A Valentine's Day Special Message from Brittany

It's that time of the month again when love sprinkles its golden showers o'er us and we guys get the wrong things for our Significant Others. Brittany has a few thoughts about that.

Brittany also wants to share a romantic thought for those who have undergone a bit of stress in their relationships.

And who could forget this unforgettable moment, so appropriate for St. Valentine's Day?

Usually on holidays like this I list a lot of appropriate fanfiction to read, but instead how about YOU suggest which 'shippers are your favorite in all Daria fandom. Write down however many 'shippers you think MUST be mentioned on this day.

Not sure if I will be able to post much tomorrow, for obvious reasons. Have a nice one.

I'm rather fond of Snuff the Rooster.

(It'd be nice if it were updated more than once a year, though).

Nemo Blank's "Ring Toss," the entire John Lane series by Richard Lobinske, and "The Omega Jane" all hit the spot for me.

The entire Electronic Alchemy series.

Anyone know what happened to The Alchemist, by the way? And if there's any way we can kidnap him or her, chain him or her to a computer, and force him or her to write fanfic nonstop? Or would that be too weird?

I should have posted this link to the Romance department of Outpost Daria, sorry about that.

Decelaraptor's "Beneath a Copper Sun" always affects me when I read it. It's awesome.

And who could ever forget that unforgettable tale of first true love, "The Brain and the Beauty" by Ronin. It touches you somewhere deep inside, doesn't it?

Oh, and Angelihel's "Remember Me," that one is wonderful. Pure win to the awesome power.

As much as later events in the show left it behind, I really enjoyed Michelle Klein-Haas's Lawndale, CT Continuum when I first read it. And of course Diane Long's works really stand out from the pack.

For the Slash Fic Lovers, Rancloth's (mostly) Non-Smutty Daria Slashfic Page is a great source for romantic fics.

Of the list, my personal favorites are:

Crusading Saint's Four Play/Teenage Wasteland and You Only Hurt/The Ones You Love two parters

Deref's Writes of Passage series

Marcello's QED Trilogy (sometimes love is unrequited)

Grey Bard's Great Pretenders (silly, but very fun)

Yui Daoren's Out On Vacation

and of course, the (IMHO) best Daria/Jane shipper, TAG's Pause in the Air series. (Not really V-Day reading, unless you are willing to admit that love is fraught with angst!)

Well, duh.

I rather like Pause in the Air, but less for its shipperness and more because it's pretty much the only work in the fandom that doesn't have Erin as a useless wastrel of some sort.

How come there aren't more Erin-centric fics?

Richard uses Erin in some excellent scenes in the FiC series. I think Crusading Saint also had a story about her, post-divorce.

"Quiet Girl" by Sleepy Lotus.

You know, when I first started reading Daria Fanfiction, I thought The Brain and the Beauty was pretty good.

Granted, I think Death to Smoochy is a really good movie, so there you go.
