It's International Surfing Day today, which means it's also the Summer Solstice! PAR-TAYYY!!! The summer solstice (give or take a day) is the time for many holidays around the world, such as Go Skateboarding Day, Fête de la Musique (a.k.a. World Music Day), World Humanist Day, National Aboriginal Day, and Inti Raymi. Enjoy!

Hangin' Ten Off the Big Island

As luck would have it, a copy of the July 12-18, 1997 TV Guide came up on e-Bay, and here is the (doctored) image of Daria surfing away, in big screen. I'm not entirely happy with my efforts to wipe out everyone else around her, but it will do for now. Maybe someone else can do better. More soon.

Okay, back again. Here's a contest of sorts. This is a bitmap image of Daria surfing, scanned into my computer with all unnecessary objects around it, plus minor scratches, etc. Take it and do whatever you wish with it, but make it better. Aisle of You

"Mart of Darkness" (the title taken from Heart of Darkness) premiered on MTV just eight years ago today. It is also worth pointing out that Daria appeared on the cover of TV Guide eleven years ago today, and on a surfboard too (seen here). Is there nothing this cartoon character cannot do? Other than get back on the air, I mean.
