Ready for Takeoff!

Let's wish Quinn lots of luck in recreating Amelia Earhart's first trans-Atlantic flight by a woman, which set off on this day in 1928. She'll need that luck, too: never mind what the wind will do to her hair; what was she thinking with those pants?

Today is also Eat Your Vegetables Day, and if you've run out then check with Brittany and Kevin. They may have some leftovers from the Food in Film Festival!

I Mean, We Already Knew She Was an Airhead

Brittany has found an unusual way to celebrate Global Wind Day, and I'm not even going to mention the suspicious window placement in that image. No, not me. I'm way too classy for that!

If wind power isn't your thing, then how about Smile Power Day? Not you, Daria. That thing is freaking terrifying.

Fanfic Update!
  • Burned Out, by Wrabbit7 (part 22): "Daria ran a hand through her hair and sighed as she regarded the mess of lyrics on the notebook paper. She started to crumple up the paper, but remembered that she wasn't at home, and stopped herself."

  • Danny Morgendorffer, by ST91 (part 44): "This was the third weekend since the Morgendorffer family had moved to Lawndale. However, it was the first in which Daniel did not have to help his father fix the house, or prevent his mother and grandmother from killing each other."

  • Is It Show Time Yet?, by Lady Evil (part 6 and 7): "Jane went towards the auditorium after school. Daria told her Clarissa had something to tell her and that one Dr. Becky would also be there." (Part 7)

Hope They Have Pizza Delivery on Speed Dial!

Jake's clearly pleased about National Kitchen Klutzes of America Day, but I don't think anyone else in the house will be. Especially when they find out how many peppers he added to the recipe. Be sure to turn off all the smoke alarms before embarking on this holiday, okay?

Note to Dragonball Fans: This Holiday Does Not Involve Energy Attacks

Stacy's getting in touch with her inner Hawaiian for King Kamehameha I Day! She looks so content and relaxed and completely unaware that she's committing about half a dozen fashion faux pas!

Today is also the anniversary of the episode "Prize Fighters" in 2001. No one does the hula in that one, but there is a massive hot dog eating contest so don't try to tell me it's not a party!

Fanfic Update!
  • Danny Morgendorffer, by ST91 (part 43): "'Now kids remember, your father and I haven't seen Doug and Susan in a long time and we'd like to make a good impression.'"

  • Edicius, by elainefr (part 29): "'I’ll be back for dinner,' Daria said on her way out the door. 'Another date?' her mother queried with a look over the paper that she’d been reading while sitting with her husband in the front room."

  • The Engineer and the Time Lady, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 6): "Having listened to the logs relating to what happened at Tanarexa IV, Nina pondered what had happened there. Something, or someone, was responsible for that anomaly."

Whoa!

Helen and Jake are having their own celebration for Secretariat, who won the Triple Crown on this day in 1973. Or at least so I'd like to assume. Please don't offer any alternative theories.

This is also the anniversary of the episode "Pinch Sitter" in 1997. There were a lot of fun moments from that one, but I'll just leave you with this part: "I am cool and that is it, and everyone else is full of, full of, full of--"

"Ding-a-ling-a-ling-a-ling? A-ling?"

Mack is clearly in no mood to celebrate National Chocolate Ice Cream Day, and it's no wonder: that's clearly a scoop of strawberry ice cream on his head. Better luck next time, Mack!

Today is also VCR Day, so maybe Jake could pull out those home movies again! On second thought, maybe that's not such a great idea. Jake, just have some chocolate ice cream and try not to think about your childhood, okay?

Fanfic Update!
  • Cheap Beer (Scenes No Daria fanfic should have: The Closing Walls of Schloss Morgendorffer and Casa Lane), by Shiva (COMPLETE!): "She took a swig of the cheap beer. It tasted like horse piss. But she liked it anyway, because it was forbidden fruit."

  • Danny Morgendorffer, by ST91 (part 42): "The next day things went normally ... at least at the beginning."

