Sláinte!

It looks like Saint Patrick’s Day is happy about being able to celebrate his day, even if he's not too satisfied with his lot in life. I think that there are worse things out there than congenital green beer-scented breath, though.

Still, as long as he keeps that smile on his face he'll be able to celebrate Act Happy Day, too. I'm sure Daria will feel no obligation to join in, however, because she doesn't even act happy when she is happy!

The episodes "College Bored," "Daria Dance Party," and "Murder, She Snored" all aired on this day in 1997, 1999, and 2000, respectively. Each of them included a party of sorts: the Middleton kegger, the school dance, and Kevin's imaginary funeral. I'll let you decide which was the happiest occasion.

Today is also Absolutely Incredible Kid Day, so let's take the opportunity to remind Daria that "we tell you over and over again that you're wonderful and you just...don't...get it! What's wrong with you?!"

Murder, She Parodied

It's crime-solving time for Daria, because it was on this day in 1984 that the TV show Murder, She Wrote first aired. Not only was the show referenced in the episode "Murder, She Snored," but it also inspired the episode's title. I don't think Jessica Fletcher ever solved a case involving a stolen test, a poisoned nutty butter sandwich, and a bow and arrow, but I haven't seen them all. Who knows?

It's Saint Patrick's Day once again, time to drink green liquids and party party party and pretend you're Irish and all that traditional stuff. We have the Holiday Island leprechaun-type St. Patrick here, and the Tiffany alter ego-type St. Patrick, so do it to it.

These two costumes, by the way, would be extremely easy to duplicate for those fans whacked out just enough to do it.

The Groundhog and the Angel

How many years has the Daria fandom been around, and we still don't have any Groundhog Day fanfiction! It's amazing. It's like it's not an important enough holiday to write a story about, and it's got groundhogs! I give up. If anyone writes one, just don't imitate the Bill Murray movie. Do something original.

This is the birthday anniversary of Farrah Fawcett, the TV and movie actress who, with her fellow Angels, changed television forever. "Murder, She Snored" even has Quinn with Farrah Fawcett's hair!

Back Again As Usual

Sorry I missed yesterday. I got back into fanfic writing and sort of let everything else drop. Let's see if I can juggle things a little better this time.

Today is the day, years and years ago, when the TV show McCloud premiered. This is important because Daria dreamed that she was McCloud in the episode, "Murder, She Snored." Yeah, that was pretty trivial, but it's my blog.

Yesterday was the 11th anniversary of the airing of the Daria Day Marathon on MTV. Good times. It was also the day (yesterday was) when the second season of Daria debuted, according to this article. That means yesterday, which I missed, was the 11th anniversary of "Arts 'N Crass." Dang. Well, happy birthday to that episode.

Getting back to today again, this is the 10th anniversary of the musical "Daria!" which has become everyone's third season favorite. Not. Well, it's still great fun finding ways to explain that episode in fanfiction. Also still think that Trike Girl is the cause of all the trouble.

This is about the time of year when "Daria's Tears" took place. Might want to check that one out.

WacoKid created a great new Iron Chef: Late for Valentines Day, or Confused Cupid. This should get some good responses.

Another teaser is out from Brother Grimace for the Legion of Lawndale Heroes series. This one is for Chapter 13.5. Enjoy.

Murder, She Snored Again

As fate would have it, today is also the 24th anniversary of the airing of the first TV episode of Murder, She Wrote, which was parodied in the third-season Daria episode, "Murder, She Snored." We see Daria at left doing the Angela Lansbury opening scene on the bike, etc., all part of a long dream she had.

I don't recall if anyone wrote a fanfic in which Daria had to solve a murder or other crime. Anyone remember anything like that?

Happy Birthday, Buddha!

In Japan, today is Buddha's Birthday, also called Hanamatsuri. The image at right is an enlarged capture of the Buddha figure that sits on a shelf behind Angela Li's desk. Is she a Buddhist? Doesn't seem likely, but one never knows. I also have an alter ego of Buddha with Upchuck's face, but (eww) that doesn't really seem appropriate, so we'll skip that. On with the Super-Update!
