Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin, better known as Charlie Chaplin, was born on this day in 1889! O'Neill is trying his best on the left, but Chaplin was way funnier. Intentionally, anyway.Today is also Emancipation Day for Washington, D.C., commemorating the day in 1862 when Abraham Lincoln signed the Compensated Emancipation Act. Signed nine months before the more famous Emancipation Proclamation, it freed 3,100 slaves in the District of Columbia. Not a bad day's work!
