It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Magazine!

The founder of Mad magazine, Harvey Kurtzman, was born 84 years ago today. Wanna bet that Amy Barksdale read this periodical every chance she got growing up? And why isn't there any fan art of Young Amy? It's criminal, the lack of it. (Hint, hint.)

It was in early October that Wildgoose's story, "A Mere Formality," took place. A pleasant read from early in the fandom's history.

Lawndale Online turns 1 today.

  • Is It Graduation Yet? by MandeeMistress (Part 9): He would be the last thing that Daria saw before she left, Trent thought. He would make sure she wouldn’t forget him, she couldn’t after what he’d have in store.
  • The Vertical Stripes, by respitechristopher (COMPLETE!): “Then it’s decided: the Fashion Club will henceforth be referred to as ‘The Lawndale Sweet Adelines.’ Quinn, you will sing tenor; Tiffany, you will sing baritone–”
Fortress CINCGREEN
  • Data Dump, by CINCGREEN (Part 8): The choice was either to walk outside or to look for a weapon and kill them both. Did she make the right choice?

Did I say Data Dump was getting awesomer? I meant creepier.

Okay, okay, it's awesome, too.

I picked up an issue of Mad earlier this week after not having read it for years, and man did it suck.

(Then again, I was always a Cracked man anyway).
