I'm Not Sure "Good" and "Mornings" Even Belong in the Same Sentence.

Happy TV Talk Show Host Day! Celebrate by trying not to shudder in horror at the disturbing smiles plastered on the faces of the hosts of "Good Mornings with Daria and Jane."

On the theme of Daria and Jane's talk show, you may also enjoy the fanfics (Change The Story) Morning Glory by The Excellent S, The Interview by abe, and Drive and Could Someone Turn Down the Sun? by The Angst Guy.

You can also check out this fanart by S.C. or this fanart by Christ Oliver. That one (creepy) alter ego was fodder for a huge amount of creativity!

In other news, three-quarters of the Fashion Club made a cameo appearance in the online comic strip "Mall Monkeys!" on this day in 2002. Those girls certainly do get around! I wonder, though--where was Quinn at the time?

Fanfic Update!
  • The Author as a Lesbian, Season 3, by DeacBlue (parts 1 and 2): "'I wanted to be sure that you understood the repercussions of your actions last year.' Her eyes narrowed. 'Listen, if you don't -'she began to say when he held his hand up. 'I am not criticizing your actions at that time. Besides the fact that I was not there to see, I happen to agree with your mother when she gave her testimony - this school has needed a housecleaning for the last several years.' He looked into her eyes. 'But, justified or not, the actions of you and your partners have let loose a hornet's nest in this school.'" (Part 2)

  • The Best Teacher (Iron Chef: Cast Against Type), by ST91 (COMPLETE!): "'Sorry professor, but I could not do my homework because I had to train for tomorrow's game.'"

  • BTTF: The Lazarus Experiment (Non-Daria), by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 1): "Marty saw the fire trails as the DeLorean reached 88 mph and travelled through time. He turned back to the house. But then he heard the triple sonic boom and the DeLorean landed again. Doc Brown hopped out of the DeLorean. 'Great Scott! Marty, did he say change what it means to be human?'"

  • Current Events, by Chris Tucker (COMPLETE!): "'Right. That settles it. Somehow, I am getting my family out of that damnfool jerkwater state and getting them up here. If I can get Dad set up as a cook in one of the Vietnamese restaurants, I can't see his Cajun-influenced take on traditional cuisine not being a hit. The problem is getting them up here, getting them a place to live, getting Mom and Dad work right away...'"

  • Daria is Raven's Apprentice, by project pegasus: "Daria: I feel like we should all be gathered in a library in some fancy mansion, seeing how Raven is about to reveal all the mysteries of this case. Raven: That’s enough, Daria. Daria: (histrionically) It was a dark and stormy night ... Raven: That’ll do, Daria! Daria: (mumbling) That’s what I get for trying to set the mood."

  • Daria/Power Rangers: Watching the Watchmen, by Charles RB (part 6): "Things would have ended there if Bulk hadn’t caught sight of something. Following his gaze and pointing, Daria saw... uh... She was Billy and Kimberly, of all people, dressed as punks. She was about to crack wise about it when she saw the two of them start pushing another student around – literally, they were pushing him – for no apparent reason except they could."

  • DW: The Many Doctors (Chapter 3), by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 3): "'You know this "Jack Harkness", Doctor?' Jia'hale asked. 'He does recognise him,' she thought. 'Absolutely, he helped me defeat the Master more than once,' the Doctor said. Jia'hale shuddered, remembering the last time she and the other companions had helped the Doctor to thwart the Master's schemes. 'That is good,' she uttered."

  • The Esteem of Haruhi Suzumiya, by Walter Kovacs (parts 1 and 2): "'What was wrong with our friends from highland' asked Haruhi who continued 'Besides for the fact that they don't know how to use a phone' and then sighed. 'Dad probably means friends who aren't mutants, Haruhi.' replied Daria with a slight smirk on her face." (Part 2)

  • Esteemsters From 50,000 BC (Scenes no Daria fanfic should have: Last Friday Night!), by Smijey (COMPLETE!): "'Girls, me want you know me and Helen know it not easy moving to whole new town in future after big freeze for many year -- even for you, Daria, right?'"

  • Every Man's Reason... (Iron Chef: Give me an Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!), by OverlordMikey (COMPLETE!): "Ted stood before the girls wearing the school colors; although he had to buy the clothes himself as the school didn't have male uniforms - yet. 'I wanna be a cheerleader...'"

  • The Hootenanny (Schroedinger Chef), by Roentgen (part 1): "While the student body watched in horrid fascination, a janitor inched his way closer to where several open plastic cups of pre-poured soda had been poured. Mrs. Bennett - the dispenser of soda - had gone to the car to look for her cell phone, leaving the source of refreshment unguarded."

  • I Can't Stop Loving You (Iron Chef: Occupy Lawndale), by RX-87 (COMPLETE!): "No, don't be a whiner, Daria scolded herself as she fidgeted with the strap of her backpack. Don't be like them. Despite her frustrations, she knew, on an intellectual level, why it would never work. Too used to the bread and circuses. Too many attachments. Or maybe they were just too damn nice. Not everybody has it in them to hate the world more than they love what few good things they have in it."

  • LLH Mini - Timely Circumstances , by RLobinske (COMPLETE!): "'Daria, I have good news. By chance, your telepathic resonance frequency matched the quantum frequency of the memory device. So, breaking the link between you and River is a fairly simple affair.' River said, 'All he has to do is break the memory device.' 'Disable,' the Doctor said. 'Okay, you disable things and I break them.'"

  • Rise of the Green Goblin, by Jim North (part 3): "'Sorry about that. I've just been busy lately.' 'No, hey, don't pay any attention to me,' he told her with a dismissive wave of his hand. 'You're still getting settled in, got a whole new life to figure out, I understand. As long as, y'know, I'm still gonna be a part of it. Y'know.' She leaned across the table and kissed him lightly on the cheek. 'You know you will be.'"

  • Stacy Rowe, Seeker (Pt.III), by jtranser: "'It's a quasilegal psychotropic substance derived from an endangered plant species. I'm sorry to have to ingest it before your shocked eyes, but it allows me to intensely concentrate on the most complicated sections of your illegal plan, modify it, then develop an effective implementation of same. All in a matter of a few moments. After I do that, I can stand around, wait for it to really kick in and get ripped...'"

  • Unnamed story (Iron Chef: Cast Against Type), by Walter Kovacs (COMPLETE!): "'You let Daria spend money on boys and... parties so don't stop me from buying the entire 10 volume set of Toynbee's "A Study of History"' whined Quinn."

  • Unnamed story (Iron Chef (SC): The Hootenanny), by DeacBlue (COMPLETE!): "'Look, Daria, clearly $20 a pop can keep out the riff-raff, but not the rats,' Jane said, as they saw a large rodent jump up on the drink table, put his nose in a cup, and take a long drink."
