What About Pierced Brains?

Daria has already celebrated National Piercing Day, but it remains to be seen if she keeps the piercing this time or not. If you've been wanting to get pierced, then today's the day. Dare you to get your not-uvula done!

For those who aren't into self-perforation, you could participate in National Learn to Swim Day instead. Unless you already know how to swim, I suppose, in which case I guess you should swim, you cow! Swim! Sorry. Coach talk.

On this day in 1999, The New York Times published "'Daria': In Praise of the Most Unpopular Girl at Lawndale." Check it out for a bit of nostalgia from the show's early days.

Three Cheers for Windmills!

It seems that Brittany has traded her pompoms for windmill blades in honor of Windmill Day, but it's going to make cheerleading much more difficult. Let's just hope she doesn't end up at the top of the pyramid! I'm sure Tad Gupty will want to celebrate this holiday, with his strong admiration for their clean source of energy, but I hope he keeps an eye on his family's whereabouts at the same time so he doesn't lose them.

If he does, hopefully Daria will be there to help him again, which is only right because this is also National Babysitters Day. Of course, Daria doesn't observe this holiday willingly, no matter how much Quinn whines.

At least she could go hang out at Jane's house afterward, and perhaps even celebrate National Sleepover Day! They shouldn't bother to sleep, though, because it's also Stay Up All Night Day. That might be a bad idea, however, because it didn't work out so well for Trent and Jesse the night before the flea market!

Fanfic Update!
  • Convergence on Lawndale, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 15): "The Doctor noticed something. There were many subtle energy readings scattered around Lawndale. ‘Do these have to do with the portal device or the flicker?’ He wasn’t sure."

  • Every Rowe Has It’s Thorn, by wilddogjj (part 1): "It’s only 6:00 AM on a Saturday and Chris Carbone was already outside of his house."

  • "Expectavi"—Daria: Agent of Cobra, by Ranchoth (part 7): "During the early 1990s, the Cobra Organization reentered the field of applied environmental manipulation as a military strategy."

  • I (Don't) Want to Be a Part of It, by ladyevil (part 14): "'I mean, I wasn’t the worst mother ever.' Helen was saying."

  • Spider Quinn 21 A View of Oakwood and Ruins, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 6): "'Waiting can be difficult,' SpiderGirl said. Ninja Talon knew that SpiderGirl wasn’t talking about the current situation, although that would have made sense, but more about the ongoing situation between her and the Enigma."

  • Star Trek: Daria: Changing Lanes, by echopapa (part 1): "The sun over the Daystrom Institute’s Pasadena campus was relentless, the kind of bright, clean heat that made the 24th century look like a travel brochure. Daria, Jane, and Naomi had opted for public transport and walked the final stretch from the station."

Daria Will Be Deliberately Abstaining From This One

I see that Jake and Helen were happy to celebrate Join Hands Day back in their hippie days, but I'm sure today they're much too busy for that kind of thing. It's too bad, though, because that Pentagon isn't going to levitate itself!

Several Lawndale High students could observe Brothers and Sisters Day, having both, but not many of them would actually want to. Jane tolerates Trent pretty well, but she seems quite content to let the rest of her siblings stay far, far away.

There may be room for more brothers or sisters, though, because it's also Baby Day! In Sandi's words, "They're so cute when they smile at you. 'Hello, precious!'"
