Juneteenth
Today is Juneteenth, established 143 years ago in Galveston, Texas when the Union Army proclaimed an end to slavery in the Galveston area. One wonders if Juneteenth was celebrated in Highland, Texas, and what the young Daria Morgendorffer thought of it. My guess is, she liked the idea and privately wished for her own Juneteenth, when she was free to go off to college and escape Highland, her schools, and her family.
Happy Juneteenth to everyone. More later.
