It must be said that if that Aladdin Sane pic went any lower, we would have serious NC-17 issues. That's Jane for you, always on the edge. Oh, and hey: her right ear is NOT pierced!
It should also be noted that MTV artists were often extremely specific in their choice of alter-ego inspiration. Trent is not just "doing Elvis." Trent is doing Elvis during his 1968 TV comeback special. Click the link and you will see why I say that. Jane doesn't do Bowie, she does a particular Bowie album cover. Brittany does Madonna from a specific award-winning video, Stacy does Christina from a specific Rolling Stone cover, etc. Artists are a picky lot, aren't they? These alter egos are more than they seem.
Today is also referenced in a certain Daria fanfic, which you may want to read. I didn't realize before that "bhut" on FF.net was actually "Bacner" on Outpost Daria. Good to see you around, dude!
LATE-BREAKING INTERNET NEWS:
- "Something I don't think I'd regret if I had gotten it, is a duck phone. I don't know if they really exist, but I saw one once in the MTV animated series Daria. Instead of ringing, it quacked." (Tri-City Herald, Kennewick-Pasco-Richland, Washington)
- "My all time favorite cartoon is Daria. It was something about Daria's and Jane's friendship that made it seem as if they were more than just friends." (AfterEllen.com) [Well, duh.]
- "Cult series 'Daria' still not on DVD" (Connecticut Herald) [Well, double-duh.]
Remember: you saw it here first, maybe!
And today is special in other ways, but more on that later.

NC-17? Don't be so dramatic. R, or perhaps PG-13.
Me, I wanna see a Daria crossover with Baisez-Moi. (And no, the correct translation is not "Rape Me.") That'd be NC-17, no doubt.
"PG-13?" Jane screams. "PG-freakin'-13?!?!? No hentai for you!"
