The Fashion Club Doesn't Even Recycle Outfits

I really hope the Fashion Club isn't just throwing out their rejected newsletters because it's America Recycles Day and they should do their best to keep things out of landfills. At the very least, they could hold onto them until their bad advice comes back into style, and then recycle the newsletters as timely suggestions!

If you have anything you want to get rid of that's still in good condition, please consider donating it in honor of National Philanthropy Day. Yes, belly chains and go-go boots count, if you must.

I'm sure Daria would be happy to donate her old Camp Grizzly shirt, even though it's National Camp T-Shirt Day and this would be a great opportunity to break out that awesome chant: Go, Grizzlies! Go, Grizzlies! Go...away.

Fanfic Update!
  • Crappy Thanksgiving, by wilddogjj (part 1): "Jim, Chuck (formerly Upchuck) and Chris (Jim's brother) were in Jim's man cave. The reason they weren't outside hanging out with Kevin on his porch is because the weather's bad, with dark gray skies and heavy rain."

  • Crushing Timmy, by wilddogjj (COMPLETE!): "Timmy and Kayla were walking home from the mall. Timmy carried Kayla's shopping bags as they approached his house." (Part 3)

  • Her Last Words, by Sheila Wisz Ellayn (part 75): "At first Anna Felicia had been so confident about what would happen that night, and yet now that she was facing the bloody thing for real, she was not so sure about Lockie's psychological strategy anymore."

  • Spider Quinn 03: Comes Great Responsibility, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 1): "After running some distance into fog, Quinn took to the rooftops and trees, and swung aimlessly around Lawndale."

But Don't Recycle Your Fashions!

I see Stacy and Sandi are celebrating America Recycles Day...or at least Stacy is. America might recycle, but Sandi is clearly a conscientious objector.

Today is also Clean Your Refrigerator Day, so might as well toss any old food while you're already getting your hands dirty. Don't worry about that red stuff...it's probably just cranberry juice. Probably.

Things Went Downhill After the Fashion Club Broke Up

Either Sandi is getting surprisingly into America Recycles Day or she's just lost her damn mind entirely. Then again, I suppose there's no reason it can't be both. I'm sure Quinn will be happy to see that she's not the only one who's been caught wearing--or wielding--a Hefty bag!

If you really get the urge to do some cleaning up today, try going through the fridge for Clean Your Refrigerator Day. Look out for that red stuff, though. I have serious doubts that it's cranberry juice.

If You Just Buy a New Fridge Entirely, Recycle the Box!

Jake's observing Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day with gusto, unless he's just looking for more cheese to use against those dastardly squirrels. If you find anything in your fridge that's green and shouldn't be, today's the day to get rid of it.

Speaking of green, make sure you don't just throw away anything in your refrigerator that could be recycled. It's America Recycles Day, which I guess means that people in other countries can chuck stuff into landfills willy-nilly.

You Could Even Recycle Your Fridge!

The Fashion Club is working hard for America Recycles Day, or rather Stacy is working and Sandi is supervising. Be sure to recycle today, and I don't just mean wearing the same outfit more than once!

While you're at it, you might want to take a look at your fridge for Clean Your Refrigerator Day, too. Try not to think too much about what that red stuff might be.

Like, Save the Planet. Or Whatever.

It's America Recycles Day, and Sandi reminds everyone that mixing plastic and glass recycling is a definite fashion "don't." Although whose jacket makes them look like a Hefty bag now?

While you're throwing things out, keep in mind that this is also Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day! What's that red stuff? Cranberry juice? Cherry soda? Do we even want to know?

When Recycling Fashions Isn't Enough

Sandi Griffin is oh-so-not pleased to present us with America Recycles Day. We must view her at a distance for she will smash us with that garbage can lid if we get too close. And can you believe it, I found not one, not two, but three Daria fanfics in which recycling is a major topic! Miracles never cease.

The magnificent Guy "Decelaraptor" Payne was born this day 54 years ago. He passed away last March, but he will long be remembered in our fandom for his touching and hilarious stories, and his humor and warmth on the message boards. The link above goes to his DariaWiki page, which further links to his online story collections. He was a master of the reinvention fanfic, of emotional realism, and of the unexpected twist.

What are your favorite Decelaraptor stories? Mine would be "Home Is the Sailor," "Beneath a Copper Sun," "Kadhimiya," and "A Star in the East Window." And "Daria: 1830," the one where the Morgendorffers have a Donner Party of their own in the Old West. That one is beyond priceless. It always gives me a smile.

Thank you for everything, Guy. You were and still are The Man. Perhaps November 15th should hereafter be Decelaraptor Day in your memory. You gave us such wonderful memories of our own.

  • NEW! Daria: Hunter—The Love Triangle, by Jim North (continued): "Oh, oh no, baby!" Jeffy said, putting his hand on Quinn's face just below her bruise. "No, no, I don't want to hurt you. I'm sorry about punching you, I swear I didn't mean to, I just got a little carried away. It won't happen again, I promise. I don't want to hurt you..."
  • NEW! Finn Morgendorffer 14: Going Medieval, by HolyGrail2007 (COMPLETE!): “Now, this class lecture is going to be about issues that come up for sensitive, struggling teenage boys,” said Mr. O’Neill. “Because these issues can often be... well... a little yucky, we’ve separated the girls so that you can speak openly without being judged.”
  • Hell on Wheels, by Roxanne M (Part 6): Angier spoke up. "Son, your mother and I were discussing this. We like Daria, and don’t get us wrong, but are you sure she is the girl for you? A proper young lady would not be crawling around bars in the worse part of town, let alone getting shot." Tom was pulled out his exhaustion by a spike of anger. He glared at them and said, “What are you getting at?” It was his mothers turn to speak. “If the media finds out that she is connected to us, it would cast a bad light upon you, this family and your father's firm. His clients do not like that kind of notoriety.”

A Day Without Recycling Is Like a Day Without . . . You Know . . . um, Recycling

You can tell that Sandi Griffin is more than pleased to be the poster girl for America Recycles Day. Wearing a worn emerald jumpsuit with a sleeveless polyester jacket and smelly woolen cap, complemented by Army boots and a week-old piece of salmon in her perfectly coiffed 'do, she is the very image of recycling! Good show, Sandi!

Not sure what else to put here, gimme a bit.

Brother Grimace has added a new entry to DariaWiki: Apocalyptic Daria: Twilight Friday. I don't recall reading this or "Waif Fu," however. Are they in the works?

I was reading through PPMB's older threads and rediscovered Decelaraptor's superb AU ending for "The Teachings of Don Jake," located right here. This is comedy at its finest. Kudos to da 'Raptor!

Fanfic update to come.
