Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween, everyone! It's a day for costumes, begging for candy, and digging up random alter egos for blog posts. If you're looking for some good Halloween fanfic to read, check out the Outpost Daria collection.

Not only that, but Outpost Daria has been updated! Thanks, Martin!

RLobinske has gained another feline overlord. Check out the pictures throughout the thread!

MartinUK is back from his Vancouver trip and has promised pictures soon.

Charles RB asks if any of the characters on Daria had functioning parents?

Brother Grimace asks about establishing character moments. What scenes really sum up Daria characters?

Kara Wild is looking for scary movies...but not too scary!

And now for the fanfic update. Quite a few new Halloween fics posted and completed in this one, so turn out the lights and get reading!

All Hallows' Peeved, by Kristen Bealer (COMPLETE!): "Jake pressed his ear against the door, listening with a hand on the doorknob. The bowl of candy sat forgotten on the table next to him as he strained to hear any noise at all from outside. At last, a grim smile spread across his face as he discerned light footsteps on the porch. He immediately swung the door open, jumped forward, and yelled, 'I'VE GOT YOU NOW, YOU NO-GOOD LOUSY PUNKS!'"

The Cards You Are Dealt, by Doggieboy (part 3): "John frowned as the memory of the conversation left his mind. 'I should’ve died,' he muttered. He thought of Scarlett and her cryptic smile; the pang of guilt hit him as it repeatedly had through the previous four months. If you had died, where would that leave her, you dumbass?"

Daria/Dorian Ch. 10: Parades Stink!, by LadieT (part 3): "Arriving at Schloss Morgendorffer, Dorian walked in to see Quinn standing up with a toga in her hand and the rest of the Fashion Club looking at him like lions during feeding time at the zoo."

An Early November Weekend at Boston Fine Arts College, by Chris Tucker (COMPLETE!): "The artist will show that strength in her hands. They are not the hands of a pampered suburbanite, nor the hands of a privileged city girl. These hands have known hard labor. Months after she has hauled on the last line, carried the last bin, pulled the last net ashore to dry and be mended, the cuts and scars and calluses have yet to fade from those hands and fingers. Hands that cradle a student's textbook and fingers that wield a scholar's pen. The artist will show that, too."

From a Distance, by RLobinske (COMPLETE!): "I watch the attractive woman dance to the beat of the grunge band performing on stage. I seem to remember that the lead singer is Jane Lane's brother. If he had half the talent at singing that she has at painting, they would be a hot band. But, since he has about half the talent I have…they're a little above painful."

God Save The Esteem ep10: Hell Is Other Parents, by Charles RB (COMPLETE!): "The dread figures drew up next to the Sloane’s table. Helen stared down at them and menacingly picked her nose before wiping it on the very expensive tablecloth. Angier moved in his chair slightly so he was between them and Kay. Every eye in the room stared, until Jake looked back and then everyone scattered." (Part 5)

The James Lane Chronicles Chapter 3, by InvisibleDan (part 1): "James did not finish his sentence before he heard the front door slam. He thought it might be Trent but then he heard a feminine voice come from the living room. 'Hello? Is anyone home? Could someone help me with these boxes?' Oh crap, he thought. It's Mom."

Jane Morgendorffer, by LadieT (part 21): "Entering Trent's room, Penny looks around and sees a photo taken the last time the Lanes were together. Daria was maybe a year old. Running her fingers across the picture, Penny drew and long breath and sighed and wondered where things went wrong. At least the two of you will have a chance at a normal life."

Lawndale and Sandi Griffin’s Genie (Chapter 1), by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (COMPLETE!): "'Mom, if one talked about magic, extra floors appearing on school buildings and rumours of pool water in classrooms the listeners would be convinced that the speaker was going crazy, or that they were making up a story. And that is just what I had heard by the end of the day,' Daria said."

Lawndale's Finest: Detective Stories #6, by LSauchelli (part 1): "She furrowed her brow under her cowl, knowing full well her aunt didn’t approve. 'Aunt Amy knows that Quinn is not only my responsibility but also she's my salvation. But her loving me has nothing to do with her well-being, or Gotham's.' As quickly as the thought came to her mind, she forced herself to forget it."