  • Is It Show Time Yet?, by Lady Evil (parts 4 and 5): "'It wasn’t your fault.' said Trent as he drove Jane to school. 'I made those cookies.' Jane sighed. 'I handed them out. The show is not going to go on. We’ll have to refund the money and the clubs will be done for.'" (Part 5)

More Proof That Kevin is Full of Hot Air

Kevin and Brittany are going on a little trip for Hot Air Balloon Day, but with their skills I suspect it will turn into a very long trip. Too bad they didn't have Arno the Danish balloonist around to help them, but he's probably still trying to be the first person to solo around the world twice. Good luck to him on that.

Today is also National Doughnut Day, so let me just give my best wishes to all of you twisted little crullers out there.

Brittany is going to pieces over National Egg Day, and I don't think all of Kevvy's horses and all of Kevvy's men will be able to put this cheerleader together again. I guess this is what happens when you put someone fragile at the top of the pyramid!

Today is also Repeat Day, so go on and brush off your echolalia skills! Today is also Repeat Day, so go on and brush off your echolalia skills!

  • Erin Chambers, by OzFerret (part 40): "Erin woke with a start. She felt around in the bed. Brian was not there. Oh God. Have I slept in? Is he up early?"

  • Is It Show Time Yet?, by Lady Evil (part 3): "Jane rushed into Nurse Chase’s office. 'Nurse Chase? I don’t know how this happened, but everyone in the auditorium has been poisoned! I was just handing out cookies and everyone started passing out or throwing up....'"

  • Sitting at Home (Iron Chef: QUARANTINE!), by JPAGC (part 3): "Daria opened the door to her office. Both her children were still sitting down, but while her daughter was sitting straight, and looked at her mother with a almost expressionless face, her son was slumped in his chair, looking down. The computer screen was black."

  • Spin the Bottle, by Meester_Lee (part 3): "Daria awoke later than usual and paid for it with a cold shower; her parents and the Fashionistas having used up all the hot water. She dried off, got dressed and went downstairs."

And For His Next Stunt....

It looks like Mack is going all-in for Dare Day, and I'm a little curious about who dared him to do this stunt. Kevin seems like a likely candidate, but since when does Mack listen to anything Kevin says? No, my money is on Jodie. If he accepts her dare, she'll accept his dare to...ask her parents for an hour of free time.

For those who aren't so daring, today is also World Milk Day! Jake's probably going to celebrate, because of milk's calming properties. Calming right up until he remembers that milk has cholesterol, that is.

Four Score and Seven Goths Ago

Andrea may have a stony expression on her face right now, but only because she's made of actual stone in honor of the anniversary of the Lincoln Memorial, which was dedicated on this day in 1922. While the memorial is pretty impressive, the personification of Lincoln's birthday is not. I mean, what could the guy possibly have against sandals?

Today is also the anniversary of the day that Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431. Interestingly, she was executed not for heresy or for helping Jane with an art project, but for dressing in men's clothing. I feel like the Fashion Club would have been okay with the verdict.

Fanfic Update!
  • Blocked (Iron Chef: Change the Location), by sarcasticsponge (COMPLETE!): "'Now girls I understand moving to a new location is going to take some time for you to adjust to your new school' Jake Morgendorffer said to his daughters while driving them to their new school."

  • Danny Morgendorffer, by ST91 (part 41): "That evening a pleasant atmosphere hovered over the Morgendorffer house. Helen and especially Jake were in a good mood. This is because things were starting to go well in their new jobs."

  • Daria: In Another World?, by starwater09 (part 7): "Change. Change is a factor in life that was always happening, everyday no matter how big or small there was change. Whether it be a new day, a new week or a new month, change was something that is always right around the corner."

  • Erin Chambers, by OzFerret (part 39): "Erin was surprised how late it was as she hurried her way through the Friday night crowd. She wondered about food and if the girls would have already eaten and if The Blind Canary had food anyway."

  • Esteem of the Cynic Chick (Iron Chef : Internet Friends), by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (parts 1 and 2): "‘I have low esteem for everyone else,’ Daria thought as she entered the sanctuary that was her room, repeating what she had told her family down in the kitchen. She went to her computer and opened her email." (Part 2)

  • Is It Show Time Yet?, by Lady Evil (part 2): "Daria sat in the school cafeteria going over Quinn’s letter again. She still wasn’t sure she wanted to share this with her family."

