Rabbi Trent wishes "G'mar Tov" to all Jewish Daria fans for Yom Kippur, which begins at sundown tonight. There are a few fanon conventions that Jake and/or Tiffany is Jewish, but neither theory was ever confirmed on the show itself. Still, fanfic can always fill in the gaps!

Today also begins Banned Books Week, so please either read a controversial book or join Daria in yelling at the television. Hey, why not do both?

A Good Day for Books!

Kevin is reading his favorite comic book for National Comic Book Day, and I'm just shocked that I was able to use "Kevin" and "reading" in the same sentence. On second thought, it's very possible that he's just looking at the pictures. However, anything that puts Kevin in close proximity to books of any kind is to be admired.

Also on the subject of books, Banned Books Week began yesterday and I encourage every one of you to follow Daria's lead in fighting censorship. You could even maybe do more than yell at the TV if you feel like it.

If you're already read them all, why don't you write a story taking people you know in real life and turning them into fictional characters? It'll be a special assignment, just for you!

Happy National Comic Book Day, True Believers! Admittedly the only person in Daria canon that I can remember reading comic books is Kevin, but I know for a fact that there are quite a few avid comic book readers in fandom. This week, September 25th through October 2nd, is Banned Books Week. How will you celebrate? You could yell at the TV, like our esteemed heroine. You could read one or more books from one of the American Library Association's Frequently Challenged Books lists. You could even hold a book-burner burning. For legal reasons, I of course cannot endorse that last one, but if you choose to do so, remember to bring marshmallows.
