Meet Angie

Brittany Taylor is not the only cheerleader at Lawndale High. The second-most-often seen-or-heard-from cheerleader, the platinum-blonde Angie, first appears in "Daria Dance Party" and makes subsequent speaking appearances in "The F Word," "I Loathe a Parade," and Is It College Yet? (She cheers in one other episode, screams in another, is named in passing in two more, and has a nonspeaking role in yet another, but we won't mention those.)

Angie and Brittany say they are friends and their actions prove it, though the friendship is not so deep that Angie isn't willing to have Brittany taken off the cheerleading squad when Brittany tries to express concern over world problems as part of a class assignment. Still, Angie refuses to go out with Kevin Thompson or have anything to do with him, as he is supposed to be Brittany's steady boyfriend; thus, she does have a powerful loyalty that other characters in the series lack (*cough*daria*cough*). She tells Brittany if Kevin displays any sign of straying, and will even break bad news to her friend in a "tough love" sort of way if, for example, Brittany's date plainly dances like a big geek and is making Brittany look bad. It is notable that even if Brittany suspects Kevin is secretly dating Angie behind her back, she blames Kevin, not Angie, for the trouble.

Angie was elected Football Sweetheart for the LHS homecoming parade in her junior year, so she must be quite popular. She has no discernible boyfriend in the series and had no visible date at the dance in "Daria Dance Party." No hobbies or interests other than cheerleading are evident. She is accepted into Great Prairie State university in her senior year of high school, along with several other cheerleaders including Brittany, heading off into the sunset with the rest of the cast. One suspects that Angie is not very bright (smarter than Brittany, maybe, but that's not saying much). She does well enough despite that.

Though Angie appears in quite a number of fanfics in minor roles, she has never had a starring role that I am aware of. Much of her life is a blank slate. What was her family like? What does she like to do for fun? What kind of career does she hope for after college? What kind of personality does she have? Did she have a steady b-f in high school or later?

We need answers to these burning issues. Fanfic writers, take it away!
