Once Upon a Time....

Daria is having an enjoyable Campfire Day, or at least she seems to be enjoying herself. I don't know how much everyone listening to her grisly fairy tale is enjoying their time.

If they need to get away from the graphic violence, they could find a higher vantage point by celebrating Mountain Climbing Day. That's if there's a convenient mountain in the area, of course. And assuming they brought the appropriate climbing gear. And let's hope they don't find Mr. O'Neill's underpants acting as a makeshift flag.

Speaking of horror stories, although today is National Girlfriends Day, I hope Tom knows that the plural refers to women who are friends with each other, not an encouragement to date multiple people simultaneously. I would hope that he'd learned his lesson after the last time, but....

Fanfic Update!
  • Daria Barksdale, by DrT (COMPLETE!): "Helen dropped into a chair, exhausted. 'Finally,' she said. 'I finally forced Daria into a different room so she would stop teasing Quinn about Santa.'"

  • Equestria Hurls, by Erin M (part 4): "Nathan paused as he walked down the street to his car. Something was off. He glanced behind him, unable to shake the feeling he was being followed."

  • For Jane, It Was Tuesday, by Blake C Stacey (BlakeStacey) (COMPLETE!): "Since arriving in Lawndale with the feeling that the best thing about it would be the lower level of uranium in the drinking water, Daria has busted out of self-esteem class and left a cheerleader's party with the bounty of a free sock."

  • Inter-Quell, by Blake C Stacey (BlakeStacey) (COMPLETE!): "Taiwanese vegan food, with its centuries-long tradition of substitution and mimicry, might be the closest approximation to cyborg food that actually tastes good."

  • Just One Question, Really, by Blake C Stacey (BlakeStacey) (COMPLETE!): "Daria is bundled up in her winter coat and smushed down under a woolen cap. After the confines of travel and then the December wind, her hair is on the edge of unkempt."

  • Lawndale Makes Strange Bedfellows, by Blake C Stacey (BlakeStacey) (COMPLETE!): "'That boy used to be popular, but then his parents divorced and his dad took the cool car, so he's less popular. Those three boys are on the football team but only JV, so they're medium popular. She is new and cute, so she's going to be popular fast. Those two, ugh, I don't know why they're here, Brittany must be volunteering to provide social skills for the less fortunate...'"

  • Pokemon: May's Journey, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 2): "A few hours later, the aircraft descended into Lavender Town. May noticed the somber tone of the town as they circled around the tower before landing in front of it."

  • Puella Magi Daria Magica, by Blake C Stacey (BlakeStacey) (COMPLETE!): "'Wait, did you say six times?' An hour ago, the girl behind Daria in Mr. O'Neill's quintessentially useless self-esteem building session had been whispering to her to sit back and ignore the details, and now they're walking together, Daria looking up at dark hair and a face just a bit too angular to be called heart-shaped and extraordinarily blue eyes."

  • Spider Quinn 22 Attractions of Lawndale, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (parts 9 and 10): "Dafoanairi reflected on what happened as she and the Enigma stepped into Dega Street from the laneway." (Part 10)

  • This doesn't feel like I'm helping, by Robin_Robinson (COMPLETE!): "Quinn was gorgeous. No doubt about that. Everyone knew it. From the popular to unpopular, from young to old, from enemies to her closest friends, everyone knew that Quinn Morgendorffer was among the cutest at school."

  • Women Who Love Vulcan Women, by Blake C Stacey (BlakeStacey) (COMPLETE!): "T'Lyn, eldest daughter of Suvatri and T'Kel, is about to order her room-temperature water from the mess-hall replicator when her padd chirps."

  • You Are My Best Bet, by riotsquirrrl (part 6): "Jane had a way of looking at you, Daria thought, as she carefully focused on eating her cake. Clear and sharp, seeing the gestalt of her."

Dancing Cheek to Mane

I see Daria is sharing a dance with the Lawndale Lions mascot for Tango Day, and I'm a little curious: when a teenager holding toilet paper dances with a giant lion, who leads? Anyway, this will probably be the shortest tango ever danced, because if Mr. O'Neill doesn't suffocate first, then Daria's boots will take care of the situation.