  • Kevin, by elainefr (COMPLETE!): "'Why so glum chum?' 'It’s not right.' 'It’ll blow over-'"

  • Red Letters, by Anonymous (COMPLETE!): "Brittany Taylor was the last person Daria had expected to see at the Scarlet Magazine offices. Well, aside from Kevin."

  • Unnamed story (Iron Chef : Internet Friends), by Roentgen (part 1): "Mack loved being Batman. And he was Batman. On Twitter, anyway."

How Did She Keep Her Figure After Eight Babies?

Tiffany is not enjoying her stint as mother to what appears to be octuplets, because she's not going to settle for less than the Dionne quintuplets who were born in this day in 1934. She is clearly regretting this decision, and not just because those kids are cutting into her makeup time.

Today is also National Hamburger Day, so you can choose to either eat one or follow Daria's example by sticking it in your boots because you love the squishy, squishy feeling around your toes. Personally, I'd rather eat mine, but you do you.

Finally, today is the anniversary of the episode "Life in the Past Lane," which aired on this day in 2001. The bad news is we met Nathan, one of the worst assholes of the show. The good news is we got to see Stacy Victorious, which is a pretty rare thing.

Dance, Pilgrim!

Jane is doing an interpretive dance to celebrate the anniversary of dancer Isadora Duncan's birth on this day in 1877. I don't know if dance is one of the artistic pursuits that Jane's interested in, but I do know that outfit isn't going to fly with Ms. Li's dress code policy.

Today is also the anniversary of John Wayne's birth in 1907. Jake will probably be excited about that, given his John Wayne collectable coin collection. It's nearly complete, except for the one that slipped down the sink drain without any provocation.

Fanfic Update!
  • Danny Morgendorffer, by ST91 (part 40): "'A viper ?!' Daniel asked. 'Yes. Look, it's a long story, I promise I'll fill you in later but can we go now? Emma is the nicest of the girls but she hates latecomers.' Jodie said."

  • Daria of the Milieu: Chasing Wormtrails, by Meester_Lee (COMPLETE!): "The woman’s name was Jillian Ostmann and, just as Daria had suspected, she had been part of the Protectorate, although part of their support staff instead of either being a Cape or a trooper for the PRT."

  • Edicius, by elainefr (part 28): "'Hello,' Jane spoke into the phone. 'Jane?' Tom’s slightly nervous voice made Jane straighten. 'The one and only.' Her voice betrayed none of her own jitters that she was suddenly feeling."

  • Is It Show Time Yet?, by Lady Evil (part ): "'OK, kids,' Jane said to the art club. 'I think all we can do for this now is to let it dry. We’ll start painting the woodland scene tomorrow. Go clean yourselves up and wait for your parents. I’ll pick up around here.'"

  • sibling convergence (Iron Chef: Unemployed Daria, streamer Quinn), by sarcasticsponge (part 1): "'And that my dears is how you properly apply lip-balm. God Save the...Queen?

I have no idea whose idea it was to make an alter ego of Jake as Queen Victoria, but even Jake seems unhappy about it. In fact, you might say that he is...not amused? Anyway, the long-reigning Queen of England was born on this day in 1819 and assumed the throne at the age of 18.

I can just hear Jodie's parents complaining about their daughter's comparative lack of ambition.

Today is also National Escargot Day, so better put an order in at Chez Pierre now to beat the rush. Unless you want, you know, quality food. Then you should probably go somewhere else.

Looks like Jodie is going to need a new guitar, which is perfect because today is Buy a Musical Instrument Day! You know, Jake still owes Daria a new flute after he backed over the old one. One must, however, question how the flute got to the driveway in the first place....

Today is also World Goth Day. Do you know how Andrea will be celebrating? Ha, trick question: goths don't celebrate phony holidays. Gotcha!

Finally it was on this day in 2007 that the Daria fansite Lawndale Online was started. Sadly, the site is no longer functional, but it had a good run in the meantime.

