Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

Mrs. Bennett is indulging in a little extra holiday cheer in honor of Christmas, or maybe she and Herbert are into some unusual fantasies. Not for me to judge, either way. Remember to share your sugar-coated cookies with X, and maybe give him a little cottage all made out of gingerbread if you have one.

If you're in the mood for some Christmas fan-fiction, you can find a whole lot of them amongst the holiday-themed stories on Outpost Daria Reborn.

To make today extra festive, Hanukkah begins tonight at sunset. May all those in fandom who celebrate it have a wonderful Festival of Lights!

Hanukkah Sameach!

Trent's revealing his previously-unknown Jewish roots in time for Hanukkah, which begins tonight at sunset! You know, Trent as a rabbi actually makes more sense when you realize the holidays begin in the evening rather than the morning. "The night holds the key."

Today is also Bake Cookies Day and, don't worry, Rita. The chocolate chips are already in them. Just try to remember to turn the oven on, okay?

Fanfic Update!
  • Daria Enrolls At Nevermore: An Experiment, by Meester_Lee (part 1): "'So when is the last day of classes for you and Quinn?' asked Helen." (Part 2)

  • Her Last Words, by Sheila Wisz Ellayn (part 50): "At first, Ellie did not have to act anything, since she was quite shocked and surprised for real."

  • Sometimes Life Just Repeats... (Scenes no Daria fanfic Should Have: How did We survive?), by Shiva (COMPLETE!): "'So, kids,' Daria said to her children as she drove on the road, 'I know that it's difficult to adjust to a new town and a new school, but...'"

  • The Youngest Barksdale (Iron Chef: Daria The Youngest Barksdale), by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 4): "Daria arrived at Lawndale High the second time to find Scarlett waiting for her. 'Scarlett?'"

What Rhymes With "Menorah"?

Rabbi Trent is getting ready to celebrate eight crazy nights of Hanukkah, starting at sundown tonight! Although I'm not sure a narcoleptic would mix well with open flames, rabbi or not. Still, happy Hanukkah to all of the Jewish Daria fans!

Today is also both Human Rights Day and International Animal Rights Day, so I guess everyone's covered except the plants. Won't someone think of those poor plants?

Mystik Schlemiel

Rabbi Trent wants everyone to know that Hanukkah begins tonight at sundown! I have to say, Trent as a rabbi makes a lot of sense when you think about it: the holidays start at night? It's perfect for someone who believes that "the night holds the key."

Today is also the anniversary of Giacomo Puccini's birth on this day in 1858. To celebrate, go join Mr. DeMartino in the automotive department for a performance of Madame Butterfly.

Fanfic Update!
  • Danny Morgendorffer, by ST91 (part 22): "After a short walk, the eight teens reached Brittany's house. Sandi, by claiming her status of president of the fashion club, rang the bell and almost immediately the blonde cheerleader opened the door."

  • Edicius, by elainefr (part 20): "Outside 'Tom......' Why don't you say no?"

  • The Engineer and the Time Lady, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 2): "Regeneration. You never knew what you were going to get. But that was jumping ahead..."

  • The Many Named God (Odds and Ends), by LSM (COMPLETE!): "The streaks of sunlight hit his face through the grimy windows of the run down motel."

  • Mercy-Kill (IC: Make a Daria Character a Killer), by YouthofOz (COMPLETE!): "Shaggy looked at the knife in his hand, then up at his friend. 'When I said if you ever needed a favor...' he began."

How About a Bracing Spot of Birthday Tea?

The fantasy versions of Daria and Quinn are wishing a glorious morning to Jane Austen, who was born on this day in 1775. The scene is, of course, from "Write Where it Hurts," in which we find out that virtually everything Daria writes is stolen from other authors. But Austen was among them, so I can't fault her taste.

Hanukkah begins at sunset tonight, so I'd also like to wish anyone in Daria fandom who celebrates it an excellent Festival of Lights.

Maintenance continues on the PPMB, but you can stay up-to-date on the Paperpusher MB Twitter account.

Happy Hanukkah!

Rabbi Trent reminds us all that Hanukkah begins today at sunset. May all those in fandom who celebrate it have a wonderful Festival of Lights! Trent actually stands a chance of being awake for this one, but let's hope he doesn't decide to write a song for the occasion.

Chappy Chanukkah!

Rabbi Trent (how in the world did they come up with this alter ego?) says, "Like, oy, or something. Have a wonderful eight days and nights of celebration, everyone!" And we even have some bagels, drawn by the MTV staff long ago for background images that originated on Helen's webpage (something to do with the "That Was Then, This Is Dumb" episode).

Did manage to get through a lot of updating for the story list but it isn't done yet. More work to come. Not getting much of anything done. Apologies to all. Maybe tomorrow the list will get done.

Chappy Chanukah!

It's the last night of Chanukah and I haven't had time to post anything, but I'll get to it as soon as I can.

Rabbi Trent sez, It's time to party!