I'm sure Mr. O'Neill would rather endure the humiliation and restricted airflow of a lion costume than go on another Lawndale's Wilderness Adventure Club trip, even if it's International Mountain Day. If nothing else, at least he gets to keep his underwear on in the costume...or at least I hope he does.

Finally, I hope Helen withdraws that planned lawsuit against UNICEF, because today is the organization's birthday. It was created on this day in 1946 and has earned countless pennies to help children around the world since.

Fanfic Update!
  • Bigger and Brighter and Wider Than Snow, by elle_stone (part 27): "Her parents used to live on a commune in the late 60s. Then the infighting got bad and the art started to suffer, so they dropped out, went up to Canada for a while–knowing them, without papers."

  • How to Train Your Dragon: Berk in Time, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 2): "The Riders landed on the top deck. They quickly noticed that it wasn’t made of wood, rather it seemed to be composed of some metal or other."

  • Twas the Fight Before Christmas, by wilddogjj (COMPLETE!): "Snow is falling over Lawndale Mall. Combined with the Christmas decorations, this makes it visually obvious that it's December." (Part 2) (Part 3)

  • Unnamed story (Scenes no Daria fanfic should have), by roentgen (COMPLETE!): "(Daria, Quinn, Jane, and Stacy are stowaways on a luxury boat cruise. The problem is that the cruise is over, and without a passport to disembark they are in serious trouble.)"

Well, No, That Mountain Does NOT Make You Look Fat

I see Tiffany already has a head start on celebrating Mountain Climbing Day, but I really hope she isn't going up on her own. The buddy system (even if no one can stand to listen to her talk) is important even for people of normal intelligence. Then again, climbing a mountain in a group didn't work out so well in "Antisocial Climbers," did it?

If Helen and Quinn decide to climb any mountains, they should schedule it in one of Deena Decker's planners in honor of National Planner Day. Helen's is most likely "WORK" written on every page, while Quinn can barely squeeze any other activities in between dates in hers.

Of course, physical planners are soooo old fashioned, especially considering that it's World Wide Web Day. Be like Jake and log onto the world wide weberverse! Or the information superhighway. Whatever the kids are calling it these days.

Fanfic Update!
  • The Betrothed, by easmith (part 27): "Dylan sat on the couch in the common room of the boarding house, idly twirling a beer in one hand and a pen in the other, one eye on the TV and the other on the blank notebook on his lap."

  • Crystal Claw, by Sheila Wisz Ellayn (part 38): "t was true that days and nights still followed a natural pattern even in the depths of Sallakovia, and yet the lost soul of a certain Lawndale girl had already lost all track of time and of how long she had already been stuck at that place."

  • Life Gets Better Every Letter That You Write Me, by ladyevil (part 4): "'So, in my dream,' Helen said as she lounged on Dr. Becky’s couch. 'Daria acts like she doesn’t even know me. Only, it’s not an act like it is with Quinn when she likes to pretend that she’s not related to Daria or Jake. She genuinely doesn’t seem to recognize me, and she acts like I’m just some crazy lady who claims to be her mother. She’s all "I don’t have a mother. Get away from me". And so, I chase after her. She’s not running in the dream, but I am, and yet, she just gets further and further from, which does not make any sense.'"

Cliiiiiiimb Eeeeeeevery Moooooountaaaaain

Tiffany is giving Mount Everest Day a shot, but I don't give her very good odds of succeeding. Her brainpower under normal circumstances is iffy, so in the thin air of a mountaintop she'd probably be even more useless than usual.

For those who'd like to keep both feet (and maybe the rest of themselves) on the ground, there's always Learn About Composting Day! Just ask Willow and Helen for some pointers...or at least ask Willow, anyway. I think Helen's had her fill of the whole thing.

If you're interested in learning about other gross things, you might talk to Jane and Daria about End of the Middle Ages Day, and I'm sure they'd be happy to pass along some fun facts. Although I use the terms "fun" and "facts" quite loosely.

