The Fitness Club?

One gets the impression from the Fashion Club's unenlightened attitude toward sports in "See Jane Run" that they are in poor physical shape. "Can you imagine joining an actual sport?" asks Sandi. "You'd get all sweaty and your makeup would smudge," Stacy adds. "You're supposed to date jocks, not be one," says Tiffany in agreement.

Yet the Fashion Clubbers might be in better shape than we think. For one thing, they all have Phys Ed class with Ms. Morris. An amusing picture showing exhausted FC members appears in The Daria Database. Sandi Griffin cannot swim in "Just Add Water," but Quinn has her doing exercise videos and laps in the school pool in "Fat Like Me." Plus, in "Monster" we learn that the FC members go together to a fitness club to do power yoga. Now, power yoga is not about sitting in a lotus position; it's all about strength and flexibility. "Power yoga is a really good thing to do," opines Quinn, "because inner beauty is just as important as outer beauty. Like, can you have a CD without a CD player? I don't think so!" I have no idea what she meant, but the FC does power yoga, and that's got to have a beneficial effect. It makes you feel for Uphuck in that "Fair Enough" scene where Sandi knees him in the groin, as her fitness training, voluntary or not, probably made that below-the-belt shot very, very painful.

Does the FC do muscle-toning weightlifting with small weights? Isometric exercises? Dance-exercise videos/DVDs? Long walks around the neighborhood? One thing for sure: they're probably in better overall physical shape than is Daria, though runner Jane is probably better off than all of them put together.

They obviously get their exercise by mall walking...
:)

Air conditioned so that they don't sweat, and spending hours at a time walking, just the combination for them.
