The only time in Daria that we hear Helen and Jake discuss having a third kid is in "Gifted," with fairly straightforward results.Jake: Maybe I could talk Helen into having a boy.
Helen: Maybe I could talk you into letting me keep the house.
However, there is more. The MTV Daria site used to allow fans to send in questions to be answered by the voice actors playing their characters. This was about 1999-2000. Many of these priceless responses were saved at the Daria Sound Archive in its "Other Sound Files" section. One in particular is of interest: Jake and Helen discussing why they haven't had a third kid.
Sounds like neither parent is really up for it, after the double-barreled experience of Daria and Quinn. Which is why, in fanfic, Veronica simply happens and everyone has to deal with it.
