Nice Legs, Trent!

Trent looks less than thrilled about National Costume Swap Day, but then again maybe he's borrowing Daria's attitude along with her wardrobe. I'm a little curious about what Daria would look like in Trent's clothes, but I suspect the sight would send Jane's teasing into overdrive.

Meanwhile, I suppose Kevin and Brittany are celebrating National Motorcycle Ride Day, but I hope Kevin doesn't try to pop a wheelie this time. Brittany was freaked out enough as it was about the cricket; suffering a massive injury would probably also spoil her day.

I sure hope that Jodie gets to enjoy Black Girl Day Off, if not the whole day then at least for a couple of hours or so. It might require either an act of God or faking her own death, and I'm not sure if either is likely to work on the Landons.

Mack has his hog gassed up and ready for National Motorcycle Day, but I hope Kevin leaves his in the garage. I don't think the Tommy Sherman Memorial Tree/Crutch could take any more punishment. Oh, and his knee might get hurt as well.

Meanwhile, Sandi might decide to swim a few laps in honor of National Swimming Pool Day, especially if she wants to avoid becoming "thinly challenged" again. I'm certain that Quinn will be happy to stand next to the pool and call her a cow--I mean, encourage her.

If Brittany doesn't have anything else going on, she could celebrate Cheer up the Lonely Day by visiting the seniors at Better Days Nursing Home. She could even use literal cheers if she'd like!

Who Knew Authoritarians Could be Flexible?

It appears that Ms. Li is exhibiting some previously-unknown talents for International Yoga Day, but I think she should be careful. If she gets stuck on that bottom one, things could be very awkward at the next school board meeting. The Fashion Club might celebrate this one, as they've been shown to participate in power yoga, but only up to the point before they'd actually break a sweat.

Let's just hope Trent and the band decide to abstain from observing World Day of Music. The sound that Mystik Spiral produces might be charitably referred to as "music," but there aren't many that would define it as "good."

Someone should tell Kevin that today is World Motorcycle Day, because that would be a great opportunity for him to get his leather jacket and motorbike back out and recreate the scene from Jane's fourth birthday party. Just remind Brittany to keep her mouth closed to keep the bugs out.

It's a Switcheroo!

Kevin and Brittany have moved beyond wearing each other's underwear and have now switched clothes entirely in honor of National Costume Swap Day. I have to admit, Kevin really does have the legs to pull off a skirt, although I'm more worried about what kind of force of nature Brittany would be on the football field.

Once they're done cosplaying as each other, they might take Kevin's motorcycle for a spin for National Motorcycle Ride Day, although I recommend that neither of them wear a skirt for that. Also, Brittany needs to remember to keep her mouth shut if she wants to keep her teeth bug-free.

As soon as they get back from their ride, they can find Mr. DeMartino and help him celebrate Moment of Frustration Day. I think it goes without saying, though, that the teacher will experience more than a single moment of frustration with those two around.

Leader of the Mack!

Mack's ready to roll for National Motorcycle Day, although I wish he was wearing a helmet. Considering he's the only one on the football team with a functioning brain, it might be a good idea to protect it as much as possible. Kevin, meanwhile, can feel free to be "rebellent" by riding without protection. It's not like there's anything to damage, anyway.

I hope Daria and Jane share a round of cheese fries in honor of National French Fry Day, but let's hope Quinn doesn't decide to regale us with her "Greasy Fry" masterpiece. No one wants to hear crappy poetry when they're trying to enjoy their junk food.

Last but not least, it was on this day in 2000 that the episode "Legends of the Mall" first aired. That was long enough ago that the year 2000 itself could now feature as a period-specific era for an urban legend in the episode!

Looks like Kevin and Brittany have already started celebrating National Costume Swap Day, and I am impressed that Kevin actually has the legs to pull off that skirt. I'm also a little curious if, as they've done in the past, they're wearing each other's underwear. Jane seemed to think it was a frequent occurrence.

When Kevin's finished with his cheerleading moves, he could take a ride for National Motorcycle Ride Day! I hope he doesn't try to pop a wheelie, though. One injured leg was enough, and I don't think the Tommy Sherman Memorial Tree could take any more punishment.

Instead, maybe he could sit down for a nice game of chess for National Chess Day, since he'd considered the idea the last time he hurt himself. Given that he's fuzzy on the difference between chess and checkers, though, it might not be a good idea.

I am, however, happy to see that he's (mostly) clothed, because it's National Nude Day and I really don't think anyone should ride a motorcycle naked. At the very least you want a helmet!

Finally, today we celebrate the anniversaries of both "The Teachings of Don Jake" and "Lane Miserables," which aired on this day in 1997 and 1999. Both involved Lane family reunions that went south quickly, but only one of them provided us with Trent's sage insights into Huckleberry Hound.

A Man and His Hawg

I know I brought this up on PPMB some time ago, but what is it with Mack and motorcycles? There are three shots of Mack on two-wheelers in the alter-egos on the MTV website, with Evel Knievel Mack and Easy Rider Mack shown here. (Not shown is Shriner Mack on a minibike.)

As Mack is commonly perceived as the masculine ideal for the Dariaverse (as he is almost without flaw and every other man is a mentally challenged dork), it makes sense for him to have a studly ride. This begs for both fanfic and more art, but mostly for more fanfic. A great postcanon story is buried here. Let it be free.