Fanfic Update!
  • The Betrothed, by easmith (part 23): "Meredith pulled away with all the force of a full-blown panic, a jolt of pain shooting from her shoulder telling her that she was nearly dislocating her arm out of its socket in the process."

  • Life Gets Better Every Letter That You Write Me, by ladyevil (part 2): "Dear Trent, Daria stared at the blank page."

Dancing Cheek to Mane

Daria seems to be an unwilling participant in National Tango Day, and one must wonder: if a lion and a teenager dance, who leads? Trick question; the teenager immediately sues the lion for invasion of personal space.

Unfortunately, Helen won't be able to take the case because she's probably too busy suing UNICEF on the anniversary of its creation in 1946. Please, Helen, try to remind Eric that UNICEF has nothing to do with manufacturing tires, okay?

Finally, we should let the Wilderness Adventure Club know that today is International Mountain Day and they should try their hand at climbing a mountain again. At least, we could have done that if the Wilderness Adventure Club hadn't presumably disbanded immediately after that fiasco with the blizzard.

When Fans Say They Think Tiffany Is High, This Isn't What They Mean!

We always knew Tiffany's feet weren't firmly planted, but now on National Mountain Climbing Day we have the final proof. Has anyone explained to her, though, that only air gets thinner at high altitudes, not people? Oh, well. At least she can enjoy the view.

I'm sure Daria and Quinn will be celebrating Respect For Parents Day, what with their immense admiration for Jake and Helen--never mind; I can't even type that with a straight face!

Speaking of respect (or lack of) for parents, today is National Andrew Day, and I hope Andrew Landon gets all the respect he deserves...which is very little. Jodie, tell him where he can shove his opinions and demands, okay?

Good News! That Mountain Doesn't Make You Look Fat!

Tiffany's all suited up for National Mountain Climbing Day, which surprises me a bit. I mean, not only is she attempting actual physical exertion, but she's even dressed more or less appropriately for it! Helmet, gloves, safety gear...not a single high-heeled shoe or slip dress to be seen!

Today is also MTV's 40th birthday, which means the TV channel is definitely too old for its own key demographic. Time to trade out for a younger model!

Fanfic Update!
  • Big In Japan, by WildDogJJ (parts 2 - 4): "Tony sat alone in his hospital bed. Fortunately, his room had a TV. He looked up and watched a news report." (Part 3) (Part 4)

  • Born on the Fourth of July, by Lady Evil (part 12): "'Um, Jesse?' Jane said as Jesse managed to honk his way past another motorist who was using the wrong finger to point at him. 'It’s not like Trent’s having a baby or anything.'"

  • Bravo Zulu - A Lawndale High Story, by benson (part 1): "Colonel Tom Sloan, USMC Retired, stood in his pressed officer's uniform, stared up at the Lawndale High School's front signage in the early dawn of September, and snarled."

  • Daria on the Trail (Daria Landing In Another Fanfiction: An Experiment), by Meester_Lee (part 8): "Mr. Orrick and the other men returned in the early afternoon. Daria and the other women had just a communal potty break when Daria saw someone driving a covered wagon eastward driven by what looked like a familiar team of oxen."

  • Daria's Great Adventure, by dmsfanman (part 40): "Daria opened her eyes as she felt a hand on her shoulder gently shaking her."

  • Daria: Spring Is Icumin, by Meester_Lee (parts 3 and 4): "Well, here goes, thought Amy, pulling out her cell phone. She’d added Helen’s home phone number to her contact list sometime after Helen and her family had come back east from that awful place in Texas but never used it." (Part 4)

  • Doctor Who - Changes in Time and Space, by cfardell_Brenorenz29 (part 3): "It was a normal day at Stargate Command; as normal as a day could get at a US Air Force installation with an interstellar portal device anyway."

  • Getting Out From Under It, by Erin M. (part 1): "Jane watched as the Tank made its way back down the winding dirt road toward Ashfield’s main gate and the highway. As soon as the ancient van turned and was out of sight, she sighed and began making her way back to the cabin."

