She's No Grizzly, but She'll Definitely Be Growling
Daria is at the very last place she wants to be because it's National Camp Day and therefore her own personal hell. If she thinks it's bad now, just wait until they get out the watermelon.
I would suggest that she hide in the bathroom with her old friend Talking Toilet for World Toilet Day, but that's not a good idea, either. I suspect the quality of the camp bathrooms (if they have any) is worse than Skip Stevens's singing voice.
Instead, maybe she could see if anyone brought any board games so she can ignore Skip and celebrate Play Monopoly Day. I'm sure Amelia would be happy to play, although that isn't necessarily a selling point for Daria.

Mixing Recyclables During Daylight Hours? Not Done.
You might think that Sandi is glaring because she's being forced to interact with trash, but in reality she's mad because it's National Recycling Day and you clearly did not properly separate your plastics from your glass. Tsk.
While everyone is tidying up and throwing out old stuff, it might be a good idea to celebrate Clean Your Refrigerator Day as well. The Lanes' fridge is pretty empty already, but they should consider giving it a good wipedown to get rid of whatever that red stuff is.
Someone needs to tell Skip Stevens that it's National Camp T-Shirt Day and he should dig out his old Camp Grizzly shirt. Although it wouldn't surprise me to learn that he wears that shirt every single day.

The Fashion Club Doesn't Even Recycle Outfits
I really hope the Fashion Club isn't just throwing out their rejected newsletters because it's America Recycles Day and they should do their best to keep things out of landfills. At the very least, they could hold onto them until their bad advice comes back into style, and then recycle the newsletters as timely suggestions!
If you have anything you want to get rid of that's still in good condition, please consider donating it in honor of National Philanthropy Day. Yes, belly chains and go-go boots count, if you must.
I'm sure Daria would be happy to donate her old Camp Grizzly shirt, even though it's National Camp T-Shirt Day and this would be a great opportunity to break out that awesome chant: Go, Grizzlies! Go, Grizzlies! Go...away.
Fanfic Update!
- Crappy Thanksgiving, by wilddogjj (part 1): "Jim, Chuck (formerly Upchuck) and Chris (Jim's brother) were in Jim's man cave. The reason they weren't outside hanging out with Kevin on his porch is because the weather's bad, with dark gray skies and heavy rain."
- Crushing Timmy, by wilddogjj (COMPLETE!): "Timmy and Kayla were walking home from the mall. Timmy carried Kayla's shopping bags as they approached his house." (Part 3)
- Her Last Words, by Sheila Wisz Ellayn (part 75): "At first Anna Felicia had been so confident about what would happen that night, and yet now that she was facing the bloody thing for real, she was not so sure about Lockie's psychological strategy anymore."
- Spider Quinn 03: Comes Great Responsibility, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 1): "After running some distance into fog, Quinn took to the rooftops and trees, and swung aimlessly around Lawndale."

