No, Quinn, It's Not World POPULAR Day!

Today is World Population Day, established in 1989 by the United Nations in order to raise awareness of population issues. I'm pretty sure those issues don't involve entire towns breaking spontaneously into song, but should that ever happen then I'm sure the U.N. will look into it right away.

Fanfic Update!
  • Apple of his Pie (Pie, Pie, My Darling), by Smijey (COMPLETE!): "Mad Dog stared sternly at his eldest granddaughter for a moment, then broke out in a wide grin. 'Now kiddo, how many times have I told you to call me "grampa"?' He leaned his cane against the counter and leapt forward, grabbing her in his arms and attempted to lift her up to spin her around."

  • At the Crossroads...(Chapter 12), by oni (part 2): "The screech from the alarm clock brought Sandi out of her slumber. With her face in the pillows, she let a long sigh before bringing her hand down on the clock. When she forced herself into a sitting position on the bed, she looked over at the clock she just hit. ‘4:50 in the morning,’ she groaned internally. ‘How in god’s name did Quinn talk me and Stacy into this?’"

  • Ethan Yeager in Lawndale: Ch 9 Soaking Up Summer, by Shiva (part 1): "'I have to admit,' Ethan said as he cracked open a nice ice cold brew, 'I never saw you as a drinker Mack.' Mack Mackenzie just grinned like the cat that ate the canary and answered, 'I seem to have all kinds of secrets E, some I don’t even know I have myself.'"

  • Fresh Start (Scenes no Daria Fanfic should ever have: Monday, Monday), by Roentgen (COMPLETE!): "Daria searched for something helpful to say, but was limited to 'uh huh', 'uh huh' for two minutes. Finally, she said, 'What's on your mind?' 'Anyway,' Brittany said, 'We're looking for another flyer for cheerleading. So, would you be interested?'"

  • Having It Bad (Scenes no Daria Fanfic should ever have: Monday, Monday), by Shiva (COMPLETE!): "Daria rounded the corner and sighed before taking another step closer and clearing her throat very loudly to get their attention. They instantly stopped fighting and Sam said, 'Hey Daria.'"

  • Immortal Blood, by Shiva (parts 2 and 3): "Skylar sucked on his lower lip and when he pressed the flesh against his upper teeth he realized that they felt... Sharper. 'That’s weird,' he thought to himself as a small amount of pressure actually managed to breach the skin a bit and he tasted something truly wonderful." (Part 3)

  • In The Cards (Scenes no Daria Fanfic should ever have: Monday, Monday), by thatLONERchick (COMPLETE!): "Stacy squirmed in her seat as the psychic slowly turned the cards over, explaining what each one meant for her life, past and future. Finally she turned over the last two cards. 'You will meet two men," the woman said serenely. The cards were the King of Swords, and The Fool. "One you will love forever. The other is the man you are destined to spend your life with.'"

  • Kinetic Adventures, by MetalShadowX (part 7): "The past month has been rough for Roxy; her closest friend Rio was pressuring her to bring in a stranger named Claire and share their adventures with her, but she was afraid Rio was falling in love with Claire. She was so much like Roxy but didn't seem nearly as shy, a bit more hostile perhaps, but definitely not shy. She didn't know what to do, she didn't want to lose the only real friend she had to someone she barely knew."

  • The Kissing Book, by DeacBlue (part 1): "Later that day, Helen called Daria downstairs. 'Daria, this is Jane Lane, our new maid. As long as she's not busy with her primary duties, she'll be available to help you in whatever way you need.' Daria snorted and clomped back up to her room."

  • Learning to Like It (Scenes no Daria Fanfic should ever have: Monday, Monday), by Shiva (COMPLETE!): "'Brian I'm not completely sure I'm comfortable with this.'"

  • Little Fluttershop of Horrors, by Erin M. (part 2): "Fluttershy was perplexed. The plant she had brought home wasn't doing well at all. It was two days later and the plant had begun to wither and brown. She had given it water and changed out the soil in the pot just to be sure, but nothing seemed to be working."

  • Loser No More, by Shiva (COMPLETE!): "'I'm not the loooser...' he slurred as he felt the good feelings from the booze slip away again, 'They’re the looosers.' 'Heh, they go to a publikk schooool, I gooo tooo Grove Hillssss.' Graham then felt himself fall over onto his bed as everything became very spinny... Then he started to cry."

  • Maternal Quinnstincts (Scenes no Daria Fanfic should ever have: Monday, Monday), by Charles RB (COMPLETE!): "There was one final push and the ward was filled with the scream of a new life."

