Happy birthday to the late science fiction writer Isaac Asimov, who is believed to have been born on this day in 1920. I know there are at least a few Asimov fans in Daria fandom, so share your favorite Asimov work in the comments if you like!
Don't forget to send in your nominations for the 2011 Daria Fanworks Awards! You only have until January 10!
Fanfic Update!
- Chaos Theory: The Esteem of the Cynic and the Eccentric, by Walter Kovacs (parts 2 - 4): "Haruhi scowled and stated in a curt tone of voice 'Quinn remember what mom said about you dating older boys after the Todd incident?' In a cold tone, Haruhi contineud with 'I'm sure you wouldn't like it if you were banned from dating until oh say age 18'. Daria raised an eyebrow at Haruhi's unusually hostile response to Quinn's query and made a note of it to talk to Haruhi about it." (Part 3) (Part 4)
- Daria - Double Down, by neonhomer (part 16): "Quinn paused for a moment. 'I think that even though I have shunned you, never acknowledging that you are my sister, that you still deep down inside, love your little sister.' Daria looked at the floor. 'Yeah... really deep down.' Muttered Daria. 'Daria.' Said Jake from behind his paper. Daria shrugged, and looked at the floor. 'Yeah, well... IguessIdoloveyou.' Mumbled Daria."
- John Lane 52: From the Last Step to the First, by RLobinske (part 3): "The corridor looked to be well on its way to being a post-apocalypse movie set. Random locker doors hung open. Loose papers lay scattered around overflowing trash cans while here and there were odd bits of cloth or other unidentifiable objects. 'And so it ends,' John said. 'Well, we have one more thing to do,' Daria said. 'Oh, yeah. Onward to the front office.'"
- The Outers III: Was Blind But Now Can See, by The Angst Guy (part 1): "He hesitated before going on. 'It appears the Moon's orbit is changing. I was working on this development an hour ago when the government—' He glanced at Agent Hardesty '—once again came to my office and suggested my services were needed elsewhere.' Before the FBI agent could respond, Daria got a word. 'The Moon's orbit is changing? How?'"
- Star Trek: A New Century: Time of Terror (Non-Daria), by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 1): "'Bridge to Captain,' the voice of the tactical officer came over the intercom. 'Report,' he said. 'We are receiving a distress call from a Federation freighter about two light years away,' the tactical officer said."
- Unnamed story (just a little something...), by oni (part 3): "'I don't believe it! You knew "The Beavis and Butthead",' exclaimed a crazed fan. The guy had to be in his mid-thirties with greasy hair and braces. A name tag sticker with 'Artie' sat on his chest. Daria remembered there being an annual UFO convention nearby."