A Necessary Loss, by Brother Grimace (COMPLETE!): "'Annihilation wave approaching the monitoring station on Epsilon Eridani,' the voice of Amy Barksdale echoed through the cavernous Tactical Response Center, as Dr. Anton Davidson looked across the room at the soft sound of his deceased wife’s voice. 'Contact has been lost with Transluminal Beacon Eridani One.'"

Patience, by NightGoblyn (COMPLETE!): "He shook his head, wondering what the significance of the picture was, because he knew it was important. It was probably the last thing his sister ever painted, four girls alone in the woods, and it probably said something about what had happened to them. Maybe even where they were now, maybe he could find them and rescue them." (Part 8)

The Prank, by Smijey (COMPLETE!): "'We should prank the Halloween dance,' Jane said abruptly."

[series name redacted], Book 1, Chapter 1, by vlademir1 (part 1): "Daria plunked down on the living room couch rapidly thinking if there were any of her sister's friends she hadn't called. Finally she dialed her mom's cell phone, and when she answered just said, 'Mom, Victoria is missing again.'"

The Spectacular Spider-Girl, by Jim North (COMPLETE!): "Though Jane felt no sense of triumph as they led her brother's killer out of the courtroom, no feeling of righteous vengeance, she did feel some small, cold satisfaction that her words to him on that night had indeed come true. He had finally gotten what he deserved."

Spiral Dynamics, by RLobinske (part 1): "Henry pointed back toward his tow truck. Attached to the back was a battered black van. Even a casual observer would've noticed that there was something odd about the van, like it was sitting on the wrong frame. A lanky young man with black, spiky hair and a goatee climbed out of it and started to walk up. Henry said, 'He claims to be a relative.'"

Two Body Problem, by RLobinske (COMPLETE!): "Anton said, 'So what do we do?' Amy closed her eyes. 'We have to decide who loses their dream.'"

Unnamed story (Scenes That Should Be: Breakfast of Zombie Champions), by Doggieboy (COMPLETE!): "'Thanks for inviting us,' Quinn said. The redhead was dressed as an Egyptian queen from the time of the pharaohs. Daria was dressed as an airline pilot from the 1920s, while Jane was dressed as a gangster, circa 1930, complete with a realistic-looking Thompson sub-machine gun."

The Vision of the Burning Cities, by jtranser (updated): "As she moved very carefully toward the Gate of Horn, Daria began to hear intermittent snippets of conversation. First, the man with his face turned away. His height and broad back screened off any sight of the woman trying to talk to him, though there was something familiar to the cadence of her angry muffled voice."

Way Too Cute, by Smijey: "Daria grunted again and (very slowly) slid back her hood and removed her baseball cap. She shook out her long, golden locks of hair and in an instant Quinn Morgendorffer's name was forgotten by every boy present."

Y-Me?, by HolyGrail2007 (parts 28 and 29): "Things were not going right, Quinn knew that. And Daria was anything if blunt. If there was a problem, Daria would state it. Particularly if it meant she could be mean." (Part 29)

"Hey, how many of you people out here are a national monument, raise your hand, please?"

On this day in 1886, the Statue of Liberty (left) was unveiled and dedicated. Although the statue never appeared and wasn't mentioned on the show, Jane's alter ego (right) is a reference to it. Unless it's actually a reference to Ghostbusters II.

Either way, please enjoy this fanfic update!

The fiercest battles lie within, by VPrad (part 22): "Two male voices got into the same classroom. One of the voices was deep, and seemed to be the one of a middle-aged man, the other one seemed to be of a younger man, maybe in his early twenties. Jane’s heart accelerated when she realized they were only a few meters from her."

God Save The Esteem ep10: Hell Is Other Parents, by Charles RB (parts 2 and 3): "'Because I’m not going to suffer public humiliation, not when I can be watching someone else’s humiliation. You are going to help me and Tom bust out.'" (Part 3)

>The Invitation--the Facebook Edition, by Kristen Bealer (COMPLETE!): "Daria Morgendorffer and Brittany Taylor added breathing to their interests."

