Quick final note for the night

It was mentioned that the Daria Directory would be more useful if there was some way in which certain websites could be earmarked as "recommended" or whatever. I've been experimenting with the blog system, and the only ways I can make a website stand out, without being too horrible about it, is to put it in italics or mark it with asterisks* (or other symbols) afterward. Nothing else will work (colors, boldfacing, type changes, etc.).

If this sounds good to you, make a note here in the Comments section even if all you're saying is "Yay" or "Nay." I have a general idea of which sites to mark, but suggestions are also welcome.

I'm not at all sure that making "recommendations" would be necessary, as most sites tend to speak for themselves fairly quickly as to quality.

Adding three categories would help, though, to extract more entries from that massive English-sites list, and make what remains far more useful:

~ Actively maintained sites (as dismaying as the shortness of that list might be)

~ News, interviews, or similar read-only articles (which typically neither call for nor allow reader responses)

~ Reference sites, whether dormant or active (Outpost Daria, DariaWiki, and the like are FAR larger and deeper in scope, but any newcomers won't find them amidst what is, at the moment, a cluttered list)

Marking sites within a category of the list is, indeed, more trouble than it's worth — I know from having often revised the template for DFB (One).

It could also be helpful to have a list of the various categories displayed under the "Daria Directory" graphic, to encourage the reader to scroll down.

Greybird, thanks. I am mulling over your comments and will do something with them soon. Your points are valid, it's just a question of how to go about it.
