Redheads and Trouble Go Together Like...

Today is the 103rd anniversary of the birth of Dale Messick, who created the comic strip and character Brenda Starr. Was the Daria of Beavis and Butt-head inspired to become an "inquiring reporter" by Brenda Starr's adventures? (The B&B episode with Daria the Reporter, "Sporting Goods," is here.)

As of this moment, I can find only one Daria fanfic that references Brenda Starr. Congratulations, BG. You win again.

More soon.

Okay, here we go:

Someone went to Horrorhound, a media convention, and complained about the lack of Daria on DVD. Interesting read.

An editorial on the "Save SFMB" movement has appeared at Fortress Cincgreen. More mental food for thought there.
  • Lambda, by SigDiff (Part 13): Outside, Jane caught a glimpse of a giant mushroom cloud rising above her. The ground shock hit an instant later, knocking her to the floor. Before she could recover the air shock reached the bunker, blasting dirt and debris past the door at hundreds of miles an hour. Inside, the bunker's window shields held, but the vacuum created by the wind threatened to suck them out of the open door. Each soldier grabbed on to anything they could find; weapon controls, computer consoles – and in one case, a foot. [Now includes Part 14, in which Daria gets very drunk.]

  • Daria Race War, by Bliss Ticks (Part 1): Ms. Li called the assembly for two pm, an hour before school let out. Daria and Jane filed into the auditorium with the rest of the Lawndale sheep, and saw both their principal and Stacy Rowe on stage along with two (apparently new) students. When everyone had settled in, Ms. Li began her announcement. [Not sure what to think about this one yet.]

Your segueway's a bit of a stretch, don't you think, TAG?

It was important to try, anyway.
