Click, Click, Spend!

Quinn's all in for online shopping on Cyber Monday, and I wonder how the Fashion Club would feel about online shopping now that it's mainstream. On the one hand, you can't try the clothes on before you buy them and I'm sure the girls are all about the thrill of the hunt. On the other hand, no shopper's cramp and they can shop without having to mingle with undesirables. What do you think?

While everyone else is shopping, Mrs. Johanssen and I will just settle in for National Chocolates Day. Not that I need an excuse, of course.

Fanfic Update!
  • The Background Blues, by welltemperedclavier (parts 1 - 4): "Way at the back of the Lawndale High auditorium, out of mind and almost out of sight for the theater kids wiling away their lunch break on the stage and the front rows, stood Shane and Mason, up to no good." (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4)

  • A Daria and Quinn Christmas, by WildDogJJ (part 1 and 2): "Daria and Jane are standing in front of the school entrance as snow continues to fall. They are visibly uncomfortable." (Part 2)

  • Daria Ravenclaw: The Year of the Owl, by Meester_Lee (part 50): "'Where to next?' said Daria. 'Euston Station!' said Mr. Fink-Nottle. 'We’ll take a train from London to Birmingham, then catch another train home.'"

Oops, She Did It Again!

Avert your eyes from this disturbing alter ego, but also know that today is pop singer Britney Spears's 38th birthday! I'm sure Quinn will be happy to know, because I can easily see her as a fan.

Of course, Quinn will probably be busy shopping online today, because it's also Cyber Monday! By now the internet is pervasive enough that she probably doesn't need the assistance of any technical types, cute or otherwise.

Fanfic Update!
  • Back to Highland: A Daria/Worm Crossover, by Meester_Lee (part 8): "'And for our next discussion leader, I'd like to welcome Cynic,' said Thunderer, current head of the Las Vegas PRT."

  • Daria's Great Adventure, by dmsfanman (part 32): "The day had been long and really boring so far. It seemed totally incongruous to Daria that waking a sleeping alien should be something that made it so hard for her to keep her eyes open!"

  • Daria the teenage witch (Various Esteemsters), by Rémi (parts 1 and 2): "Jake is driving his daughters to school ; Quinn is riding shotgun, Daria is in the back seat. Jake : Girls, I just want you to know your mother and I realize it's not easy moving to a whole new town... We can trust you to be careful this time, right ?" (Part 2)

  • Edicius, by elainefr (part 19): "'Tom?' Daria was surprised to see him waiting for her when she had gotten home that evening. He was leaning against his car with his hands in his pockets looking down. He barely looked up at her when she said his name."

  • History lesson (SUPERIORS), by ST91 (COMPLETE!): "The bell rang, marking the end of the lesson. Very well, that's it for today. Have a nice vacation. Said an afroamerican woman in her late 30's."

  • Lucy in the Sky with Daria, by Blake C Stacey (COMPLETE!): "A borrowed space in late summer, between the arboretum soil and the branches of a weeping linden. Two young women. 'Jane, when did we meet? For the first time?'"

  • One Scrunchie to Rule the Mall, by Kristen Bealer (COMPLETE!): "Three girls sat on the floor, staring at the Mickey Mouse clock on Stacy Rowe's bedroom wall. • Remember Me, by Lady Evil (part 1): "OK, don't be nervous. Clarissa told herself as she approached the new club rooms at Cedars of Lawndale. It's just a guitar lesson. You don't have to impress him or anything."

  • Time and time again (Various Esteemsters), by Rémi (part 1): "Jake is driving his daughters to school ; Quinn is riding shotgun, Daria is in the back seat. Jake : Girls, I just want you to know your mother and I realize it's not easy moving to a whole new town -- especially for you, Daria, right?"

  • Unconventional life choices (Various Esteemsters), by Rémi (part 1): "Jake is driving his daughters to school ; Quinn is riding shotgun, Daria is in the back seat. Jake : Girls, I just want you to know your mother and I realize it's not easy moving to a whole new town... And we don't want things to become difficult for both of you, do you understand ?"

  • The Walking Dead, by Sofa King (COMPLETE!): "Dear Diary: October 3: This afternoon turned into a 'smother' day with Mom. I knew as soon as I walked through the door and saw her flipping through old photo albums that I was in for it."

Here's Looking at You, Kiddo

Daria and Trent shippers (boo!) can rejoice at this alter ego, portraying the duo as Rick and Ilsa from the movie Casablanca. Starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, the film premiered on this day in 1942.

Today is also Cyber Monday, which the Fashion Club will most likely be participating in--if they can get over their fear of appearing to be (ugh!) computer geeks.

Holiday Shopping Madness Season Is Here

It's that time of year again, when we get talked into going broke buying stupid things (like encyclopedias) for people who didn't want them in the first place. I'm doing all my shopping online. Not gonna see me stuck in traffic in a mall parking lot, no way.

If Daria was remade today, what would it be like? Go here and express yourself.

Pinhead has created Tiffany art.

OverlordMikey needs assistance with a fanfic idea.

A new Iron Chef: Legionnaires on the Air! Brother Grimace seems to have struck gold with this one.

Some excellent fanfic here. Dive in!

PPMB
  • Daria: The Untold Story, by Ajar (preview): Why terrorism prevented the release of Daria on DVD: The launch of the DVD of a show as popular as Daria would lead to an event with so much publicity and so many people would be just too tempting of a target. Besides, a teenage girl who questions everything isn't exactly the united front we want to show to our enemies. Remember, a sassy mouth means the terrorists win.
  • Finn Morgendorffer 17: Through Your Eyes, by HolyGrail2007 (COMPLETE!): At school, Finn’s suspicions were quickly confirmed by catching a glimpse of Daria walking to her second period without her glasses. Jane was serving as a guide, but he thought he caught Jane say something about Daria simply being blurry. Jane thinks she still has the contacts in, Finn concluded. That could be the only reasonable conclusion to draw.
  • John Lane 44: Fizzy Logic, by Richard Lobinske (Part 2): "You're planning to make soda companies bid against each other for the right to market their products in Lawndale High?" "That's right. All you kids have to do is what you'd do anyway: drink soda." "Does that mean that everywhere I turn I'll run into a vending machine?"
  • Reaped Out 2: Sickle Sad World, by Pinkminx (Part 12): Daria watched as Rube handed out the Post-Its containing the days reaps. She counted them silently as he stacked hers in front of her. "One… two… three, looks like a busy day," She mused to herself and let out a tired sigh.
  • Unnamed story (Iron Chef: Legionnaires on the Air!), by Night Goblyn (COMPLETE!): “Alright, and welcome back.” Jon Stewart smiled at the camera as the show came back from the commercial break. “So, we've got a real treat lined up for tonight, like I was saying earlier, so let's have a legion of applause for Miss Daria Morgendorffer!”
  • Unnamed story (Iron Chef: Legionnaires on the Air!), by Roentgen (COMPLETE!): "And now... the guest host of Saturday Night Live... Charles Ruttheimer the Third!"

CyberQuinn Goes Shopping

One of the links on the Quinn page (see previous posting) goes to a page called GurlGarb. It is an online shopping site where Quinn can find ways to drain her parents' bank account at her leisure.

About half the page doesn't load, but what is there is amusing enough. The image at left is a PRINT SCREEN capture and is large; click on it and smile.
