E.T. Phone...the Mall

Tiffany is ready to celebrate First Contact Day, but alien enthusiasts everywhere will be disappointed. After all, they've been hoping to find intelligent life on other planets.

Fortunately, it's also Deep Dish Pizza Day, and no one can be sad when they have pizza. In Daria's own words, "there's no aspect, no facet, no moment of life that can't be improved with pizza."

Finally, happy Easter to everyone in fandom who celebrates! Thanks to the Wayback Machine, you can enjoy a festive batch of Easter-themed Daria stories and fanart from the Sh33p's Fluff.

Fanfic Update!
  • Captain or Hero?, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 1): "Captain Erica Browne looked at the planet from her ready room window. Beowulf had arrived in high orbit earlier in the day."

Do Aliens Eat Pizza?

Artie is serving up a delicious pizza for Deep Dish Pizza Day! Being from the Midwest, I absolutely love Chicago style pizza, so I'll be participating if at all possible. (Sorry, Daria fans from New York.)

Once Artie has dropped off this order, maybe he can tell everyone about his experience with aliens, because it's First Contact Day. I'm not sure why aliens would choose to use their first contact with Earth to perform a skin transplant and press some pants, but I guess there are some mysteries beyond our understanding.

I hope that, whatever their reasons, the aliens had good moral intentions in keeping with International Day of Conscience. When in doubt, listen to the angel on your shoulder and not the devil...unless you're Daria, in which case the devil makes a compelling argument in favor of humiliating Quinn.

Take Me To Your Pizzeria!

Daria's ready for First Contact Day, although I'm sure she's much more interested in celebrating No Contact Day. I suppose that's what the ray-gun is for. "Alien love goddess" my ass!

If any aliens contact you, please invite them to join you for a slice of Chicago-style for Deep Dish Pizza Day! Although be careful; they may want to put weird alien toppings on it like space rocks or plutonium chunks or...ugh...pineapple.

  • Hometown Movies, by wilddogjj (COMPLETE!): "Quinn has unexpectedly found herself drawn into a conservative culture war. A Republican-led House Committee is trying to determine the potential harms of social media on America's youth." (Part 2) (Part 3)

  • Oh No No, by Val_Creative (COMPLETE!): "'DAAAAAARIAAAA!' Outside of Daria's bedroom, Quinn hollers, furiously stomping in. That boring brain of a sister won't get away with this—"

  • Pizazz, by FictionAuthorofFiction (COMPLETE!): "Despite what her teenage brain liked to tell her, Daria knew she wasn't exactly unique. There were thousands, if not millions, of people just like her in the world."

It Was One Slice Too Many....

Looks like Daria and Jane overdid it for Deep Dish Pizza Day, but someone should have warned them that deep dish is more filling than regular pizza. Not that that would have stopped them. For those two, "pizza" and "moderation" don't go together.

Watch Out For Cheese Burn!

Ted seems a little worried about National Deep Dish Pizza Day. Perhaps someone finally told him what process they use on the cheese. I'm sure Daria and Jane enjoy this holiday, but Quinn is still waiting for someone to create National Cheeseless Pizza Day. However you enjoy your pizza, be sure to ask them to add the extra quart of grease for maximum canon!

Mmm...Processed Cheese

Daria and Tom look surprisingly sad for National Deep Dish Pizza Day, but perhaps that's just because they ordered thin crust by mistake. Everyone else out there can take the excuse to have some pizza today, but watch out for cheese burn and excess grease.

Fanfic Update!
  • The Backgrounders Rock (Scenes No Daria fanfic should have: 600 Years Afterward.....), by Shiva (COMPLETE!): "While Bob Rollins was slaying it on the stage of the Zon, working his guitar like there was no tomorrow, Andrea Hebuca was supplying the vocals by singing one of her depressing poems."

  • Community of Creativity, by LadieTAG (part 2): "Lawnville's Town Hall had been flooded with calls all morning with last minute vendors wanting to set up booths. Vendor requests had to be in by ten that morning or they would be out of luck."

Let's Hope Artie Won't Be Delivering It!

Happy National Deep Dish Pizza Day, pizza lovers! I don't know if either Pizza Prince or Pizza Forest serve deep dish pizza, but I'm sure Daria will be happy to settle for the ordinary kind if no other is available. Just as long as they add the extra quart of grease to the recipe and no giant woodland creatures try to sing at her.

Hey, everyone! It's National Deep Dish Pizza Day! Enjoy a slice at Pizza Prince, where they throw in an extra quart of grease for free, or try some at Pizza Forest, where giant woodland creatures will serenade you while you eat until you yell at them to go away.

Line Up & Order Up!

Another major fandom holiday! Today is National Deep Dish Pizza Day! It was started by a Chicago pizza restaurant chain, so that figures, but hey, it's all for Daria, so get one and dig in.

Oddly, today is also Qing Ming, a.k.a. Tomb Sweeping Day in China (including Taiwan), which is exactly what it sounds like. However, there is more to the story than that, as it is also a real get-the-day-off holiday and is a sort of Chinese Valentine's Day, too. Cool.

NO0Z!
  • Roentgen has started an intriguing Iron Chef: The Celeb Interview, in which you interview one of the Daria cast in the world today, as if they had been real people. Try it!

  • NEW! Another Lawndale's Episode, by Silver (Part 1): "Something feels off." "Must be a new test." "Or a pep rally." "Or a giant robot."
  • A Cynic in New York, by Roentgen (COMPLETE!): I was waiting for Daria Morgendorffer. The one truth about Daria is that she doesn't do interviews. But somehow, I managed to get an in with her publicist and we managed to meet at Pulse, a chic cafe over Rockefeller Center for lunch and a brief chat.
  • The Dream of the White Darkness, by jtranser (continued): One thing was certain, this was not going to be an ordinary nuclear test.
  • NEW! Finn Morgendorffer 41: It's Called Boston, by HolyGrail2007 (Part 3): “Finn?” Jane wondered groggily. “Daria and Tom? I must be having a very weird dream... no, I’m not covered in honey dijon dressing.”
  • General Semantics, Private Angst, by Gwrtheyrn (Part 21): Mackenzie had not hidden a knife away, but did have a stout pair of Finnish-made scissors in an inner vest pocket. "It's weird, but it's illegal to carry most knives in the City. Scissors are fine, and guns are practically required." "Aren't we law-abiding, all of a sudden," Daria said.
  • NEW! Ring-a-Ling, by Doggieboy (Part 2): “Why didn’t you tell me about the obscene phone calls in the first place?” “Because, Daria said something wrong to me! That’s more important!”
  • NEW! Shining Star: Temporal Conundrum, by RLobinske (Part 4): A tone from his personal computer caught his attention. The readout warned of incoming X-ray and gamma radiation. The approaching pulse was massive; large enough to saturate all the facing hemisphere of the planet with enough radiation to cause moderate to severe sickness in all exposed life.
