A Cheesy Holiday

Ted is enjoying a nice big serving of processed cheese for Cheese Pizza Day, and he probably still doesn't know what process they use to make it. Hopefully Daria will take extra care to avoid cheese burn, but that's something the Fashion Club with their cheeseless pizza will never have to worry about.

Trent, meanwhile, will almost definitely celebrate Be Late for Something Day, although I don't know if it counts as "late" if you oversleep and miss the whole thing.

Finally, feel free to do something for the less fortunate in honor of International Day of Charity! You could read to seniors, help out with cow skull-related arts and crafts at the children's hospital, or just donate some go-go boots and a belly chain to a clothing drive. The sky's the limit!

Fanfic Update!
  • But You Always Knew the Truth, by riotsquirrrl (part 9): "Daria unclipped the roll of film she’d hung up the night before. Holding it up to the orange light of the photo lab, she carefully snipped the film and slipped it into the plastic sleeves."

  • Dungeons and Ditzes, by AngryKnife (part 1): "The TV hummed, and the announcer spoke over a dramatic guitar riff: 'Suburban Book Club Accidentally Summons Literary-Criticism-Demon During Discussion of Beach Read. A Sick Sad World Exclusive!'"

  • The Muliebrity, by janendaria4life (part 6): "Camp had been going on for a couple weeks and it was the beginning of July."

  • Mysteries of Aurora, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 19): "'You're also looking for others?' 'Also, for someone who does specialize in the Mid-Ancient Era,' Olivia added."

  • Star Trek: Voyager Alone, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (COMPLETE!): "Neelix was stressing. Voyager had told him that Kes had been beamed back, but she had told him about her people’s closed minded views. He was sure that she would be affected by her brief time down there."

  • Timmy the Bully, by wilddogjj (part 2): "Quinn, Jim and the triplets were at the table eating dinner while the family dog, Stripe, sat on the floor and occasionally begged for table scraps."

Beware of Cheese Burn!

Ted's not enjoying National Cheese Pizza Day, but that may be because he just figured out what kind of process they use. I guess the Fashion Club will be sitting this one out, waiting for "National Cheese-less Pizza Day."

Speaking of the Fashion Club, today is also International Day of Charity, so this would be an excellent opportunity to collect some go-go boots and belly chains for the needy. Or you could do something useful, I guess.

Fanfic Update!
  • Crystal Claw, by Sheila Wisz Ellayn (part 12): "Quite in a similar fashion to other High Schools in that part of the country, Lawndale High was a varied collection of reddish buildings surrounded by gardens, a parking lot of decent size and a nice football field for the school's team to practice and play important matches in."

  • How to Train Your Jock, by WildDogJJ (COMPLETE!): "Daria was sitting on the couch while her cat, Godzilla, purred on her lap. Daria herself was talking on the phone."

  • Reborn: The Origin Story Of Burnout Girl, by radiofox (part 5): "'Hello Garfield, I need you to come to my house as soon as possible; it's an emergency!'"

  • Spare The Rod, Spoil the Quinn, by wilddogjj (part 1): "Quinn and Stacy were having lunch at Pizza King. While the place is a teen hangout the thirty-something best friends still like to eat here for sentimental reasons."

  • Sporting Kevin, by Kristen Bealer (part 2): "That night, Kevin lay in his racecar bed and stared at the ceiling, trying not to listen to his parents argue."

Does Anyone Actually Like Cheeseless Pizza?

Poor Tom and Daria are super disappointed because today is Cheese Pizza Day and some thoughtless Pizza Prince employee appears to have forgotten to put cheese on their pizza. I'm not going to name any names--Artie--but I have my suspicions.

Today is also Be Late for Something Day, so be sure to celebrate that holiday tomorrow. Get it?

You Had ONE JOB!

Daria and Tom are very disappointed that they ordered what appears to be cheeseless pizza on Cheese Pizza Day. For shame, you two. For shame.

Today is also Be Late for Something Day, so maybe the cheese just hasn't arrived yet. I would say that this is Trent's kind of holiday, except that Trent is generally late for everything.

Fanfic Update!
  • Danny Morgendorffer, by ST91 (part 13): "What a great way to end the day. Daniel thought sarcastically as he changed into the locker room. P.E had always been his sworn enemy."