  • One Big Hippie Family, by Kristen Bealer (COMPLETE!): "Once every bit of old clothing Jake and Helen owned was covered in swirling bright colors, the family moved on to the drum circle. Daria's observation that it was technically a square was ignored by all."

  • Ozark Odyssey (Linn's short stories (or ficlets, drabbles...)), by Linnofthewoods (part 3): "After everyone had finally fallen asleep at almost 3, Trixie the cat had been spending the night sniffing absolutely everything that had been brought into her territory."

This Mountain is Soooo Shiny!

Tiffany's being unusually physically active today, but only because it's International Mountain Day. I'm sure once she gets to the top and checks her makeup she'll return to her typical languid stupor. I don't know if the rest of the Wilderness Adventure Club is coming up with her, but if they are you can bet Ms. Li has brought the video camera along.

Meanwhile, Helen's busy trying to decide whether or not to try suing UNICEF again, because today is the organization's birthday. It was created on this day in 1946, and I'm sure they've accumulated quite a few pennies since then.

Fanfic Update!
  • Daria's Great Adventure, by dmsfanman (part 15): "Anton got on the radio. 'Hey, when you are all finished having fun over there I have incoming here. I have three Groundfighter robots headed for the reactor. I could use some backup.'"

  • Erin the Side of Caution, by Kristen Bealer (parts 1 and 2): "Helen was pacing the living room impatiently, feeling angrier by the second. She was furious with her mother for guilting her into working on Erin's divorce. She was furious with Rita for backing out of helping in favor of a whirlwind trip to New York with her boyfriend. Most of all, she was furious with herself for once again getting dragged into the same family drama that she'd been trying to avoid since she was a child." (Part 2)

  • Pimpin' Ain't Easy (Life After Thirty), by WildDogJJ (COMPLETE!): "Quinn, Jim and Giselle are sitting in the living room discussing the situation. Giselle looks like a deer caught in the headlights."

  • Searching For a New Hope, by thatLONERchick (part 14): "The armchair across the room was dragged over and Trent joined his sister at Daria's bedside. He smiled and draped her drab green jacket across her legs. 'You forgot this.'"

  • Unnamed story (LLH Short Entries #2), by Roentgen (part 156): "'I have to think that this place is very...creepy,' Andrea said. 'I mean, I liked the Arboreum, but the rest? You can have it.' She was being given the grand tour by Sandi Griffin, who was doing her best to hold her tongue. 'Well...that's an interesting perspective,' she said in return."

No, Tiffany, That Mountain Does Not Make You Look Fat

Tiffany's celebrating National Mountain Climbing Day, but I hope she's being careful because the thinner air at that elevation might cause mental deterioration and--oh, never mind. On the bright side, if she falls off and lands on her head, there's not likely to be any serious damage.

Fanfic Update!
  • Daria's Great Adventure, by dmsfanman (part 7): "Daria had insisted that the person to help Tom exit the hooch was going to be her. They stood in the airlock wearing their surface suits."

  • Erin Chambers, by OzFerret (part 3): "Erin finished typing the document, saved it and sent it to the printer. With that task complete she sat back with a contented smile. The job was going well. She was most of the way through her third week and she felt she made a Valuable Contribution."

  • Knight in shining armor, by RĂ©mi (COMPLETE!): "Upchuck's car. Upchuck is driving. Daria and Quinn are huddled together at the backside. However, Daria has composed herself and put up a stoic front."

  • Return To Highland (Quinn, Season 5), by WildDogJJ (COMPLETE!): "There's a thin layer of snow on the ground and Christmas decorations on all the houses because it's December. Quinn and Jim are in the driveway loading their luggage into Quinn's car. They are obviously going on a road trip." (Part 2) (Part 3)

  • Unnamed story (LLH Short Entries #2), by Brother Grimace and Roentgen (parts 140 and 141): "Danny stepped out of the bathroom in Quinn's apartment, dressed for the very first time in her Elite Academy uniform. 'So - what do you think?'" (Part 141)

Does This Mountain Make Me Look Faaaaat?