Jane Morgendorffer, by LadieT (part 20): "Jane sat on her bed and watched Daria's expression as Penny walked over to her. Trent slid over to make way for their older sister, but continued to hold Daria in a protective hug."

Kolchak: The Lawndale File, by Chris Tucker (continued): "When you've looked a vampire straight in the eye, poured salt in a sleeping zombie's mouth and then sewed its lips shut, confronted Jack the Ripper and lived to tell the tale, some two bit ward-heeler from a two bit mayor of a two bit jerkwater bedroom community is about as scary as a week old kitten, but nowhere near as cute."

Patience, by NightGoblyn (parts 5 and 6): "Trent's frown deepened. 'Then where'd all the blood come from?' The doctor lowered the clipboard and gave Trent a direct, penetrating look. 'That's a really good question, Trent. Something you might want to think about before you spend too much time alone with her.'" (Part 6)

Raft College: The First Year, by rglovejoy (part 30): "When they came though to the other side, Daria saw the difference right away. It was a forest scene, but everything was very brightly colored, but with very little detail. She looked down at her hands: they were a single color, without any marks or blemishes. Oddly, there was a thick black outline around each of her fingers, and everything else as well."

Secret Connectivity: The Amanda Conspiracy, or, Writer's Block Comix, by gwrtheyrn (COMPLETE!): "Away from Jane's eyes, he looked both more perturbed and less confident than he'd tried to appear to her. Jake Morgendorffer wasn't a detective, and didn't have any clear idea about how to conduct a missing persons search himself."

The Spectacular Spider-Girl, by Jim North (parts 10 - 12): "The sight of that much human being barreling toward her caused Jane to freeze up momentarily, but the massive buzz of her spider-sense snapped her out of it. With only moments to spare, she leaped up and back to land just shy of the top of the cage. When she gripped the bars and propped her sneakers back against them, she found that they weren't actually stiff but had a fair bit of give to them." (Part 11) (Part 12)

Unnamed story, by Kristen Bealer (COMPLETE!): "Trent trudged along the side of the road, humming the beginnings of a new song in development. His guitar was slung across his back, but for now he was content to compose unaccompanied. He looked over at Jesse, who was staring blankly ahead as usual as they walked together. They hadn't said much since they'd left the broken-down Tank, aside from occasional speculation on how much further it would be before they found a town and, more importantly, a tow truck."

Worldburner: NegaJane, by Erin Mills (part 3): "'Dash it all, Jane!' Daria Morgendorffer, Improvisational Mechanologist, swore as she tucked her skirts around her knees, which in turn were clasped tightly around the mooring rope of the swiftly rising dirigible of the insidious Baron von Ruttheimer."

Y-Me?, by HolyGrail2007 (parts 26 and 27): "Tanya laughed, seeing it merely as friendly competition. And it was, in a way. Getting guys was never personal, although some people made that mistake in thinking that way. Tanya went out as a group all the time, Quinn was sure she’d understand." (Part 27)

"That's not a car. It's a time machine."

Twenty-five years ago today, on October 26, 1985, Marty McFly went back in time to November 5, 1955. At least, he did in Back to the Future, Part I. In just under five years, he'll show up again for the sequel, set in 2015. This prompts me to ask, where the hell are my hoverboard and self-drying clothes? Shouldn't we at least be seeing some prototypes by now?

Daria's line (quoted in the title) from "That was Then, This is Dumb" may have been a reference to the Delorean/time machine in the movies. Milo Minderbinder also wrote a hilarious parody of all three films in the trilogy. Check 'em out!

And now, how about some fandom news?

Liz Ruiz and Disco316 are engaged! Congratulations to both of them!

Man, what a good day to just kick back and chill.

Taking time out from a lazy weekend to update you all with the new fanfic. Enjoy the time that remains until the dreaded Monday is upon us once again!

New Fanfic!

The Cards You Are Dealt, by Doggieboy (part 2): "Scarlett closed the diary and sat back in her chair. She lifted her skirt up and propped her lower left leg on her right knee and reached into her boot. Then she pulled out the special boot knife and looked at the silver blade as it reflected the overhead light. Then she pulled the pistol out of the shoulder holster that hung on the nearby bedpost. She ejected the clip and looked at the silver bullet that sat on top of the others."