  • Happy Adversity, by Lady Evil (part 9): "'Well, it's been a week since I had any bad dreams.' Link said at one of his therapy sessions with Dr. Becky. 'I haven't stolen anything since Jake told me not to. And at Thanksgiving I didn't hit Quinn with a pie, even though I really, really wanted to. I haven't cussed at any teachers, no matter how stupid they were. So I'm cured, right?'"

A Cheesy Holiday

Sorry, Ted, but it's Cheese Pizza Day and your slice clearly has toppings on it. Half-credit because you did remember the processed cheese, especially because by now you've probably figured out the exact process by which it's made and you were brave enough to eat it anyway.

Today is also Be Late for Something Day, and it's a sure bet that Trent will celebrate this one. Hmmm. Is there a "Be Late for Everything" holiday?

Fanfic Update!
  • Blizzard, by peetz5050 (part 1): "'Alright, yes I am grumpy, thank you.' Daria replied to Jane's mild criticism."

  • Lawndale Z, by Kuriamo22 (part 9): "A while after Jane and Daria split up Jane had returned to the cave with their capsule house and buried the Dragonball they stole from Frieza nearby. While she was waiting outside and admiring the strange blue green grass of Namek she heard a beeping noise coming from her jacket pocket."

  • My Darlin' Daria! (World's Shortest Crossover, Part XIV: The Crossover Awakens!), by Shiva (COMPLETE!): "Daria: My name is Daria, I'm six years old... [inhales before dramatically declaring] And i'm a beauty queen!"

  • Open Gym, by Brother Grimace (COMPLETE!): "'So, Mack - I thought football was your game.' 'Hey, Sarge. Football's my thing - but I try to make it over here for "open gym" at least twice a week, to hang out with the kids.'"

  • Unnamed story (LLH - Short Entries), by Roentgen (parts 39 - 41): "The Fukunaga Manufacturing Concern shut the plant doors for one shift. The workers had been told that as a result of total quality management, there would be a necessary upgrade to the manufacturing software that required taking every computer-assisted manufacturing process off-line." (Part 40) (Part 41)

Watch Out for that Cheese Burn

Daria and Tom look miserable because they forgot today was National Cheese Pizza Day and seem to have accidentally ordered pizza with toppings but no cheese. Must be the Fashion Club special.

Today is also Be Late for Something Day, and Trent will get right on that just as soon as he remembers what it was he was supposed to be late for.

Fanfic Update!
  • Ah, Hell, by metameric1 (part 21): "He sat on the edge of the bed, looking around. This was home, where they had lived together for the last two and a half years."

  • Sonoma Coma, by jtranser (part 17): "Brittany continued her presentation: 'A top cheerleader has to have good bounce, swing and volume.' Jane smirked and said: 'And that's just the hair. O.K., Brittany, what's the next item on the agenda?'"

  • Star Trek: Daria - Resurrection, by echopapa (part 10): "Daria was finally able to excuse herself and return to her table with Counselor Troi who had been watching her encounter with Worf with amusement. 'Whew!' said Daria. 'Is he usually that talkative'"

The Extra Quart of Grease is Completely Optional

Pull up a chair and grab a slice to celebrate National Cheese Pizza Day! Ted is shocked by his first taste of processed cheese, although he still wants to know what process they use. I think the rest of us are happier living in blissful ignorance.

I would say that Trent is celebrating Be Late For Something Day, but the lazy bastard hasn't shown up yet. Depressing or not, someone really needs to get that guy a watch.

Fanfic Update!
  • Climb the Ladder, by InvisibleDan (COMPLETE!): "Jane answered her cell phone. 'Yeah, I'll be there... I swear I'm on my way, Quinn, okay?' She put the phone down and rubbed her eyes. After a quick look around her room she found the pieces of an outfit and slipped them on."

  • Credence, by Astrocar82 (part 3): "Soon the time had come and Quinn and Stacy walked uncertainly to their doom, where they saw Jane and O'Neill waiting for them in the room next to the stage of the auditorium."

  • Dylan, by J-D (part 27): "I still have to agree that my father's reasoning was basically sound. I did nearly run over that dog while I was having my driving lesson, and contact lenses really would avoid the problem my glasses create for my peripheral vision, so I'm in agreement on principle—but do you know what you have to do when you're putting in contact lenses?"

