Send In the Economics Teachers

Not sure if Mrs. Bennett is trying to be the tallest teacher at Lawndale High or she's celebrating the anniversary of Charles Ringling's birth on this day in 1863. Ringling, of course, was one of the owners of the Ringling Brothers Circus, and if Ms. Li finds out one of her teachers is trying to turn her school into a literal circus she's going to be furious. Hold on while I make some popcorn.

Today is also Britney Spears's birthday, and I only bring it up so you know that I could have used the Ms. Barch-as-Britney alter ego instead. You're welcome.

Oops, She Did It Again!

Avert your eyes from this disturbing alter ego, but also know that today is pop singer Britney Spears's 38th birthday! I'm sure Quinn will be happy to know, because I can easily see her as a fan.

Of course, Quinn will probably be busy shopping online today, because it's also Cyber Monday! By now the internet is pervasive enough that she probably doesn't need the assistance of any technical types, cute or otherwise.

Fanfic Update!
  • Back to Highland: A Daria/Worm Crossover, by Meester_Lee (part 8): "'And for our next discussion leader, I'd like to welcome Cynic,' said Thunderer, current head of the Las Vegas PRT."

  • Daria's Great Adventure, by dmsfanman (part 32): "The day had been long and really boring so far. It seemed totally incongruous to Daria that waking a sleeping alien should be something that made it so hard for her to keep her eyes open!"

  • Daria the teenage witch (Various Esteemsters), by Rémi (parts 1 and 2): "Jake is driving his daughters to school ; Quinn is riding shotgun, Daria is in the back seat. Jake : Girls, I just want you to know your mother and I realize it's not easy moving to a whole new town... We can trust you to be careful this time, right ?" (Part 2)

  • Edicius, by elainefr (part 19): "'Tom?' Daria was surprised to see him waiting for her when she had gotten home that evening. He was leaning against his car with his hands in his pockets looking down. He barely looked up at her when she said his name."

  • History lesson (SUPERIORS), by ST91 (COMPLETE!): "The bell rang, marking the end of the lesson. Very well, that's it for today. Have a nice vacation. Said an afroamerican woman in her late 30's."

  • Lucy in the Sky with Daria, by Blake C Stacey (COMPLETE!): "A borrowed space in late summer, between the arboretum soil and the branches of a weeping linden. Two young women. 'Jane, when did we meet? For the first time?'"

  • One Scrunchie to Rule the Mall, by Kristen Bealer (COMPLETE!): "Three girls sat on the floor, staring at the Mickey Mouse clock on Stacy Rowe's bedroom wall. The hands crawled to one minute past seven, and Quinn bounced up to sit on the bed--the official seat for the President of the Fashion Club."

  • Remember Me, by Lady Evil (part 1): "OK, don't be nervous. Clarissa told herself as she approached the new club rooms at Cedars of Lawndale. It's just a guitar lesson. You don't have to impress him or anything."

  • Sandi's Wonderful Life (Life After Thirty), by WildDogJJ (COMPLETE!): "Quinn, Stacy, Lindy and Brittany along with their husbands are frantically awaiting word on Sandi's condition. Stacy is hysterical." (Part 3)

  • Time and time again (Various Esteemsters), by Rémi (part 1): "Jake is driving his daughters to school ; Quinn is riding shotgun, Daria is in the back seat. Jake : Girls, I just want you to know your mother and I realize it's not easy moving to a whole new town -- especially for you, Daria, right?"

  • Unconventional life choices (Various Esteemsters), by Rémi (part 1): "Jake is driving his daughters to school ; Quinn is riding shotgun, Daria is in the back seat. Jake : Girls, I just want you to know your mother and I realize it's not easy moving to a whole new town... And we don't want things to become difficult for both of you, do you understand ?"

  • The Walking Dead, by Sofa King (COMPLETE!): "Dear Diary: October 3: This afternoon turned into a 'smother' day with Mom. I knew as soon as I walked through the door and saw her flipping through old photo albums that I was in for it."

Well. Ms. Barch Has Finally Lost Her Mind.

I'm pulling out one of the more disturbing alter egos because today is Britney Spears's birthday! I doubt even the Fashion Club would admit to being fans of the pop star, but it is relevant to fandom to point out that we have Ms. Spears to thank for the frequent misspellings of Brittany Taylor's first name in fanfic.

Fanfic Update!
  • The Big Piece Of Chicken (My Annual Thanksgiving Fanfic Release - 2013!), by Brother Grimace (COMPLETE!): "He lifted the box, which acted as a cover – and whistled a soft tune of admiration as he looked upon what Jane had left for him. 'Impressive, my young Lady Lane. Most impressive, indeed.'"