Daria/Dorian Ch. 10: Parade Stink!, by LadieT (part 2): "Jane watched as the smile crept across Dorian's face. For some reason, she knew that he wasn't the one putting it there. As if to acknowledge the fact that her first friend was still there, Jane stared at Dorian and smiled back."

The fiercest battles lie within, by VPrad (part 21): "Tom closed his eyes in defeat, everything he had always feared was true. The money his lifestyle was based on came from dark places. Even if it was involuntarily, his hands were blood-stained."

The First Week: Sunday Pizza at Jane's Place, by Chris Tucker: "That first week at Raft University had come to an end. Books had been purchased. Class schedules hashed out. Dorm room finally squared away to the satisfaction of both roommates. Mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker ensconced in a Place of Honor in the room."

God Save The Esteem ep10: Hell Is Other Parents, by Charles RB (part 1): "'Daria! We’ve got an emergency, my parents want to meet your parents – you have to stop them hearing the phone-' 'Too late.' 'Shit.'"

Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai, by thatLONERchick (Ongoing, various authors): "'She questioned everything told to her, talked back and argued with any principal she found contradictory. Now, this is considered a trait of an independent, analytical mind. In her time, it was unheard of.'" (NightGoblyn's entry)

Is It Fall Yet? -- The Facebook Edition, by Erin Mills (part 2): "Michael J. Mackenzie has joined the group Finding Workable Justifiable Homicide Defenses for Killing Small Children with Unorthodox Implements."

The James Lane Chronicles Ch 2, by InvisibleDan (part 6): "'Now!' The call was high-pitched and sudden. It was followed by a volley of paintballs coming from several directions. Kevin for once did the smart thing and ducked. A couple of the other defenders of the red flag were not as fast and got hit many times. The fire kept on for several seconds, but for those under attack it felt like hours."

Jane Morgendorffer, by LadieT (part 19): "Helen heard a knock at the front door. She opened it to find a young woman in her late teens/early twenties with red hair and green eyes staring back at her. She was carrying a back pack that looked like it had seen better days."

Lawndale and Sandi Griffin’s Genie (Chapter 1), by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 7): "Quinn Morgendorffer arrived home at 7:30, having spent the afternoon talking to Stacy, Tiffany, Jeffy, Joey and her other admirer about Sandi and the genie. Their discussions had been inconclusive. ‘One thing is for certain, things are never going to be the same again,’ she thought as she opened her door."

Malled - The Lengthy Facebook Edition, by LadieT (COMPLETE!): "Daria Morgendorffer became a fan of Traction Pulleys and has joined the group Let's Send Annoying Sisters To Malls In Southeast Asia So They Are As Far Away From Me As Possible.
Chris Griffin and Sam Griffin likes this."

Patience, by NightGoblyn (parts 3 and 4): "He had come over with the assumption that Jane was here. Helen obviously had the assumption that Daria was at his house, and he hadn't seen or heard Daria around in a week or two. He slept a lot, so it was perfectly reasonable that he'd missed her presence, but there was something about the situation that didn't sit right with him." (Part 4)

The Spectacular Spider-Girl, by Jim North (parts 6 - 9): "Feeling like she had all the time in the world, Jane ducked down and leaned to the side. The dulled but easily recognizable sound of a fist slamming into a metal locker reached her ears, and she stood up and turned just as Flash was pulling his fist back and wincing in pain." (Part 7) (Part 8) (Part 9)

Two Body Problem, by RLobinske (part 7): "Feeling dread, Anton lowered the letter and looked across the apartment toward Amy. 'They're offering me the job.'"

Unnamed Story (Scenes no Daria fanfic should have: Damn The Torpedoes!), by thatLONERchick (COMPLETE!): "Daria sat in a dark room typing furiously at her computer, the only illumination the glow of the monitor where it reflected in her glasses."

Worldhopper, by Erin Mills (part 1): "'I'm not sure what's more frightening to me; you being so calm about those concepts or the fact that the idea I might have a pet is apparenly more cause for alarm with you than my immolation.'"

