So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, I'm outta here!

Hey there, blog readers! I'm sure you've been following my fill-in updates with bated (which beats baited) breath, but I'm afraid it's my turn for a hiatus. My husband and I are going on vacation starting tomorrow, and both the hotel and ship we'll be staying at/on insist on charging for internet access. Screw that, am I right?

Okay, yes, I'm cheap. But, hey, it's my vacation and I'll fail to update this blog if I want to! But before I go, how about one more fanfic update?

Anthony DeMartino Just Wants To Have Fun, by Smijey (part 3): "Mr. DeMartino remembered it all. The complete humiliation. The forging of the dentures. The freak radio transmission he had received on them in class the next day. And then, the blood..."

Daria/Dorian Ch.9 - Failure Is A Good Thing, by LadieT (parts 2 and 3): "As the last seminar ended, Mr. O'Neill almost leapt out of his chair. He felt as though his role as an educator had been given new meaning. He rejoined the others in the main hall of the convention center. He couldn't wait to get back to school. He had an idea of what he wanted his next class project to be." (Part 3)

The fiercest battles lie within, by VPrad (part 13): "They both remained silent, looking at each other again. They could feel in the other person’s eyes the vulnerability of the lonely soul that needs someone else to feel complete."

Go on Living, by Jim North (COMPLETE!): "Sometimes I like to pretend that I'm the Demon Barber of Fleet Street during this ritual, but I refrain this time since Paul is in the room and it bothers him. Not because he has anything against Sweeny Todd in particular or even maniacal laughter in general, I don't think, but simply because it startles him to see my features so expressive and animated." (Part 4) (Part 5)

God Save The Esteem Ep8: Eff Christmas, by Charles RB (parts 2 and 3): "The Fashion Club, as one entity, ran away. Ever since they’d created rumours that they were sexually easy, this had been happening. They were starting to think that maybe, just maybe, they shouldn’t have attempted that tactic. (But then they remembered they were becoming a bit less popular before and that strengthened their resolve)" (Part 3)

The James Lane Chronicles Ch 2, by InvisibleDan (part 2): "Daria sighed again. At this rate her lungs would collapse from all the stupid questions she had to answer."

Jane Morgendorffer, by LadieT (part 14): "Daria's birthday was a week after school ended. Jane, Quinn and Trent wanted to make her a birthday cake instead of buying one. Helen arrived home early to find the kitchen covered in cake batter while Jake and the three 'chefs' were trying to clean it up."

A Nightmare in Lawndale (Crossovers Still Crossing Over), by peapotmaster (Preview): "For years, I've been a history teacher to a bunch of idiot BRATS. But no ONE knows that I'm the Lawndale SLASHER."

Road Trip: Journey's End - Journey's Beginning, by Chris Tucker (COMPLETE!): "Both Jane and Daria knew that Connie was poor, very poor. They were both well versed in the life of poverty. They knew it when they saw it. Connie's luggage was an old duffle bag and a pair of battered cardboard boxes. A covert glance at the luggage tag and box labels indicated that Connie had taken the bus to Boston. From Louisiana."

Unnamed story (Iron Chef: Mary Sue), by Chris Tucker (COMPLETE!): "She knew what she had to do. She knew it was the only thing she could do. She knew how she had to do it."

Unnamed Story (Scenes no Daria fanfic should have: Ouch Time), by thatLONERchick (COMPLETE!): "Daria was speechless and, pale and sweating, Jane thrust the box at her friend. 'S'for you,' she muttered, swaying on the verge of collapse."

Unnamed Story (Write-Off Challenge), by Shull Bitter (COMPLETE!): "'I got an A on a test today!' Quinn announced over lasagna."

Welcome to the Dollhouse, by Annika (part 1): "Trust is not a thing she gives lightly, not in this sense – she can count on one hand the people she really trusts in this world, and removing Trent, or any of them, from that list would hurt more than she cares to admit."

X-ed Out, by Erin Mills (part 1): "Her face curled up into an expression of unbridled rage. HE wanted to LEAVE. Leave HER. For WHAT? Some FLOOZY he met in the bar while SHE was up on stage pouring out her SOUL to him?! Oh, no. THAT wasn't going to happen. Not to HER. Not AGAIN!"

Y-Me?, by HolyGrail2007 (part 11): "Quinn dropped by Mitch’s room on time. Guys never understood the prospect of being fashionably late. Normally, Quinn would just let them sweat it out a bit, but she had a bet riding tonight: Her plans revolved around this, and she was going to make sure it was done properly."

Finally, LSauchelli is developing a webapp version of the PPMB and would like feedback.

And there's me signing off. I leave this blog in the capable hands of my colleagues, who will hopefully not make fun of me too much behind my back while I'm gone. Cheers!

I guess that means I'll have to do something for a change.

It's not just Paul who's scared - that Sealed picture of grinning Daria is THE SCARIEST THING EVER RELATED TO DARIA.
