Tiffany, I Choose You!

Tiffany is trying out an unusual look for National Pokemon Day, and while she does look cute I'm afraid that outfit does make her look fat. The good news is that if anyone makes fun of her she can use Bubble Beam on them. It's super effective!

Appropriately enough, it's also No Brainer Day, which is perfect for Tiffany. It's also well-suited for Brittany and Kevin, who celebrate it every day in Mr. DeMartino's class...to his chagrin.

I hope Lawndale is ready for the sudden influx of tourism it's about to experience for National Strawberry Day, because I have no doubt that people will flock from all over the world to see the town's famous Big Strawberry. Or, maybe not. Who can say?

Caaaaaaatch Theeeeeem Aaaaaall!

Tiffany's looking extra-cute today as a fictional critter for National Pokemon Day, but don't expect her to participate in any battles. She might mess up her hair or smudge her makeup or (gasp) break a nail!

Let's hope Lawndale's tourism industry (assuming it has one) gets a boost for National Strawberry Day, because Lawndale is the home of the Big Strawberry! Although it only appeared in the books, the Big Strawberry did manage a surprising number of fanfic appearances.

Finally, why not enjoy a blast from the past for Retro Day? You can dig through Jane's old clothes for something vintage or reminisce with the Yeagers about the good old days. Or just sell a bunch of old junk at a flea market!

Fanfic Update!
  • The Betrothed, by easmith (part 16): "'I call Lord Dylan of House Adams for questioning!' Dylan was still sitting in his chair when the call came, head in hand and drink still largely untouched."

  • Parting Gift, by RĂ©mi (part 7): "Entering the kitchen of the Morgendorffer home, a still barely awake Daria was greeted by an appetizing smell. Quinn, already washed, made up and dressed for the day, was busy in front of a stove."

  • Roasted, by wilddogjj (part 4): "Quinn was horrified to find a dead body right outside the back door of her new restaurant. Even worse was the fact that this was someone that she knew."

  • Spider Quinn 07: Ashes to Ashes, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 1): "A car was being chased along a back road. 'Come on, pick up!' the woman driving said."

  • Titanic - A True Story, by Sheila Wisz Ellayn (parts 30 and 31): "There it was, the greatest ship ever created all broken and sinking so fast on its final voyage to the depths of the ocean, well over a thousand people cried and screamed in the freezing water everywhere and even Ethel found herself reduced to shock." (Part 31)

I Choooooose Yoooooouuuu!

Tiffany hopes everyone is having a great National Pokemon Day, and Tiffany as a Pokemon actually makes sense. They don't speak much, and their favorite word is their own name. I doubt Tiffany could even take on a Weedle in a fight, though.

Today is also National Strawberry Day, so perhaps the Lawndale residents will mark the occasion by visiting the Big Strawberry. It's not like there's anything more exciting going on in town.

Talk amongst yourselves!

Okay, so I was going to preface this fanfic update with some kind of "this day in history" or Daria-relevant factoid or something like that, but it turns out I'm completely out of ideas at the moment. So you guys go ahead and discuss whatever you like in the comments. We'll call it recess.

Also, here's a random picture of Tiffany as a Pokemon. Or something.

Fanfic!

  • God Save The Esteem 11: Ridin' Slowly, by Charles RB (parts 1 and 2): "Erin headbutted him, guzzled half a bottle of vodka, belched, and turned the other into a Molotov cocktail that burnt the office down. 'NO FUTURE!' she declared. 'SMASH THE STATE!'" (Part 2)

  • The James Lane Chronicles Chapter 3, by InvisibleDan (part 3): "James went back to his painting. He suddenly decided he didn't want to work on it anymore. It was as good as it was going to get. He put down his paintbrush and stood back to look at his work. After a few seconds of admiring the finished product, he decided that going to the store could wait a bit longer. He picked up his phone and dialed Daria's number. She answered. 'Hello?' 'It's ready.' 'I'll be right over.'"

  • Jane Morgendorffer, by LadieT (part 23): "Stopping every so often to look at her sister, Jane was still amazed at the voice that came from the small girl. Daria was so quiet, her voice usually soft and monotoned, but when she sang - the power showed."

  • Kolchak: The Lawndale File, by Chris Tucker: "I had been searching for the relationship that Jake had with each of the murder victims, except for the Lane boy, and not what was the relationship all the victims had with each other, as well as Jake. Now, with both the revelations as to how Trent Lane had been really murdered, and the murder of Landon, maybe I needed to look at the relationships between ALL the murder victims, and their relationship to Jake."

  • Raft College: The First Year, by rglovejoy (parts 32 and 33): "Daria sat on the chair, wearing only a bathrobe. Outside the window, she could see the dorm residents enjoying a cookout in the courtyard below. It was the final day of the Columbus Day weekend; it was also likely to be the last day it will be sunny and warm enough to wear shorts and play volleyball or just lie in the Sun." (Part 33)

  • [series name redacted], Book 1, by vlademir1 (part 2): "Amy Barksdale looked up at the building in front of her craning her neck slightly trying to take it all in. Glancing down at her watch she scolded herself for dillydallying. Her meeting with her editor on the was on the 77th floor in half an hour and she didn't want to be late again, this was a make or break on her career especially after that recent incident."

  • Shifting Gears (Write-off Challenge 6, Round 3), by Shull Bitter (COMPLETE!): "He caressed the car, leaving a trail of grime across the hood. 'Eeek!' Daria held back laugher as he stripped off his shirt and frantically wiped it in circles. The sight of a scrawny boy with bright red patches of scraggly chest hair apologizing to a hunk of metal while inadvertently grinding dirt deeper into its hood? It was almost too much for her."

  • Unnamed story (Flinging Fourth the New Ideas Thread), by Trscroggs (COMPLETE!): "The year is 2020 and the world is running on empty."

  • Y-Me?, by HolyGrail2007 (part 34): "Keeping her identity a secret at this point might not have even meant that much. It wasn’t as if Mitch could walk back to college. What mattered now was the fun part, the part where he had a great time. It worked at the party Quinn took him to for the bet the two had, but this one was more important. There was more on the line than simple bio lab help."

Gotta Catch 'Em All!

No, no chance this one will ever be a mascot. Oh, boy.

New art from Bliss Ticks on PPMB: "Seeing Double"

Most amusing new thread on PPMB: "The completely random post thread, part II - I drank what?"

As usual, lots of new stuff in PPMB's Creative Writing forum, but I am too far behind in reading it to even start talking about it here, though I do intend to fix that situation soon.

Daria's appearances in Beavis and Butt-head are highlighted in the newest link section to the left, just before the fan art section starts. I am still working the bugs out of how to highlight the recommended and active links in the categories (italics won't work after all, screws up alphabetical order).

More news shortly, stick around. Or, you know, not.
