Tribute to a King

Also, I meant to say that according to some mythologies today marks the 54th anniversary of the birth of rock-and-roll music, when Elvis Presley recorded "That's All Right (Mama)" in the studio. (The record was not released until September.) Other songs have been benchmarked as rock-and-roll's birth cries, so the topic is a contentious one. Because I have a picture of Trent as Elvis, I'll go with that and not Bill Haley's "Rock Around the Clock." You may argue the choice in "Comments" if you wish. Or, you know, not.

This date is important to Daria because Daria was loaded with rock soundtracks . . . which, because of copyright issues, is the main reason why the show hasn't yet been released on DVD.

Kind of ironic or something, I guess.

  • Falling Into College 63: Broken Star, by Richard Lobinske (Part 6): "Trust me on this. I know what I’m doing." [Uh-oh. Continues to be an excellent chapter.]
  • Holding Out for a Hero, by NightGoblyn (COMPLETE!): A songfic sequel to "Common People," with the potential for much angsty goodness to come.
  • Misjudgments, by NightGoblyn (Part 1): A new entry in the evil Jane thread. This looks quite realistic to me. Damn nice work, but how is it that Jane knows about the future? MOAR!

Everybody knows that rock-and-roll was born on November 5, 1955, when Marty McFly played Johnny Be Good at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance.

Elvis was still first.

"....Elvis is in everybody out there.
Everybody's got Elvis in them!
Everybody except one person that is...
Yeah, one person!
The evil opposite of Elvis.
The Anti-Elvis

Anti-Elvis got no Elvis in 'em,
lemme tell ya.

Michael J. Fox has no Elvis in him.

And Elvis is in Joan Rivers
but he's trying to get out, man!
He's trying to get out!
Listen up Joanie Baby!

Elvis is everywhere

Elvis is everybody
Elvis is still the king..."