  • The Fall, by Ranger Thorne (COMPLETE!): "The gathering dusk had brought in a light fog, leaving the city with a slight haze. There, in front of the massive front gates, were two cloaked figures. Neither was exceptionally tall, but even from his office he could sense their menace and power 'Get the slayers, won't you?' he told his assistant. 'Have them arm themselves then meet me at the gate.'"

  • The Great And The Good, by ognawk (parts 13 and 14): "'Look, Daria, there's something I need to tell you,' he said, looking her straight in the eye, 'I'm not proud of it, but I want to be completely honest with you.'" (Part 14)

  • GSA: The "Cousins" Morgendorffer, by GDTSP9 (part 1): "Daria sighed. She'd been waiting outside the airport for ages now, and Quinn still hadn't shown up. As Daria looked around, she almost didn't see the mid-sized grey car pull up in front of her. Quinn leaped out of the car and tightly hugged her sister."

  • A New Direction (Iron Chef: My Dad, the director), by peetz5050 (parts 9 and 10): "'Uh oh.' Jane said then touched Daria's sleeve and pointed at the door. Daria turned around to see two of the school security staff accompanying a large, threatening cumulo nimbus cloud in an Armani suit. Jammy glared at her and indicated the door with a jerk of his head." (Part 10)

  • Quinn the Psychopath, by SacredDust (parts 7 and 8): "Daria knew she would have to fight hard to stem the tide of Quinn's relentless quest for even more popularity (even if Quinn herself didn't see it as much). She illustrated her strategy with some of the hideous clay models they had made for a school project years ago." (Part 8)

  • Red World, by PrecambrianStudios (part 1): "John Crichton slowly opened his eyes and was met with the usual darkness. Groggily, he turned his head left, and looked out the adjoining window. The stars were arranged in a formation he was not familiar with. 'Well,' he said, reluctantly stretching on his mattress, realizing what day it was, 'I guess today's it. Lights on.'"

  • Shaggy Meets the Twins! (Scenes that should be: Pacific Rimmers), by Shiva (COMPLETE!): "In the dumb self-esteem class, the kid everyone called Shaggy couldn't resist a smirk as that new girl and her twin brother acted like they were secretly lovers, causing Mr. O'Neill to go into shock and pass out."

  • Unnamed story (IC: DeMartino has Barch Arrested), by CartoonDork (COMPLETE!): "'What the hell do you think you're doing? Get your hands off of me, you dirty rotten men!' It was certainly a sight to see--Ms. Janet Barch being handcuffed by two policemen, right in the middle of her science class. "

IT'S NATIONAL CHEESE PIZZA DAY, HOORAY!

Yes, it is National Cheese Pizza Day, and as a Daria trufan you must go forth (put down the chocolate first, you know who you are) and consume mass quantities of cheese pizza. I hope to do this myself as a tribute to my role model: Jane Lane.

Okay, she's not really my role model, but she is cool. Daria did have an important thing to say about pizza, if you recall.

This is the 1,300th post to the Daria Fandom Blog II. I can't believe it. This is what happens when you have no life.

This interesting bit of news about Marvel Comics (soon an outlying province of Mickey's Empire) coming out with a comic book about a superhero fashion designer reminded me that even the Fashion Club needs a superhero, and Tim Gunn is obviously going to be that superhero. As Quinn someday will say....

Aren't these quotes great?

How odd: Wildgoose's Daria site was last updated almost exactly seven years ago. Talk about timing.

PPMB
  • Love Is a Series of Burning Sensations, by Undefinedlust (Part 12, teaser): Quinn nodded in relief then slowly began to speak again. "Look, I know you don't need the stress, but I have to warn you about something..."
  • Reaped Out: Act 2—Sickle Sad World, by Pinkminx (Part 4): Helen eyed her youngest daughter. "Your father has arranged for us to meet with a psychologist that deals with families that have experienced loss... Quinn, why are you drinking coffee? Isn't it against the Fashion Club's bylaws?" Quinn sat and took a large mouthful. "It doesn't matter," she replied quietly as she reached for a copy of Waif.
  • The Runaway, by Aloysius (COMPLETE!): “Sometime, you need to get on the Internet and look up a man named Todd Ianuzzi. He was from Highland, and was a local thug and criminal. That is, until he passed out drunk one night...."
  • StaCee TV, by Roentgen (COMPLETE!): It was mid-August. Daria's time at Camp It's Okay to Cry was over. Jane was back home, having given her blessing to the Daria/Tom relationship. Tom was at his aunt's house. All is well. [Ha!]