Fanfic Update!
  • Boxing Helen...Ah...., by Lady Evil (part 6): "Vixx almost envied Sandi. She got to wear a flowy turquoise gown while she was strapped in a mauve, jewel toned cocktail dress and pinching heels."

  • Burned Out, by Wrabbit7 (part 21): "When asked to point to some advantage in being born of the fairer sex, few students in Lawndale High would not immediately point towards Ms. Barch."

  • Erin Chambers, by OzFerret (part 38): "Erin entered the doors of Boston Products, perhaps for the last time. Her head held high and her shoulders square she immediately encountered Alice Wintergrove. The older woman stepped towards Erin even as Erin tried to avoid her."

Today is also Be a Millionaire Day, and I would love to celebrate this one. Sooooo...who's going to send me a million dollars?

Daria would love to swing by the Museum of Medical Oddities for International Museum Day, but I assume that it, like most museums right now, is closed. She'll just have to live vicariously through her memories of the sliced man and the salivary gland tumor.

Today is also Visit Your Relatives Day, which I think Helen will happily skip. Because of the quarantine, of course! Yes, that's it! (Whew!)

Fanfic Update!
  • The Balmora Beat, by welltemperedclavier (COMPLETE!): "It all came down to the uniform. They'd drilled that fact into Maiko's head back when he'd been a raw recruit: anything you did for the Legion had to be in Legion colors."

  • Boxing Helen...Ah...., by Lady Evil (part 5): "'The things I do for love.' Vixx groaned, looking at her reflection. 'I think you look lovely.' Ollie said, lounging on the bed."

  • Daria of Morsang-sur-Orge, by Rémi (part 27): "Watching the tournament wasn’t a very interesting experience for Daria : her poor eyesight only let her distinguish a meaningless confusion. However, Quentine diligently commented the event to her, so at least she was able to understand what was happening."

  • Daria Ravenclaw: The Year of the Owl, by Meester_Lee (part 32): "September eased into October. The effects were more noticeable: unlike Daria’s part of Texas, the change from summer into autumn was no masquerade: the weather was definitely cooler. So this is what a real autumn is like, she thought."

  • Heathers, by welltemperedclavier (COMPLETE!): "'What a splendid bunch.' Synda Grilvayn kept her eyes downcast as Serjo Nevena Ules glided past her and the other Dunmer girls."

  • White, White, everywhere (Iron Chef: Change the Location), by JPAGC (part 1): "Among the stillness of the never-ending snow, the sleight run smoothly over the almost empty plane. The quick breathing and barking of the sleigh dogs pulling the vehicle was the only sound."

Mr. DeMartino is doing a stellar impression of Liberace, the piano player born on this day in 1919. I don't know how Mr. D expects to be able to live such a lavish lifestyle on a teacher's salary, but at least he seems happy.

Fanfic Update!
  • Backseat for No One, by EntrancedCat (part 3): "Daria Morgendorffer gave up trying to decide which was worse: having to sit through a full Lawndale High football game or being forced to help clean up afterwards as part of Ms. Li's latest glory-to-Lawndale-High scheme."

  • Boxing Helen...Ah...., by Lady Evil (parts 3 and 4): "'Grandma,' Tom said. 'I would like to introduce my fiancée, Alexandra Griffin. She goes by Sandi for short. Sandi, this is my grandmother, Evelyn Sloane.'" (Part 4)

  • Burned Out, by Wrabbit7 (part 20): "Sitting on her bed and strumming her six-string, Jennifer nodded along to Daria's retelling of the day's events. 'So, he said my photos were reminiscent of Fancisco Goya, and I had to pretend I knew what he was talking about.'"

  • The Engineer and the Time Lady, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 5): "'Commander's log. Stardate 60835.3. The Baffin is approaching the Tanarexa system, where we shall follow up on earlier surveys.'"

  • A wish granted, by sarcasticsponge (part 3): "The golden doors slowly opens all the way as Daria makes her way through them and observes the room before her."