Y-Me?, by HolyGrail2007 (parts 24 and 25): "Quinn had no idea. She wasn’t used to figuring this stuff out. How did you know what a guy was thinking? That’s what all this practice was supposed to be for, and a fat lot of good that did." (Part 25)

See? I told you there'd be more!

On this date in 1997, the first Daria VHS, "Daria," was released. I bet they had to think really hard to come up with that title, didn't they? The tape included the pilot, "Sealed with a Kick," and the first three episodes of Season One.

In fandom news:

LSauchelli is still working on a mobile webapp version of the PPMB.

Quiverwing has posted photos from her trip to London.

Kristen Bealer (hi!) has also posted photos from her trip to Canada and New England.

Roentgen wonders how a sequel to Daria would be managed and discusses which Daria characters are strong vs. weak.

Dark Kuno wants to know which fanfics you like to read over and over again?

DigiSim has posted a new Iron Chef that places Daria and Jane in the world of Super Mario Brothers.

Fanfic update. More soon. I hope!

Hi, all! I'm back from vacation and ready to update some more fanfic. Hopefully there will be more substantial posts on the way, but for now I'm just trying to keep things moving. Enjoy!

The Absolutely True Story Explaining Why Blue M&Ms Are Repulsive to Jane Lane and Should Disturb Everyone (Write-off Challenge 6, Round 2), by Shull Bitter (COMPLETE!): "Jane was still in semi-shock, taking full account of Jesse's tongue mastery—firm and confident enough to move an M&M with accuracy, yet light enough not to put any additional pressure on her eyeball. She leaned towards his face, ready to share a chocolaty kiss."

The Cards You Are Dealt, by Doggieboy (part 1): "Scarlett Hawkins walked down one of Lawndale’s residential sidewalks with a purpose and a determined look on her face. While she appeared to look straight ahead as she moved, her gaze darted back and forth; by now, it was a habit. Her right hand held onto her jacket lapel, because that way she was within quick reach of the .45-automatic pistol in its shoulder holster."

Daria/Dorian Ch. 9: Failure Is A Good Thing, by LadieT (COMPLETE!): "The following Monday morning when the projects were due, Jodie walked into the school looking utterly defeated. She had failed at getting the summer off. Mack's face resembled one of a zombie with a hangover. He had spent all day Sunday trying to teach Kevin the three branches of government. Upchuck spent the day mumbling to himself."

Daria/Dorian Ch. 10: Parades Stink!, by LadieT (part 1): "Dorian arrived home after watching "Sick, Sad, World" with Jane to see Quinn and the rest of the Fashion Club waiting in the living room for him. Okay, do I run back out the door or should I face the demons straight on."

Esteemsters(Crossovers Still Crossing Over), by DarkAtlan (COMPLETE!): "'Come on, Daria, finish what you were saying,' Helen chimed in, desperate to get the conversation away from Daria’s... oddities."

Everybody Comes to Trent’s, by JPAGC (COMPLETE!): "I am shaken by fury and in a few steps I am by the piano, snapping at player: 'Nick, though I told you never to play...!' And then I see her."

Fair Enough - The Facebook Edition, by LadieT (COMPLETE!): "Jane Lane, Jodie Landon, and Daria Morgendorffer became fans of Information Booths and joined the group We Hope That Mack Is Wearing A Cup."

The fiercest battles lie within, by VPrad (parts 18 - 20): "An involuntary smile and a slight blush appeared on Daria’s face. Quinn was surprised by that, until the day before, it would have been unthinkable to see her sister smile. She had been so depressed with the whole Jane situation. Something had happened." (Part 19) (Part 20)

The First Week: Day Two, by Chris Tucker (parts 1 - 4): "'Jane was right. The only man you can trust IS Mr. Coffee!'" (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4)

Flynn at 1111 Glen Oak (Crossovers Still Crossing Over), by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 2): "He then scanned the house for his objective. '5 humans, 1 cat detected' reported the sensors. He narrowed the sensors down. 'Teenager detected. Location: upstairs bedroom'. Norm then walked towards the front door."

