Who's the Copycat Artist NOW?
Daria has gotten in touch with her inner artist in honor of the anniversary of Andy Warhol's birth on this day in 1928. Jane, meanwhile, has gotten in touch with her inner art subject and is probably silently critiquing Daria's technique.
If Trent ever got that job as a farmer paid not to grow crops, then let's wish him a happy Farmworker Appreciation Day! On second thought, we'd better not. It would be a shame to wake him up.
Happy birthday to the World Wide Web, which got its start on this day in 1991! I hope Jake gets the opportunity to log onto the world wide weberverse and check on the panda-cam.

Forget Fame; Daria Wants Her Fifteen Minutes of Obscurity
Daria's trying her hand at some pop art in honor of Andy Warhol's birth on this day in 1928, and I think Jane would approve. I don't think the Fashion Club would approve, though. I mean, look at that hair! And the oufit! Ewwwwwww!!
Today is also National Root Beer Float Day, so join Jake in trading in that root beer in a frosty cold can for a root beer in a frosty cold mug with ice cream!
Fanfic Update!
- Backseat for No One, by Backseat for No One (part 11): "That Sunday in the late afternoon after watching Brittany tightly hug her sister Daria reproduced on her bed the supine posture she had assumed on top of a park bench."

Daria's Fifteen Minutes of Fame
Daria's wishing a happy birthday to the late artist Andy Warhol, who was born on this day in 1928. Jane's probably jealous that she's only featured in the alter ego as the artwork rather than the artist, but she can share the spotlight. She's probably used to that by now, anyway.
Today is also National Root Beer Float Day, so help yourself to a scoop of ice cream and a root beer...in a frosty cold can!

Daria's Going for Her Fifteen Minutes of Fame
Daria's stepping on Jane's turf today for Andy Warhol's birthday, but at least Jane gets a cameo role. Daria's looking less than impressed by her homage to the pop artist, although perhaps she's just starting to understand Jane's distaste for painting copies.
Today is also National Root Beer Float Day, so feel free to treat yourself to some ice cream and a nice root beer...from a frosty cold can. Go on; I won't tell Helen.

Pop Art Beats Pop Music, Anyway
Happy birthday to the late Andy Warhol, who was born on this day in 1928. Jane is kindly allowing Daria to portray the artist here, perhaps as some kind of post-modern experiment involving artist vs. subject. Or not.
Today is also National Root Beer Float Day, so now Jake can switch out his root beer in a frosty cold can for a frosty cold mug topped with ice cream.

Wait Until You See Her Ultra Cola Cans Masterpiece!
Happy birthday to the late artist Andy Warhol, born in this day in 1928. Warhol was known for his pop art, including the Marilyn Diptych, which is parodied in the alter ego on the right.
Today is also the anniversary of the first use of the electric chair in 1890. Ms. Li--or at least the Ms. Li from Daria's dream in "Murder, She Snored"--is a big fan of the device. Daria, on the other hand, would prefer to ban capital punishment and bring back torture instead.

One RBF, Comin' Up!

The World Wide Web is 19 years old today, almost legally old enough to drink. Here is a snapshot of its birth. Also having birthdays today are Kevin Mitnick, mega-hacker; Geri Halliwell, ex-Spice Girl; director M. Night Shyamalan ("I see dead people"); and Pop icon creator Andy Warhol. Two of the above had Daria alter-egos drawn for them. Can you guess which ones? Click and see.

Your Fifteen Minutes of Fame Are Up

Speaking of birthdays, today is the (believe it or not) 17th birthday of the World Wide Web. Yes, it is. The Web came to life on the Internet this day in 1991, available to the public. Now, thanks to the WWW (and Al Gore), you can be anywhere on Earth and still be able to find a picture of a cat saying, "I CAN HAZ CHEEZBURGR?" Amazing. We don't have flying cars or world peace, but lolcats are everywhere. Go figure.
Cataloger of the paranormal Charles Fort was born 134 years ago today. It is a certainty that Daria, by her known habits and interests, would know of Fort. He is mentioned in a nightmarish fanfic by Dervish ("An Ill Wind"), and one of his books on enigmas and unexplained events, The Book of the Damned, is mentioned in another fanfic. Anyone wishing to write a Daria fanfic involving the supernatural or the bizarre would do well to thumb through his works. He was not an occultist, but rather a researcher fascinated by reports of UFOs, ghosts, sea monsters, strange fossils, paranormal human powers, extraordinary weather (such as rains of frogs or fish), and so on.
Oh, and two long-running serial friends are still in the running!