  • The Worst Years of Our Lives, by welltemperedclavier (COMPLETE!): "Daria didn't think that the Nordic couple lounging outside of the Morgendorffer home looked like the kinds of clients mom usually got. Or dad either, for that matter."

An Important Date...I Assume?

Today is May 12th, which sharp-eyed Daria fans will recognize as the date that the Morgendorffer calendar always seems to be turned to for some reason. I'm guessing it was one of the animators' birthdays or something. Unless the cast of the show was secretly living in some kind of Groundhog Day-type time loop? You never know.

Helen's taking a stroll down cliche road for Mother's Day, but I guess it's good that she's spending the day at home. Hopefully Jake will remember what day it is, Quinn will hand her a card on her way out for a date, and Daria will poke her head out of her room long enough to wish her well. After all, in addition to being a mother Helen also has to brace herself and call her own mother, and I don't wish that horror on anyone.

I'm sure Helen is hoping that the rest of the family will help her out by celebrating Clean up Your Room Day, which means Daria might finally have to do battle with the dust bunnies under her bed.

Fanfic Update!
  • Boxing Helen...Ah...., by Lady Evil (parts 1 and 2): "It was morning and Helen was on the phone while two workmen from Karl's Kitchens were putting in a new refrigerator." (Part 2)

  • Danny Morgendorffer, by ST91 (part 40): "Daniel woke up happy that Wednesday. In the afternoon, he would take part in his first weekly school newspaper meeting."

  • Daria of Morsang-sur-Orge, by Rémi (parts 25 and 26): "The gardens of the Palace weren’t very different from those of other powerful lords : it was only bigger. Like most other lordly gardens, it was both beautiful and useful : medicinal herbs grew apart from the flower beds." (Part 26)

  • Daria of the Milieu: Chasing Wormtrails, by Meester_Lee (part 3): "OK, they’ve got it, Daria said to herself. She felt a flash of resentment at Reverend Allworthy for scooping the Oakleys out from under her."

Unknown magic powers or animating mistake? You make the call!

This is also International No Diet Day, so tell the Fashion Club to have an extra helping of the no-salt, no-oil, fat-free popcorn. Daria and Jane...will alter none of their current eating habits.

  • Backseat for No One, by EntrancedCat (part 1): "'Oh Brittany,' Angie enthused as the two between-classes Lawndale High cheerleaders transferred books from locker to backpack and backpack to locker. 'That new kitty-cat backpack Kevin got you is so, so adorable.'"

  • Danny Morgendorffer, by ST91 (part 38): "Once the lessons were over, Daniel made his way to the school exit. As always, his sister was there waiting for him. Yet strangely, an angry expression was on her face."

May the Fire be With You

Trent's on duty for International Firefighters Day, but I wouldn't count on him to put out many fires. Even if he stayed awake long enough to help, he'd probably get distracted trying to think of a good rhyme for "flame." Then again, he may have gotten some practice at home. After all, that "not building a fire in the rooms that don't have fireplaces" rule must have come from somewhere. On another note, am I the only one who sees a resemblance between Trent and this cake?

I don't think Quinn's youngest child is enjoying Baby Day, but don't tell me you'd feel any differently if you had to put up with Jake as a grandfather. I'm sure this is one of Sandi's favorite holidays, though, considering how (inexplicably) fond she seems to be of babies: "They're so cute when they smile at you. 'Hello, precious!'"

It was also on this day in 1863 that Stonewall Jackson was shot by his own men. Supposedly it was by accident, but we can't rule out the possibility that johnnycakes were involved.

It was also on this day in 1803 that Thomas Jefferson signed the Louisiana Purchase. This nearly doubled the size of the country and was a big factor in the doctrine of Manifest Destiny. • Daria: Spin the Bottle, by Meester_Lee (part 1): "Daria looked at the novel she was reading and scowled. It was a Nineteenth-Century classic that she’d probably have thrown at her in some future college-level English Literature class."

  • Daria: Winter Is Coming, by Meester_Lee (part 16): "Daria was not a morning person, and when she finally rose, she not only saw that there weren’t any clean and dry towels left in the upstairs bathroom, but that there wasn’t much hot water left, either."