Futur-aria (Daria/Futurama fusion) Snippets, by cfardell_Brenorenz29: "'If IC Wiener is not here before 11:59, I may as well eat the pizza myself,' she said. There was still no answer. She went over to a table near one of the open tubes and put the pizza and the note with IC Wiener, Applied Cryogenics, 10A/1000 Dega Street on it on the table."

God Save The Esteem ep9: Pop Cult, by Charles RB (COMPLETE!): "'The Gupty children are what happen when a Stepford Wife and a Borg love each other very much. They wouldn’t stop singing songs about clean moral values. They associate sugar with Nazism.'" (Part 4)

Her First New Dress, by HeirOfNorton (COMPLETE!): "She looked at the poster about her bed, which showed the most beautiful woman in the whole world. The woman was wearing a really pretty dress and long gloves and was holding a stick with a cigarette on the end. She was smiling and looking at the camera, like she was smiling at Mei-Ling, and telling her she could be this pretty some day. Her mother said she would never be that pretty if she stayed so fat, but Mei-Ling was sure she could."

Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai, by various authors (Ongoing): "Daria looked around, squinting slightly in the glow of a hundred lit candles, watching the flickering shadows play about the room."

The (Incomplete) Autobiography of Jane Lane, by Roentgen (COMPLETE!): "The next year when I was five we had a drought. It killed everything in the garden. I remember flocks of butterflies flittering around the garden and Dad trying to chase them away. I got mad at him and began to chase Dad."

Invader Dar, by Wraith (Updated!): "For her first class of the day, she had Mr. DeMartino's social studies class. 'Class, today we have a new student joining us. Please welcome Dar... Lastnamewhatsalastnamedoineedmorethanonewhydoyouhumanshavetroubledistinguisingpeople? Please raise your hand.'"

Is It Fall Yet? -- The Facebook Edition, by Erin Mills (part 1): "Michael J. Mackenzie has joined the group Please, God, Smite These Idiots That Surround Me."

It's a Sick, Sad, Sad, Sad World, by TheExcellentS (COMPLETE!): "'Well, considering the fact that this isn’t a simulation, I think now might be a better time than any to say... Watch out for that billboard, Jane!'" (Part 4)

Jake's on a Plane (Scenes no Daria fanfic should have: Damn The Torpedoes!), by Smijey (COMPLETE!): "'Is that...is that hissing? What's that coming from?'"

The James Lane Chronicles Ch 2, by InvisibleDan (part 5): "'I'll still keep my eye on you, James. But I think Daria can do a lot worse than to have you for a boyfriend.' James sighed. 'You don't have to worry about that, Mrs. Morgendorffer. I've never thought about your daughter in that way.'"

Jane Morgendorrfer, by LadieT (parts 17 and 18): "A brief conversation took place and Helen agreed to let Charity bring her kit over to practice a couple of nights a week. Trent's cheeks turned bright red as Charity waved at him." (Part 18)

Lawndale and Sandi Griffin’s Genie (Chapter 1), by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (parts 5 and 6): "Mr O’Neill was blubbering in the background. 'Why did my class have to be the one interrupted by a mischievous genie?' he was saying." (Part 6)

My Life As A Sidekick To A Teenage Robot, by Patrick Moore (part 1): "The SUV that drove the Morgendorffer family to their new home from Highland, TX to Trembleton stopped at a familiar sort of a house that was red. For the last few weeks, Daria Morgendorffer didn’t mind moving to a new town, but Trembleton was different. It had more damage to it’s town, than Townsville and Miracle City combined."

A Nightmare in Lawndale, by peapotmaster (part 1): "'Tommy Sherman’s dead…again,' said Daria Morgendorffer to Jodie Landon at the site of the Lawndale Roar office."

Patience, by NightGoblyn (parts 1 and 2): "Trent's eyes flicked from Church to Whitetown and back. 'I heard banging in Janey's room, woke me up. I went to go see what was going on, and she was smoking a cigarette. She stopped driving the nails long enough to tell me her story, and now I'm telling you mine. And hers, I guess.' Trent nodded. 'Yeah, that's where I gotta start.'" (Part 2)

Raft College: The First Year, by rglovejoy (part 29): "'Dad,' Daria said in a warning tone, 'remember your heart.' She worried that he might become agitated and then he would end up in the hospital. Although Boston has some of the best hospitals in the world, she would rather not have him going into one of them."