Tiffany's celebrating International Mountain Day by climbing one, although I'm not sure she's got the mental capacity to handle such a complex and dangerous task. The good news is that the thin air as she gets higher shouldn't impair her cognitive functions too much.

Today is also the 70th anniversary of the humanitarian organization UNICEF. No, Eric, you can't celebrate by suing them. I don't care how many pennies you'll get out of it.

Fanfic Update!
  • Cops And Robbers And Magic, by psychotol (part 5): "'So, 'Make America Great Again' is taken and will likely be downright toxic next election, so we need a new four word or close to four word slogan that is just as catchy as it was last election,' said Carrie."

  • Cynic and a Six-String, by fringeperson (part 43): "The thing about having been good friends with Trent before they were dating, as well as being best friends with his sister, Daria found it a lot easier to go and just talk to them about the whole mess than to keep it to herself."

  • Daria (and other characters) on the Defiant Round Robin, by Meester_Lee (parts 47 and 48): "Helia turned around in time to watch in wonder as Captain Sisko walked right through the Earth girl who was standing in the doorway of her cabin. The girl staggered for a moment, then began to come back to herself." (Part 48)

  • Daria Takes Charge, by dmsfanman (part 2): "Standing there kissing his wife Tom took in all of the sensations. The softness of Daria's lips was something which was part of her natural beauty."

  • Daria, the Radio serial, by Roentgen (part 5): "O'NEILL: And so, for tomorrow, I want you to make of ten etiquette dos and don'ts. BOY: Oh, Mr. O'Neill, Mr. O'Neill?! O'NEILL: Yes, um... you. BOY: Is that ten in total, or ten of each? Dos and dont's, that is?"

  • Ted Talks Trash (The Ted Zone), by Kristen Bealer (COMPLETE!): "'...and that brings me to reason number thirty-four why women are genetically superior to men,' Ms. Barch was telling her students. Science class was one of the rare places where Ted actually appreciated other people's tendency to overlook him."

  • Unnamed story (Iron Chef: The Daria Christmas Party), by EntrancedCat (COMPLETE!): "Jane Lane got to Lawndale High's first compulsory attendance Christmas party a bit late due to Trent's not-so-trusty blue flivver breaking down more often than usual on the drive over from Casa Lane."

Cliiiiiimb Eeeevery Mooooountaaaaain!

Tiffany's climbing up to observe International Mountain Day, although you'd think her experience in "Antisocial Climbers" would have scared her off the idea. Still, it's hard to look fat when you're next to a mountain, so you can't fault her logic there.

This is also the anniversary of the formation of UNICEF in 1946, so celebrate by not suing them like Helen and Eric did.

Fanfic Update!
  • Guertena's exhibit at Lawndale, by RĂ©mi (part 5): "'Daria, are you OK?' The voice was claiming her attention, lingering on the edge of her foggy mind."

  • I'm (Not) With the Band, by Kristen Bealer (COMPLETE!): "The next thing Trent was aware of was waking up on the couch in his own living room. Squinting his eyes in the bright morning light, he glanced out the front window and was relieved to see that there were no cars parked outside. He had no idea how he'd gotten home, but at least he hadn't driven in his condition."

  • Invader Quinn, by Anguirus1955 (part 10): "Quinn looked up at the clock before returning her attention to the TV. She still had three hours before she needed to be at the high school."

  • Maternal, by Indigo (part 2): "'... and finally the self-esteem class is suspended until father notice. You may now resume learning.' Ms Li said as she dismissed the students."

  • Sailor Mercury Takes A Break (Tales of the Shadow Senshi), by Erin M. (COMPLETE!): "The screams quieted and Mercury tapped the 'record' icon on her computer's touchscreen."

A Holiday for Lawndale's Wilderness Adventure Club

Happy Mountain Day, mountain climbers! Ms. Li will probably schedule a mandatory field trip for this one, but if we're lucky we won't have to see Mr. O'Neill's underwear this time.