  • Raw Deal (The 1002 Deaths of Tom Sloane), by Lady Evil (COMPLETE!): "'Hey, Butt-Head!' said Beavis. 'I'm glad we quit our jobs at Burger World!'"

  • Worth the Trip, by Zetor (part 3): "Daria eyed her niece with a measure of respect as the girl wolfed down chili fries at what a more responsible adult might consider an unhealthy pace."

Kant Keep His Eyes Open

Poor Tom just doesn't find Immanuel Kant, born on this day in 1724, to be very exciting reading. Of course, everyone knows that "Critique of the Power of Judgment" is the real page-turner.

I would wish Marianne a happy Administrative Professionals Day, but she's far too busy to stop and listen. I'm sure Helen will ask her to send herself a nice flower arrangement, though.

Cough, Cough!

I think it goes without saying that Trent is aware that today is 4/20. Don't try to tell me that his cough is hay fever. Although, come to think of it, I hope that cough isn't anything else, either!

Today is also Volunteer Recognition Day, so let's take a minute to thank all of those people who give their time to help others. Even if Ms. Li isn't forcing them to do it.

Fanfic Update!
  • Danny Morgendorffer, by ST91 (part 36): "'Well, this was surely an intense school council's meeting. I didn't expect it to be so crowded. ' Daniel said when, after almost two hours, he and Jodie left the classroom."

  • Daria: Winter Is Coming, by Meester_Lee (part 15): "Daria spent the early afternoon in the living room, despite her strong desire to retreat upstairs."

  • Erin Chambers, by OzFerret (part 37): "Erin realised she had been asleep when a bump woke her."

  • Lucky, it's Past, by Lady Evil (part 5): "Daria looked around at the interior of Phineas T. Firefly, the restaurant Trent had brought her to."

  • Silver Linings (Iron Chef: QUARANTINE!), by EntrancedCat (COMPLETE!): "Daria slowly panned the web camera over her tools before bringing the focus back to her face. Tom smiled at her over the marvel which was the internet."

  • Sitting at Home (Iron Chef: QUARANTINE!), by JPAGC (part 2): "'Hello, Dad?' 'Hey, Kiddo!' Jake Morgendorffer's voice came loud and cheerful through the phone. 'How are you?'"

  • Unnamed story (The 1002 Deaths of Tom Sloane), by Lady Evil (part 2): "'...Fifty-two bottles of blue milk on da wall!' it continued to sing. 'Fifty-two bottles of blue milk!'"

Setting a New Record

Daria and Jane would be enjoying Record Store Day an awful lot more if Upchuck wasn't participating. They'd probably be happier if he at least took his hand out of his pocket.

This also happens to be Newspaper Columnists Day, so take your pick between Future Daria's "preaching to the converted" column of outrage or the Ask Brittany advice column. Decisions, decisions.

The (Not-So) Great Educator

Mr. O'Neill's hoping that if he dresses as Charlie Chaplin on the comedian's birthday, then maybe it will feel like his students are laughing with him, not at him. (Spoiler alert: they're not laughing with him.)

Today is also National Stress Awareness Day, so be sure to tell Jake that you're aware of his stress. "Stressed? Why do people keep telling me I'm stressed? If I weren't stressed, I'd get stressed by everyone telling me I'm stressed!"

Fanfic Update!
  • Daria of Morsang-sur-Orge, by Rémi (part 13): "Roland took seriously his promise of helping Daria to study, as he apparently took seriously any duty he accepted. In fact, « serious » and « dutiful » were the two words coming to Daria’s mind when she thought about the paladin."

  • Farewell, by browneyedbagel (COMPLETE!): "'I’ve been told that art is subjective. You can hang a painting on a wall for fifty people to look at, and it’s very reasonable to assume that there will be fifty different points of view about the significance of the art.'"

  • Unnamed story (The 1002 Deaths of Tom Sloane), by Lady Evil (part 1): "Tom Sloane woke to a feeling of blood rushing to his head. 'Where am I?' he groaned."

