Gimme a K!

Good for Brittany for celebrating National Kangaroo Awareness Day, but I don't think anyone could fail to be aware of a cheerleading kangaroo wearing boxing gloves. Anyone who somehow failed to notice something like that would definitely start paying attention when the first right hook landed.

It might be safer to enjoy National Food Day instead, especially if the food in question is pizza. I might mix it up with some chocolate instead, though, in a twist that everyone who knows me definitely saw coming.

On a historical note, Black Thursday occurred on this day in 1929, kicking off the Great Depression in the United States. Brittany's wise summing up of that era: "When people realized they had no money they got really depressed?"

Fanfic Update!
  • Dumb Brunette, by Janepringles (part 2): "The first thing Daria Morgendorffer noticed when she woke up from her slumber was that she felt oddly refreshed."

  • Grapes or Something, by Sheila Wisz Ellayn (COMPLETE!): "Quinn had not been that level of cold and antisocial for a very long time." (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7)

  • Mystik Spiral: The Next Generation, by WildDogJJ (part 2): "Timmy, Q, Teddy and Rachel have just started a band and were using the Carbone’s garage as practice space. Unfortunately, Q hadn’t told her father that she started a rock band with her boyfriend."

  • The purple crocodile apocalypse, by 1111dr_swan (COMPLETE!): "-i hate purple crocodiles! Quinn shouted into the phone and hung up."

  • Spider Quinn 24 Something Unnatural, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (parts 3 and 4): "'Rome,' Daria considered as she examined another frame of the ghost abducting Jamie. 'Huh?' Rhea asked. 'More specifically, the Colosseum.'" (Part 4)

A Blast from the Pasta

Jake has chosen an unusual way to celebrate National Pasta Day, but at least he doesn't have to worry about the pasta oxidizing...or does he? Trent will probably celebrate with either spaghetti or fettuccini Bolognese, depending on which one is currently his favorite.

I hope that Daria and Jane choose to observe National Pay Back a Friend Day by settling any outstanding financial debts rather than by getting revenge. Between the multitude of humiliations and all of the baggage surrounding Tom Sloane, I think they'd be at it for a long time.

The Fashion Club will, I'm sure, do anything except celebrate Wear Something Gaudy Day, unless there's another Fashion Don'ts Costume Gala. Even then, I'm sure a part of their souls dies whenever they put on something unfashionable.

Leader of the Mack

Mack is all revved up for National Motorcycle Ride Day, but I hope he remembers to wear a helmet. Being the only smart player on the football team isn't the kind of title he'd want to lose.

If Kevin decides to celebrate as well, I hope that someone is there to comfort him if he gets hurt, and not just because it's National Hug a Kevin Day. I have no doubt Brittany will be willing to oblige...just as soon as she gets that cricket out of her teeth.

While you're in a hugging mood, you could also observe National Hug a Drummer Day, but maybe find a drummer who isn't Max. He's far too much of a criminale to want a hug, I'm sure.

Fanfic Update!
  • I See Right Through, by Horned_Catfish (COMPLETE!): "'Just talk to him,' Jane slurped, her tongue curling around the straw of the drink, 'He’s a chill guy- well, if you ignore his lethargic approach to life.'"

  • Mystik Spiral: The Next Generation, by WildDogJJ (part 1): "Q Ruttheimer, Chuck and Stacy’s daughter, sat at the desk in her room with her nose buried in a textbook. The book was for Advanced Computer Science. She was visibly frustrated."

  • Pokemon: May's Journey, by cfardellbrenorenz29 (part 5): "A little over two months after the events at Mt. Coronet and the rematch with Steven, May arrived back in Oreburgh City."

  • Quinn and Don Pedro, by Sheila Wisz Ellayn (parts 1 - 3): "It was a bright and quiet morning of November when Stacy Rowe walked the streets of Lawndale without a care in the world." (Part 2) (Part 3)

  • Sorcerer, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (COMPLETE!): "Jasmine found Aladdin sitting on one of the Palace's many balconies."

  • Spider Quinn 24 Something Unnatural, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (parts 1 and 2): "Lawndale may have been in shock following the Groundhog Day Attack, but Sunday night baseball games were still a fixture." (Part 2)

  • When I See You Kitten As A Cat, by WriteBadFanfiction (COMPLETE!): "It was cold out, the fall was brisk. Perhaps leaving her window open wasn’t the smartest choice, though she did enjoy hearing dry leaves scatter across the pavement two stories down."

The Meanest Girls

Although the Fashion Club is absolutely the right group to observe Mean Girls Day, the holiday is actually a reference to the movie. Still, I hope Sandi decides to celebrate by turning her focus on someone other than Stacy for once.

The girls might be interested to know that today is also National Boyfriends Day, although they tended to remain largely unattached during the show. Daria and Jane should steer well clear of this one, because their track record with boyfriends is...not great.

Happy anniversary to Outpost Daria, which went online on this day in 1998! While the site has undergone changes over the years, including new ownership, it still stands after all this time.