All the Grizzly Details
Fifteen years ago today in another universe, a young girl named Daria Morgendorffer vanished on a nature hike at Camp Grizzly. This is her story. And yes yes yes yes yes, I am going to finish the series this year if at all possible.Brother Grimace discovered an interesting essay about the "Macho Sue" character type, which provoked a lot of thought on my part (and probably for others by the time you read this). See the thread about this topic right here. Jane Lane has her own thoughts on the Macho Sue topic.
PPMB
- The Cynic and the Defender, by Doggieboy (Part 12): Daria answered the door before Robert could knock, and the two embraced and kissed. “Is she here?” he asked when he broke the kiss. She nodded and smiled. “Yes. She’s very impatient. Said something about going to the mall to meet her friends.”
- Lawndale's Finest: The Dark Knight, by NightGoblyn (Chapter 4, Part 8): “Well, you don’t see that everyday,” Tomcat said, lowering his binoculars. Robin put down her takeout box of curry and pulled herself up so she could see over the safety wall at the roof’s edge. The bright pink Cadillac pulling into the mostly empty parking lot next to Ace Chemical stood out like a sore thumb. “It looks like a pimp car,” she said. She reached up and tapped her goggles, zooming in on the car as the driver got out and started walking towards the building. “He’s the plant director’s son.” [Epilogue now up! Wow!]
- Noon, by thatLONERchick (COMPLETE!): 11:59. Her hand trembles as she brings the glass to bruised lips. The crystal is clouded by a smear of carmine which contrasts against the golden liquid within. (FF.net)
- Reaped Out (Dead Like Me crossover finally has a name! Yay, Pinkminx!), by Pinkminx (Part 9): "What do you mean you just left him there?" Rube folded the crossword section of the newspaper and set it down beside him. "Your job specifies that you take the soul and guide them into the afterlife" He leant forward and grasped his hands together, interlocking his fingers as he inhaled deeply, waiting for Daria's reply.
- Tales of the Ringbearers: With New Responsiblity, by Richard Lobinske and Brother Grimace (Part 1): Dressed in his flight gear and carrying a helmet with "Archangel" painted across the visor cover, Capt. Gerald Wright angrily marched away from the campus helipad toward the Curtis E. LeMay College of Military Studies. "AlertCon One and I'm here to ferry the old Project Fast Forward director back to Uatu HQ," the tall, well muscled African-American growled. "I'm the one that warned them that the **** was going to hit the fan today and they're sending me off on taxi duty. I know Gen. Trainor has connections, but dammit."
- Unnamed story (1,001 Deaths of Tom Sloane - Part II), by Dennis (COMPLETE!): Tom was surprised to receive an an email from his old girlfriend Jane Lane, and even more surprised to find that it contained business information. Apparently, the Baltimore area was home to a wealthy recluse who needed an financial adviser to keep his father's formerly successful meat packing business going. Jane's email had the man's name, Mason Verger, and the address of a large mansion in Owings Mills. Tom had wasted no time in heading over.
- Unnamed story (1,001 Deaths of Tom Sloane - Part II), by Deref (COMPLETE!): It was pure coincidence that, as Kevin stepped off the landing gear tread, his static line, snapping back against the release, whipped across the cow's rump. The cow (whose presence in the plane was another of those unlikely coincidences that, while rare, are not altogether unknown), not thinking particularly clearly (not unusually, it must be said, for a cow), bolted for (and inevitably out of) the door, following closely behind Kevin as he plunged earthwards. Meanwhile, below, Jane was admonishing Tom and Daria...
- Unnamed story (1,001 Deaths of Tom Sloane - Part II), by Derek (COMPLETE!): The wind roared in Sam Johnson's ears as he plummeted towards the ground. He loved skydiving. It was the ultimate feeling of freedom. The only thing better would be to have actual wings. With a mental sigh, he decided it was time to open his parachute. He reached up and yanked on the chute's ripcord. Nothing happened.
- Unnamed story (1,001 Deaths of Tom Sloane - Part II), by NightGoblyn (COMPLETE!): Tom glanced around in confusion, trying to figure out how he'd ended up in the middle of a barren, stony desert. Just a couple of minutes ago, he'd been eating at the Good Time Chinese Restaurant with his girlfriend Daria and his ex-girlfriend Jane. He'd gotten up to use the bathroom, gotten lost somewhere in the back of the building on his way out, and apparently ended up somewhere in the Midwest.
- Unnamed story (Scenes No Daria Fanfic Should Have: TGIF), by Brother Grimace (COMPLETE!): "Well, bailiff... call the next case," Charles Ruttheimer III said, leering unashamedly at Brittany Taylor as he sat behind the desk placed on a pair of risers in the classroom, proud as a bantam rooster as he stroked the fabric of the black judge's robe he wore. "Rowlllll..."

A Grizzly Tale About Summer Camp

Just eight years ago, "Camp Fear" made its debut on MTV. This episode produced one of the best lines ever spoken in the series. (Jesse: "You know, if a shark doesn't keep swimming, it just stands still.") Other than that, though, many fans are not terribly fond of it... except as fodder for AU tales. Richard Lobinske did "Daylight: Visiting Camp Grizzly," NightGoblyn did "The Misery Chicks," and there was that Outers thing. Kristen Bealer wrote the perfect prequel, too.How else could "Camp Fear" have been different? How could it have been better? No one to my knowledge has yet written an AU of "Camp Fear" simply to remove some of the disliked aspects of the original episode and add their own suggestions (not without adding SF elements, that is).
That's something worth writing about in Comments, below. Don't write the story, just say how you think it could have been better or different. Maybe someone will pick up on it for a great fanfic later.

- Daria and Jane Go to the Moon, by Echopapa (Part 4): "C'mon, Jane, I'm dyin' here!" Daria huffed. "Can't we take a break?"
- Not-Quite-Forever Girl, by Alpacca Jo, a.k.a. thatLONERchick (COMPLETE!): Just as she turned to walk away, a voice called her back to the present.

- Acts of Cupidity, by Disco316 (COMPLETE!): Quinn’s eyes bugged out a bit. “You were able to snag Mack? Daria, I’m... I’m proud of you!”
- Legion of Lawndale Heroes GT 1:1—West Texas Walkabout, by Roentgen (Part 1): It all started when my best friend Jane got into an argument with Tom before we left. Oddly enough, it was an argument about Jane’s red jacket.
- A New Set of Rules, by Dennis (Part 7): “Whatever, Daria,” Kevin said, taking a step back. Daria couldn't tell if he was making way for her or getting away from her, but nonetheless, she crossed the threshold. “Your room again?” He nodded and led her upstairs. They were soon hard at work.
- Rings and Things That Cannot Go Together, by Ranger Thorne (Part 2): “Let me be certain I’m hearing this correctly,” the senior Ringbearer, an older man with the name Alfred Pennyworth said from one side of the table to Daria on the other. “You say that this,” he gestured to the lantern sitting on the table, “came to your Earth from a distance reality that we haven’t yet discovered?” [See also the ongoing discussion over background issues. Interesting.]
- Two Halves, by Dark Kuno (continued): Each of the girls and especially Trent couldn't help but notice the unmistakable flash of bare tanned backside as Brittany's skirt was caught for a moment by the wind as she ran to Kevin's Jeep.
- Jane, Where's My Car? by thatLONERchick (Part 1): "Wow," Daria uttered quietly. "That's a lot of pudding."