  • Misery Machine, by NightGoblyn (prologue): "'I'm about getting tired of that,' Stacy said, frowning at her friend's back. 'If I didn't know any better, I'd think you felt threatened.' Daria stopped abruptly, and Stacy almost ran into her. The other girl stopped simultaneously, as if she knew exactly what reaction Stacy's comment would bring, then shifted over to the sidewalk so she could get a good view without being in the way." (Prologue part 2)

  • More Than Just A Teacher Crush, by BrownEyedBagel (part 2): "Another thing that I will probably never tell my best friend about is how I reacted when I heard the phone ring. I keep in shape with my running; better shape than I give myself credit for. Still not sure how I leapt clear over my bed to reach the nightstand I left it on. I answered with a loud and disoriented ‘Hello’. The response over the phone was the sexiest voice there was. 'Miss Lane...If were still on for tonight to discuss the painting I can pick you up in about fifteen minutes.'"

  • A New World, by breitasparrow (part 3): "'Well I think it’s safe to say that either Tom’s dead or he isn’t here. Otherwise that would’ve woken him up.' 'Not necessarily. Tom can sleep through almost anything, almost as much as Trent.' Jane noticed a weird look on Daria’s face, then tried to change the subject by adding, 'Let’s go check his room.'"

  • One Year Later, by LadieT (COMPLETE!): "Jane was busy cleaning the apartment that she shared with her best friend/girlfriend. She looked up at the calendar and saw the date circled with a red heart. Today was their first anniversary and Jane had made big plans."

  • Operation Glitterberries: Chapter 07, by BF110C4 (part 3): "She could feel her heart beating so fast that an irrational part of her mind felt that it would explode out of her chest like on a fancy horror movie. She forced herself not to swallow her split, not to breathe harder, and most important than all, not to jump and kill her with the knife she was holding."

  • Rude Awakening Ep 11: Sucks To Be Them!, by DIsaac (part 3): "KEVIN: Well? I'm still working on the whole Mack Daddy thing? He'll embrace it one day. Whoa! Is that ice cream? I want some! DARIA: (Thinking) After the day I had I don't think nobody can top me. If you can, you can have some ice cream. KEVIN: Mr. Demartino is our new janitor . I think he has it in for me. DARIA: Grab a spoon. It seems you need this too!"

  • Sexy Daria: Sexy Cute Models, by Shiva (part 3): "Then the doorbell rang. 'Hmm...' Daria mused as she got up and thought aloud, 'If that’s Skylar he’s awful early.' But when she answered the door as an excuse to get away from her family, the person on the other end was the last one she expected to meet at her house. 'Brooke?'"

  • The Spice of Life (Scenes no Daria Fanfic should ever have: Monday, Monday), by JoeMerl (COMPLETE!): "'Variety is a spice! At least that's what Quinn always says,' Jeffy added. 'It's why she dates all three of us,' Jamie muttered sadly."

  • Unexpected Hookup: A Bigger Bite, by Shiva (part 4): "'I should be happy for Daria,' Jane thought to herself with a small amount of confusion at her annoyance with Ronnie, 'I mean I am happy for her, she certainly deserves a nice guy but... I can’t let him take her away from me.' Those words stopped Jane Lane’s thinking process cold."

  • Unnamed story (IC : Daria and the School of Magic), by Waylander (COMPLETE!): "Despite Helen's best efforts Jake was close to a nervous breakdown. It was much worse than his everyday rants about Old Man. Helen was relieved when Daria returned from the school and distracted Jake. 'Are you okay, Kiddo?' he asked hovering over Daria, 'They didn’t hurt you?'."

  • Unnamed story (Scenes no Daria Fanfic should ever have: Monday, Monday), by Brother Grimace (COMPLETE!): "For once in his life, Kevin Thompson was rendered speechless - as were all of the teenage boys (and almost all of the men present) at the sight of Janet Barch undulating in time to the music flowing through the LHS gymnasium."

  • Unnamed story (Scenes no Daria Fanfic should ever have: Monday, Monday), by BrownEyedBagel (COMPLETE!): "Daria:' So...everyone in the Twilight fandom eventually chooses between necrophilia or bestiality?'"

  • Veronica is Dead (Iron Chef: Fresh takes on Veronica Morgendorffer), by Shiva (COMPLETE!): "'So sis,' Daria said to the little tombstone at her feet, 'We're moving away from Highland in a few weeks to some suburb called Lawndale, it's near Baltimore.'