Now, how would you like a gigantic monster fanfic update? You wouldn't? Well, too bad!
  • The 26th of December in Lawndale, by Shiva (COMPLETE!): "Outside the snow was blowing in the wind, the streets were covered in rock salt and sand to keep the ice away, and both indoors and out there were decorations about. But that is not our story, oh no sir assuredly no, our story begins deep under the streets of Lawndale."

  • The Alchemist (Scenes that should be: Polite Requests), by Roentgen (COMPLETE!): "Jodie Landon looked at the changes she needed to make for next year. She hated to screw with the team's chemistry but from what she had heard in the locker room, they didn't have much chemistry anyway."

  • Bedside Reading (Daria and the Gang Thread), by Roentgen (COMPLETE!): "'We have a Defcon 2 event, which necessitates breaking our truce,' Daria said. 'Read this.' Daria thrust a few pages forward. 'What? A book?' 'Not just any book,' Daria said. 'It's called, "The Things I Learned as a Hippie and How They Helped My Marriage".'"

  • BFFCA, by PrecambrianStudios (COMPLETE!): "Helen stopped the car in the parking lot behind the massive gray building. 'Come on, mom,' Daria moaned. 'This is a really stupid idea.' Helen took another look at the flyer that hey had been given at the mall. 'Doesn't look like it to me, Daria. I think you could meet some really interesting people here....'"

  • Blood in the Education Waters (Scenes no Daria fic should have: Write The Lightning), by Charles RB (COMPLETE!): "'Janet, you can't keep putting Mr Ruttheimer in the closet,' said Li. 'He'll just get used to it. You need to---'" (Part 2)

  • The Bung Hole (Scenes no Daria fic should have: Write The Lightning), by Smijey (COMPLETE!): "Butt-Head was moseying down the sidewalk absent his usual compadre Beavis when he spied a car idling in front of Schloss Head. He looked into the passenger side window to see who was inside, and what they were doing at his house."

  • Coming Home, by El-Dorobo (COMPLETE!): "'It's Sammy.' The redhead said wiping at tears that sprung from her eyes. Her makeup was ruined but the younger girl didn't seem to care. 'What?' Daria said. Jane felt alarms going off in her head as Daria went into what could only be described as pre-panic mode." (Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7) (Part 8) (Part 9)

  • Communion Time (IC: The Cult of Misery), by Aloysius (COMPLETE!): "Jane looked at the people lined up to drink of the wine goblet and found herself wondering just how all of this really started. Daria had been evasive, and simply said, 'Trust me.' And, true, so far it was a very cushy deal, as long as she didn't mind two hours of work each week."

  • Copper (Scenes no Daria fic should have: Write The Lightning), by LongSnakeMoan (COMPLETE!): "That night at The Zon had become the defining moment in Jesse's life. Ever since he'd stared at the stage and then tasted her blood the memory, the smell and the flavour had driven him mad."

  • Creativity (Scenes no Daria fic should have: Write The Lightning), by Shiva (COMPLETE!): "While Daria sat in front of her blank computer screen, and Jane stood in front of a blank canvas with drying paints, and Trent sat on his bed with his guitar in his hands but otherwise motionless, Timothy O'Neill sat on the floor of his apartment with flash cards strung out in front of him, Janet Barch was only half-heartedly beating up Charles Ruttheimer III, and Claire Defoe had given up trying to think of a creative excuse to get away from her roommates, The Lawndale Lions were listless after giving up their attempts at making new plays, the Cheerleaders were laying on the grass on the football field with their eyes vacant as they stared at the empty sky."

  • The Cynicpuff Girls, by Shiva (part 1): "The evil supervillain, Li Jojo, laughed in her lunacy, her oversized brain protected by an equally oversized glass case. Even though she had been mutated by Professor M's experiments and was now a sentient simian with Triple D brains and boobs, she had ambitions bigger than that. For today, she would fufill her dream of destroying Lawnsdalesville and take over the world."