She's Probably a Lot Smarter Now

Brittany has traded in her pom-poms for flippers in honor of National Dolphin Day, but I notice she kept the ponytails. Kevin's in for a big surprise on their next date.

Today is also Ex Spouse Day, but don't tell Ms. Barch. Unless you want to hear a long rant about lazy good-for-nothing layabouts.

Finally, today is the anniversary of both "The Lab Brat" in 1997 and "Of Human Bonding" in 2000. Speaking of bonding, I still wish there were more scenes in the show of Jake and Kevin together. That's a friendship that should have been explored!

Have an Eggs-celent Easter!

Joey's just making a big batch of Easter eggs for everyone, but I think I'll pass. I'll gladly accept any chocolate bunnies you have to offer, though!

Today is also Big Wind Day, but unfortunately Wind Lane only qualifies as a medium-sized Wind at best. However, the big, wet rainstorm would certainly count.

Fanfic Update!
  • Betrayal (The 1002 Deaths of Tom Sloane), by Vukodlak (COMPLETE!): "Sir Kevin Thomson and Her Ladyship Jodie Landon dragged a barely conscious Thomas Angier Sloane into the great hall where he was roughly thrown to the ground before his wife Princess Daria Morgandorffer Sloane."

  • College Disorientation, by Kristen Bealer (COMPLETE!): "'Okay, this is an informational sheet Push Comes to Love sends around to 600 leading colleges. It's called "My Personal Goals and Aspirations,"' the instructor told the college prep class."

  • Daria of Morsang-sur-Orge, by Rémi (parts 9 - 12): "A week before Pentecost, Jacques of Morsang-sur-Orge was seen journeying on the road toward Aachen, with his company of servants, squires and knights." (Part 10) (Part 11) (Part 12)

  • Daria Ravenclaw: The Year of the Owl, by Meester_Lee (part 31): "Gradually, life at Hogwarts began to acquire a rhythm. Herbology on Monday followed by electives and study hall, Charms and Transfiguration on Tuesday, Defense Against the Dark Arts on Wednesday followed by flying lessons in the afternoon, and the dreaded Potions class on Thursdays."

  • The Definition of Mercy (The 1002 Deaths of Tom Sloane), by YouthofOz (COMPLETE!): "Sweat runs down his face. The air is running out. Or rather, the breathable air is running out."

  • Edicius, by elainefr (part 27): "'Hey.' 'Hey.' They smiled at each other. He held out a small bouquet of flowers to her. She registered clear surprise and took them."

  • Lucky, it's Past, by Lady Evil (parts 3 and 4): "'OK, all you rockin’ rugrats!' Vixx Vinyl said into the microphone." (Part 4)

  • Midwife Crisis (Life After Thirty), by WildDogJJ (COMPLETE!): "Quinn had just been run over by an 18-wheel tractor trailer. She'd seen it coming but, rather than get to safety herself, she shoved Jim out of the trucks way." (Part 4) (Part 5)

Fore!

Jake's not going to let a little darkness or a wedding-related family crisis get in the way of his game on Golfer's Day! Jodie might join him, too, but not voluntarily. (Does she do anything voluntarily?)

Today is also National Siblings Day, so this would be a good day to call your sibling-if you have one--and gloat about that Hawaiian vacation or argue about which one was Mother's favorite. Yes, Quinn, "cousins" count as well.

Who's Going to Draw Chiquito?

Jane is clearly enjoying Draw a Picture of a Bird Day, which is about the most specific holiday I've ever seen. There's no way I can do nearly as good a job as she did, but I suppose I'll give it a try. It'll look like a bird if you tilt your head and squint and have never seen an actual bird before!

Fanfic Update!
  • Daria: In Another World?, by starwater09 (part 6): "Daria was currently walking through the Lawndale Mall with Jane who was in search of some much needed clay for an art contest that would be taking place a few months later when she noticed Brittany Taylor walking out of 'Gimme Some Skin' with none other than Robert Johnson."