Searching for a New Hope, by thatLONERchick (parts 1 - 3): "The girl wore her auburn hair past her waist; it brushed the seat of her desk every time she moved. Under her faded green jacket, worn unzipped over ripped jeans, was a black wife beater. On the front, just between the girl’s breasts, was a large, stylized white D." (Part 2) (Part 3)

The Spectacular Spider-Girl, by Jim North (parts 2 - 5): "She needed to see a doctor. She needed to call a poison center. But most of all, she needed to shut her eyes and descend into the sweet darkness of sleep. Without bothering to take off the rest of her clothes, she stood up, walked over to her bed, and fell across it, unconscious before she even hit the mattress." (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5)

That I Can Depend On (Write-off Challenge 6, Round 2), by Dennis (COMPLETE!): "They continued in the same vein for another fifteen minutes before Tom finally stalked out, the bowl of gummy bears just missing his head as he left the kitchen. In the aftermath, she stood alone, heart racing and rage still coursing through her. She wasn't sure she could forgive Tom some of the things he'd said, and part of her hoped she'd wounded him as badly."

That Infernal Nonsense, by Ajar (Act I, Scene X): "Quinn (spoken): I keep telling people that the Fashion Club didn't let him in because he was a guy. It had nothing to do with his popularity. He doesn't need to get all not-asking-out-y just because he really likes your new water boy."

Tide Turner (Iron Chief: What if Tom met Daria first), by thatLONERchick (COMPLETE!): "'I’m going to the Laundromat, Quinn, not a speed date. I don’t expect to "get a guy," I expect to wash my clothes in peace and come home.'"

Two Halves: Chapter 6 - Role Models, by Dark Kuno (part 4): "Claude's right eyebrow lifted a bit as he watched Daria take her turn. It was blatantly obvious that the girl wanted to be anywhere other than on stage, but something else caught his attention beyond her disdain."

Unnamed Story (Scenes no Daria fanfic should have: Damn The Torpedoes!), by Smijey (COMPLETE!): "She had spent all night writing her latest essay for English class, entitled "The Pen is Mightier than the Sword: Five Works of Literature that Sparked Wars", and had just placed it on her desk in anticipation of handing it in to Mr. O'Neill. Mack entered the class, followed by Kevin, who was goofing around with a bottle of water in one hand when he tripped over his shoelaces and splashed water on Daria, Daria's desk, and (most infuriatingly) Daria's essay."

The Untitled Crazy Themed Schools Fic!, by Smijey: "'Alright, youse mugs, simmer down!' he called out. 'My name's 'Tommy' O'Neill. You know why the call me Tommy?' He opened the violin case, seized out the Thompson submachine gun inside, and emptied a clip into the ceiling. Bits of plaster rained down upon the students, all of whom seemingly unaffected by the insane act. Daria herself flinched and slumped down lower in the seat."

The Vision of the Burning Cities, by jtranser (Updated!): "'Here, you will learn that the dream movie you are watching is also watching you. It is also a critic judging your performance, an improv group reacting to your input, a trusting friend or an implacable enemy determined on your ruin.'"

Y-Me?, by HolyGrail2007 (parts 17 - 23 ): "Quinn darted off, taking one last peek at Mitch before she left. The kid looked so completely stunned by the fact that Quinn gave him such a gift he didn’t know what to do. But if it worked anything like Brandon, she’d know she could do it as easily as Rebecca. And after that, work on Andy." (Part 18) (Part 19) (Part 20) (Part 21) (Part 22) (Part 23)

PPMB Mobile App now available

For those of you who just can't get enough Daria fandom in your day, LSauchelli has created a new mobile app for PPMB.

Now you can catch up with the latest fan fiction, art and general news from the comfort of your cell phone. Or something like that.

We might have a fanfiction update if I can get the art listing updated first.
