Blog Post 9 from Outer Space

Happy birthday to the late Bela Lugosi! Born on this day in 1882, he was best known for his role as Dracula in the film of the same name. I wouldn't be surprised if some of his later work found its way to Daria and Jane's Bad Movie Night, as well.

Fanfic Update!
  • The Author as a Lesbian, Season 2, by DeacBlue (COMPLETE!): "She looked around at everyone. 'I'm sure that you girls know that the school is closed for the week, and have guessed the reason why. With the police having to execute several warrants, both search and arrest, in Lawndale High, the Superintendent for the Lawndale School District felt compelled to start its own investigation. All I have are some preliminary findings, but, girls,' and she looked over Daria, Jane, and Jen, 'you would have caused less damage to the school if you had blown it up.'" (Part 13)

  • Daria/Dorian Ch.16: Sugar High, by LadieT (part 1): "Dorian and Mack had practice after school. Jane decided to watch from the stands. Taking out her sketch book, Jane didn't notice that Ms. Li had sat down near her until she heard Ms. Li talking on her cell phone. 'Your crew will be here when? They can't come then. That's when our first home game of the year is. The Saturday after the game is fine. Yes, I understand I will be charged more for making them work on a holiday weekend. Goodbye.'"

  • God Save The Esteem ep36: Occupational Hazard, by Charles RB (part 2): "'Come on, Daria. Put some effort in, you need to know this more than me.' The outcast put her pizza slice down slowly. 'What does that mean?' 'You know what I mean.' 'I don’t,' said Upchuck, eavesdropping. 'I take it that this is some remark about my parents,' said Daria, the temperature of her voice dropping to Jotenheim levels."

  • Homeless Daria Episode 4: Cafe Dispossessedo, by RX-87 (part 2): "'Wait, Mack? Woah, now!' Buddy gasped, a look of desperation overtaking the saggy thing that passed for his face, 'No, no, no. Listen, I don't know what he's told you, but I'm all paid up for the month! Me and the Colonel have an understanding, see, and I'm doing everything I can to hold up my part of the deal, ask anybody. No reason for him to...' 'Oh would you knock it off!' Jane shook her head in exasperation, 'I was just wondering if you had any laptops. My friend's been wanting a computer.'"

  • In My World, by 45Ranger (parts 3/4): "'As you can see, our Lawndale High students take great pride in their school. That's why you'll each be taking a small psychological exam to spot any little clouds on the horizon as you sail the student seas of Laaawwwndale High.' Daria said nothing but thought to herself. 'Oh great, this woman seems to be suffering delusions of grandeur and she wants us to take a psychological test. I’d better play along with it'"

  • LLH Mini - Timely Circumstances, by RLobinske (part 4): "'Third time is a charm, sweetie,' River said. 'Now Daria, are you really a superhero telepath?' 'Yes.' 'When my dreams come alive, I get the good ones.'"

  • Rise of the Green Goblin, by Jim North (parts 1 and 2): "Standing in the middle of the alley was another woman, though her age was hard to determine given that she was wearing a full body suit and a mask that obscured all her features. The suit and mask were predominantly blue and red in color, and the red areas were covered in a web motif and a large representation of a spider. Her eyes were covered by wide white lenses that almost seemed to glow in the dim light. 'Well now, what have we got here?'" (Part 2)

  • She's Gotta Have It!, by Chris Tucker (COMPLETE!): "'Jane! Did you get the coke?' 'Yeah, chill. I got it, amiga, I got it right here.'"

  • Stuck Inside Of Lawndale With The Metafic Blues Again (reposted material), by Gregor Samsa: "Critic #2: What if Kevin's confusion is actually a symptom of deep neurological disorder? Its getting worse and worse by the day, and no one's got a cure. Prognosis terminal, but he keeps it to himself. Everybody's been laughing at him so long they don't know he was actually dying. Won't they feel bad when it happens? Critic #1: You mean like Tommy Sherman? Critic #2: Yes, but better! Tommy died walking into a post. And off-camera! Drawn out, visible death is always more angsty than sudden death. [pause] Unless the world is destroyed with it." (New part)

  • Unnamed story (A QB Abroad), by Roentgen (COMPLETE!): "Kevin: These guys are like, totally cool because they are not allowed to move. I think it's a Federal law over here, or something. This is really great, because you can do whatever you want to do to these dudes...and they can't do anything about it!"

  • Unnamed story (Iron Chef: A Roll of the Die), by JPAGC, GlitterShrooms and Roentgen (parts 5 - 7): "Daria tried to lean down to catch the spilled money, but was stopped by the thought that she was still holding objects in both hands. As she tried to think how to handle that, however, Brett almost immediately went down on his knees and started to pick up the change. Daria stood there, pleasantly surprised, thinking how much of a tip she could afford to give him, when something clicked on her mind. 'WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU LOOKING AT, YOU PERVERT!?'" (Part 6) (Part 7)