  • Daria & Son 3: Freakin' Friends Redux, by Erin M. (COMPLETE!): "MINISTER: And now, we will have a few words from Mark Davenport, Nicholas's good friend. Mark looks up, collects the index cards, and steps up to the podium. He opens his mouth, but closes it again. He shuffles the index cards, then frowns, and sets them aside. MARK: I had some thoughts written down, but the fact is... I can't do this." (Part 5

  • Daria the Baller, by Sofa King (parts 1 - 8): "SLAM! Daria Morgendorffer launches the doors to the locker room apart with both hands, slamming them against the walls as she storms in. 'What the fuck was that?' Jane Lane, her best friend since high school, and backcourt mate, peers up from underneath a towel. 'I had an off night.'" • Dylan, by J-D (parts 12 and 13): "'You should take Kris with you', Dylan said. 'He's a great camper.' As Kris glared at Dylan, their father said, 'This is a family activity! We're all going!'" (Part 12b) (Part 13)

  • Fielding Elite Wrestling Association, by Roentgen: "Ms. Merritt: I want to inform our audience that the infamous Mr. CMB has seen this amazing video of the Evie Morgendorffer/Quinn Morgendorffer match over at LFC and we wanted to know to find out the opinion of a master of ring mayhem. Ladies and gentlemen, please rattle your jewelry for Mr. CMB!!"

  • The First Day (I.C.: Cubicled (a.k.a. Daria meets Dilbert)), by JPAGC (COMPLETE!): "An office in Dilbert's company. The Pointy Haired Boss (PHB) is assigning work to new intern Daria. Daria: So you want me to translate this? PHB: Yes. Is there a problem?"

  • First Scream, and then Read, by PrecambrianStudios (COMPLETE!): "Suddenly, the PA buzzed to life, and Ms. Li's voice quickly announced: 'Attention students! There has been a bomb threat! This is no drill! Everybody, please come outside with all your pockets turned out and your hands where they SWAT team can see them!'"

  • A Fistful of Scarletts, by Aloysius (COMPLETE!): "The teenaged Scarlett LeFaye looked around and smiled. 'I'm home,' she said. 'Did you doubt I'd get you here?' Scarlett Morgan said. 'The truth be told, I thought that I was going to be sold to a white slavery ring,' the redheaded teen said. A few of the other Scarletts nodded in agreement." (Part 7)

  • Flood Control (My Annual Thanksgiving Fanfic Release - 2012!), by Brother Grimace (COMPLETE!): "'Ms. Morgendorffer! Ms. Lane! Can I have a word, please?' The sudden flush of anger at the sight of the willowy fashion plate of a woman, a camera crew in her wake that approached the two in the manner of a pack of hungry dingoes, disappeared from Daria's face as Jane tapped her on the shoulder. "

  • Freewheelin', by peetz5050 (parts 1 - 12): "Daria turned the chair and made her way up the approach to the big double doors. There were three steps which she could have managed in a pinch as they were quite wide but instead she headed to the left and the new ramp which had only been finished over the weekend and was the reason why she had missed the start of term." (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7) (Part 8) (Part 9) (Part 10) (Part 11) (Part 12)

  • Girl of 16, by PrecambrianStudios (COMPLETE!): "Helen sighed. Another attempt to get closer to her daughter had failed, as many had before. Sometimes, Helen just wanted to sit and cry over her failure. What had she done wrong?" (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7)

  • Glasses and Lipstick (chapter 2), by oni (parts 1 - 3): "She followed the sound of crying all the way to the top of the second story in their house. At the top she found her sister Quinn sitting against the window while she was curled up and crying. Daria herself was in a weak emotional state, but as she gently sat on the ground in front of Quinn, she tried to be the strong one." (Part 2) (Part 3)

  • Home For The Holidays (My Annual Thanksgiving Fanfic Release - 2012!), by Brother Grimace (COMPLETE!): "The volume of his oldest child's voice as she responded was louder than Jake could ever remember. 'Dad – what are you talking about?' 'We're splitting up."

  • Irony, by PrecambrianStudios (COMPLETE!): "'Daria!' shouted Helen from the living room. 'There's some mail here for you!'"
