World of Crunch Lunch Nuts. Munch the nutty nutty?

Hey, everybody! It's February 26th, and you know what that means!

What do you mean, you have no idea? Come on, it's National Pistachio Day!

I'll bet Daria celebrates National Pistachio Day, because Quinn is allergic to pistachio dye and, hey, who could pass up that opportunity? However, the holiday was most likely created by Jake's nemeses, the squirrels. National Pistachio Day is an obvious ploy to increase their nut rations and allow them to stockpile for times of war against He Who Drives the Lexus of Doom.

But never mind that. Go celebrate by munching a bunch of your nutty friend's lunch. Be sure to share with Quinn, too!

As I have said before: "Squirrels are to madness drawn". Nevertheless, pass the pistachios...

I am fairly sure that squirrels exist for the sole purpose of driving my dogs insane.

We have tons in and near our back yard. (Stupid rural-ish area...) That is enough to make the dogs crazy...

Oh but it gets worse. We have 2 squirrels who talk smack to the dogs. The just sit in the tree and chatter away at the dogs, sending the dogs into absolute insanity mode.

One of the squirrels even occasionally throws acorns at the dogs. It has a good aim too. It would be damn funny if I didn't have to go through the hell of trying to get the dogs back in the house...

How come the post on squirrels and pistachios has two responses, and MY post has none? Wait, now this one has THREE! Damn it!

Comments are here because squirrels are fiendishly amusing.

My Akita mix is not wildlife friendly. In the past 10 years she has killed at least 3 racoons which got into the yard, and made hand puppets of uncounted squirrels.

That's too good NOT to go unused.

Oddly enough, the school where I am presently teaching is the first university to which I have ever been that is not infested with squirrels.

Thanks!

Wait... Are you saying it's too good to be used? No, by all means, take it out of its original packaging! I don't mind! ;)

I'm in the midwest and saw nothing but red squirrels while growing up. I think I saw my first gray squirrel in Iowa City, Iowa when I was about 40 and some black squirrels and black/red hybrids in Davenport just in the last 2 years. In the last year, I've seen black/reds in Des Moines. If the little bastards develop a space program, we're probably doomed!

OT (I know, so what else is new?), but when I saw "Des Moines," "Iowa City," and "Davenport" in your post, my first thought was, "Hey! That sums up my route home from Omaha!"

Don't see too many squirrels when you're driving along I-80 at 70 mph, though. ;)

No, no, Kristen, it isn't Des Moines, Iowa City, Davenport that truly defines I-80 through Iowa. It's: Corn, corn, corn, corn, look, a tree! Corn, corn, corn, what's that smell? Corn, corn, corn, corn, Des Moines! Corn, corn, corn, corn, there's that smell again. Corn, corn, corn, corn, Iowa City! Etc.

You can hear them, though:

I've seen squirrels in rest areas, but never along the interstate. The road kill report is mostly possum, raccoon and deer. As in whichever you hit, it's "SPLAT" 'oh dear,' or your expletive of choice.