  • Fear and Loathing in Law Enforcement, by LongSnakeMoan (part 2): "At the window stood the tiny figure of Todd Ianuzzi, waving innocently as his father was being arrested and his mother was being held back by officers, stopped from reaching her husband and shouting words no woman should ever say."

  • The Great and the Good: A Great Deal of Trouble, by ognawk (COMPLETE!): "Conrad Lanser was still looking over Alison's work with an air of concentration, stroking his beard as he did so. He didn't notice Alison walk up near to him, wine glass in hand." (Part 3)

  • Her Friend, by macross (part 3): "It had all begun with the phone waking her up at 8:25 am in her Boston apartment, after managing to find the accursed set on her nightstand she was bewildered to see the caller ID read Morgendorffer. Upon answering it she was alarmed to hear her six-year-old niece tearfully whimper, 'Aunt Amy please come get me.'"

  • Losers No More, by Shiva (COMPLETE!): "'So,' Jane drawled as one of the J's walked by while holding an icepack over his swelling face, 'On a scale of one to ten, ten being the highest, how much of a train wreck was tonight's festivities?'"

  • Loss of Heart, by RLobinske (part 5): "After several minutes of reading in silence, Quinn said, 'Daria?' 'Yes?' 'Are you ready to go back to school Monday?'"

  • Rude Awakening: The Holidays in NE are just as crazy!, by DIsaac (part 2): "DARIA: You know I can take solace in the fact that Sandi will NEVER EVER wear a Christmas Sweater in her life. (Sandi walks in with an extremely loud Christmas Sweater) SANDI: How does it look? DARIA: Oh. My. God. When did becoming a mom mean you lose all fashion sense?"

Yes, Yes, It's True

Today is Britney Spears' birthday. Let's just leave it at that. Thank you, Janet Barch.

PPMB
  • Chipping in for a New Friend, by Richard Lobinske (COMPLETE!): "Hey, are those cookies?" "Cookie!" "Wanna split them?" "COOKIE!"
  • Daria vs. Her Big Stupid Pride, by Ticknart (Part 1): Looking at herself, she realized that most of the changes she'd made in her appearance had been to make dodging super-hero antics easier. She didn't want to be caught in a skirt when scooped up by some flying moron. That was not a show she wanted to put on, thank you very much. The sneakers were better for dodging debris. Hair pulled back didn't get in her eyes while trying to take notes for a story as some idiot speedster raced around to create mini tornadoes or to put out a fire or to dissipate a freeze beam. As much as people in The City didn't like to admit it, things could get pretty dangerous.
  • Finn Morgendorffer 18: Dance Fever, by HolyGrail2007 (Parts 1 and 2): “You want me to fix you up?” Finn asked. Robert nodded. This happened rather frequently ever since Stacy had become popular. Knowing about Finn and Stacy’s close relationship, a guy would ask Finn, or a girl would ask Stacy, to arrange a date.
  • Reaped Out 2: Sickle Sad World, by Pinkminx (Parts 13 and 14): “My name is Artie Glick, and I want to thank each and every one of you for coming today to witness my, and hopefully your, ultimate encounter.” The crowd cheered and spurred Artie on. “As you by now all know, I have had many encounters with visitors from other worlds, but I now have proof. I have seen them, the purple creatures.”
  • Tom Sloane Hosts Saturday Night Live, by Brother Grimace (COMPLETE!): "This... is... The City. The Big Apple, my favorite city in the entire world! I’m Tom Sloane, and I can’t tell you how much it absolutely, positively ROCKS to host Saturday Night Live! Of course, it would have been nice if I’d been asked to do the show before you asked my brother Legionnaire, Charles Ruttheimer."
  • Wings, by MidnightStorm (Part 1): The forest went on forever as she ran to escape the Hunters. The trees seemed to grow taller with thicker leaves. One of the Hunters, the Alpha, ripped off her boots while attacking her. Bite marks were all around her ankles. She was lucky another one of her kind distracted them. She had once known all of them, before they became the wolflike creatures they were now.

A Very Special Message About Boobs

October is GOOD BOOBS Awareness Month. Okay, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but I don't like using "breast" and "cancer" in the same sentence (who does?). Too many of my friends have had it. Do whatever you need to do to ensure the healthy, happy condition of your favorite boobs. They will love you for it. 'Nuff said.

Janet Barch, as Britney Spears, is here to show her global support (sorry) for B.C.A.M. The background is also pink, which is important, because those people with boobs also like pink.

I am very very very far behind on cataloging fanfics and art, having been offline for two days, but will try to catch up by this weekend. I came up with some interesting ideas and will try them out later. Peace.
