Joey couldn't be prouder to have been named Miss America, especially as it was on this day in 1921 that the first winner was crowned. Joey's victory also lends support to Daria's theory that spelling one's name with a "Y" creates an advantage in the competition.
In keeping with the theme of being recognized onstage, today is also Actors' Day, and if we're lucky Quinn will favor us with a performance. Just remember to emphasize the right syllables! Oh, and duck when the turkey leg comes flying at you!
Finally, it's the anniversary of the Starry Night Ball at the Lawndale Art Museum, as mentioned in Is It Fall Yet? Anyone want to split a table with me for $5,000? I'm sure we all could find that under our couch cushions, right?
Fanfic Update!
- all i ever know, by sixspades (COMPLETE!): "Daria and Jane were opposites from each other, in a way, yet also had so many traits in common."
- Shadows of a Timeless Song, by Dennis (part 18): "It was more than an hour before they were on the A74, the first of the main roads that would bring them south to Glastonbury. Navigating the twisty roads and roundabouts had occupied Hermione's concentration, but she was on familiar ground now, which gave Daria an opening."
- That Undiscovered Country, by E. A. Smith (parts 8 - 11): "It didn’t take long for us to establish a daily routine, a comfortable – and comforting – rhythm of life together." (Part 9) (Part 10) (Part 11)