  • Daria of Morsang-sur-Orge, by Rémi (parts 5 - 8): "Quentine was finishing to compose a bouquet of flowers for their mother, when three young men, mounted on beautiful palfreys, came riding by." (Part 6) (Part 7) (Part 8)

  • Daria Ravenclaw: The Year of the Owl, by Meester_Lee (part 30): "Daria’s thought upon awakening on her second Sunday at Hogwarts was that it looked to be a repeat of the day before, howbeit with a chance of rain and probably without a picnic. She didn’t have classes, she did have schoolwork, and she wanted to catch up on her reading."

  • It's Only A Pandemic!, by DIsaac (part 4): "(Chipmunk is in the office when she gets an email from Corporate!) CHIPMUNK: Jodie, Come quick. We have an email on high."

  • Lawndales future elite, by rvgonzal (part 6): "Monique glared at Trent and then choked out 'Yea, continue...' 'I think we'd better start again. Trent, repeat after me. I, Trent...' continued the minister."

  • Lucky, it's Past, by Lady Evil (part 2): "'I wonder what they put in these school hamburgers.' Jane mused at lunch. 'Whoever lost the Kentucky Derby, probably.' Daria guessed."

  • Midwife Crisis (Life After Thirty), by WildDogJJ (parts 1 and 2): "Quinn was in the home office talking on the phone. 'What do you mean you can't watch the kids!? We've been planning this for weeks!'" (Part 2)

  • Necessities, by EntrancedCat (part 2): "Quinn held Jim’s arm as they emerged from PayDay to keep him from overly exalting about snatching the last two-thousand count box of sanitizing wipes and the last twelve-hundred count jug of vitamin C gummies."

At Least He Isn't Playing Bagpipes

Mr. O'Neill is prepared for Tartan Day, but there are at least three things wrong with this image.

1. "O'Neill" is an Irish name, not Scottish
2. There's no way Mr. O'Neill could lift that claymore, let alone wield it
3. WHY THE HELL IS HE NOT WEARING A SHIRT?!

Ahem. To all Scottish (or Scottish-descended) fans, wear those plaids with pride!

Squeak!

Everyone make sure your rats are well-medicated for World Rat Day! If not, they might not be able to solve the maze Daria and Kevin (ha!) worked so hard on.

Today is also Tell a Lie Day, so here's a doozy for you: Daria and Trent make the perfect couple and belong together forever!

Ugh. Now I just feel dirty. The bad kind of dirty.

Fanfic Update!
  • Burned Out, by Wrabbit7 (part 19): "Standing in line to the locally owned, Playhouse 99 movie theater, Jennifer stared at Daria in shock. 'Let me get this straight, he wanted you to watch her spawning?'"

  • Daria of Morsang-sur-Orge, by Rémi (parts 2 - 4): "The sisters were greated in the dungeon hall by their family. Their two brothers, Hugues and Arnaud, were already sitted at table and eating their breakfast with an hearty appetite. Hugues had an amused smile on his lips." (Part 3) (Part 4)

  • It's Only A Pandemic!, by DIsaac (part 3): "(Kevin is doing what he does every night, watching all the games he can while he works his show. He is reading about The Blue Jackets being the first team to play without fans after The Governor there banned crowds of less than 100 people. Also that same day The NCAA announced that the March Madness Men's and Women's Tournament would be played without fans. That was going to be the topic until...)"

  • Lucky, it's Past, by Lady Evil (part 1): "Life would change forever for Ms. Li that Monday afternoon."

  • Seriously!? (Iron Chef: QUARANTINE!), by Vukodlak (part 1): "The anticipation was now over it had been announced that starting Monday, Lawndale would be on lockdown. So where ever you wanted to shelter-in-place you were to be there by then."

Don't Let Those Peanuts Hijack Your Brain!

Okay, I do not recommend that Daria and Jane proceed with their planned celebration of National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day! Nothing good will result, I promise.

However, they should go right ahead and observe International Children's Book Day, especially if Daria still has her copy of Black Beauty. Jane might enjoy looking at (and critiquing) the illustrations instead.

Speaking of artwork, the episode "Art Burn" aired on this day in 2001. Jane experienced a major case of burnout, Trent had to suffer the trial of (ugh) real work, and Brittany never did find out what happened to that three-legged elephant.
